First attempt at focus stacking in ON1 Photo Raw Max 2024. I only took three images to try the focus stacking as it was handheld and not sure how it would turn out. I should have taken a few more to get the rest of the embroidery thread on the top left in focus but, it's all learning process is my thinking. I have decided I will try to learn photos tacking for macro images this year.
Sigma 105 mm f2.8 macro lens on a Canon DSLR.
I want to thank each and everyone who took the time to visit my little space here on Flickr and perhaps gave a like or a comment on my image.
After our last try to get the Ferry bridge in sun on our trip in 2022 failed, it had always been a must to retry, With once again patchy skies this time the clouds stayed away and we find the southbound empty coal train in great sun light cooking off the last few miles to Healy.
Forth attempt at re-creating American Gothic - or my own variation of it.

Thank you very much for your comments and faves, regretfully, I am finding it increasingly difficult to reply to your comments, because of my very limited time on the internet, due to constant power interruptions in South Africa. I do read and appreciate every one of them! Thanks again!!
Another attempt, this time with manual lens. Spent about 5 minutes by that bush. I took about 80 shots, got 6 keepers out of it, pretty happy with it but the bees are still to small to me, need better magnification for sure.
Too much light pollution where I live (and in most of Belgium) to get a picture of the Milky Way. So, I thought I'd draw it. First attempt.

ps i'm not recommending any of these cookery adventures. they suit my personal taste. photographing to encourage myself to eat more healthily ...
i've created a group www.flickr.com/groups/cooking_is_my_hobby/ to gather ideas and encourage myself to continue with healthy eating by learning from others if you're interested in cooking, sometimes or a lot, or enjoy the cooking of others, you're always welcome ...
Attempted HDR with PS. One of my friend asked whether I know how to create HDR with PS. I said I don't know... but later I found out :)

My attempt at the "Smile on Saturday" theme "blue for you - ME 2022"
On May 12 it's ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia International Awareness Day.
M.E. Awareness Week was established by patient advocates and is focused on May 12th, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, who was believed to have suffered with M.E.
From 1857 Nightingale found herself often disabled by poor health, which some suggest may well have been Chronic Fatigue Syndrome(CFS).
As a result, Nightingale now has been adopted as a kind of patron saint for this under-studied disease.
CFS sufferers commemorate her birthday as a kind of rallying point; their own lamp in the dark.
Shot with an Agfa "Color-Agolon 90 mm F 2.5" (projection) lens on a Canon EOS R5.
A long exposure attempt to catch the sunset at Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. The clouds arranged themselves to provide the perfect leading lines - complete with their own reflections in the smooth water. Couldn't have asked for more.
See more from Iceland here.
Thanks for your visit. If you like my images, stop by at hpd-fotografy or follow me on 500px, Instagram, flickr and Facebook.

My first attempt at using a Star Tracker.
Not entirely successful with lots of warts and issues with this image, but after wrestling with the tracker for an hour, and as usual, struggling to actually find Andromeda, I was quite amazed that I got anything!
70 Raw frames at 30 seconds - f5.6 - ISO 3200
RHS Bridgewater welcome gardens. It was breezy. After many attempts and not triggering a fly away it dawned on me that it had died in situ.
This is my first attempt at long exposures. Just got a variable ND filter and trying to learn to use it. I am finding out that depends on were the sun is will determine if the dark "X" appears or not. Also, I just recently cleaned the camera and um...I guess not as clean as I thought!
Another attempt to follow MM 80% rule for this one ... I found an old piece of royal blue crushed velvet for the background. But I think I prefer the reflected light on the white background of the first one.
I must say I've been learning more about using my Macro lens and what it can do. Juggling focal range, dof and lighting - it's trying to remember and apply in future what I've learnt today that is difficult, even when I write it down and 'highlight' it. Each situation or placement of subjects requires its own decisions methinks! I have to watch I don't stress myself by trying too hard ! Ha ha - mult-tasking is not my forte ....
[Title changed as per XPAT in Poland's suggestion]

This was a first attempt by the juvenille White-tailed kite at a food transfer. Despite the adult's patience the attempt was not successful and dinner was brought to the nest.
I'm newbie in film world, , this shot was not really good, few blur, still have many things to learn.

Wasp
My first attempt at Macro photography since my new lens arrived two days ago. Gales and rain have finally stopped so managed a few clicks in the garden this evening
Sony A9II +90mm f2.8 @ 1/320 f14 iso 320 + Godox TTL fill flash, hand held auto focus, one image @ 30 cm distance.
No need for tripod with this set up. 10 stops of image stabilisation lens 5 and camera 5, wasp kept moving other wise I could have shot at 1/100 shutter speed hand held- no wind. Auto focus on this camera is superior to manual focus despite all the experts saying use manual focus for single shot macro photography
First attempt processing Veil Nebula w/o complete data with no Flats , just few Dark Frames and no OIII data yet . Taken through my small but heavy 11 lbs. AT65EDQ refractor with new three weeks old QHY268M monochrome camera , stack of 150:30:30:30 minutes data .
A few days ago I had a new lens is a Zenitar 16mm. Yesterday I managed to test it in martial terms: wide angle, sharpness gorgeous

This Great Blue Heron just made an attempt at a fish, diving right into the water. Here it's making some quick moves after it picked itself up from the water.
Taken 10 August 2023 at Albany, Oregon.
AKA Indian Peafowl. There were about 3 peacocks roaming free about the organic farm. This male peacock here is taking a very rare flight attempt.

Gull trying to steal a young Great Crested Grebe's lunch at Hogganfield Loch Glasgow
The gull would be disappointed once it realised it was just a bit of weed the juvenile was playing with,
- This is my attempt to blend in a long exposure star trails into a Milky way scene. The end positions of the stars and the galaxy, along with their colours is seen together with faint trails over a bit over 30 min. I seem to get a green hue close to horizon for this whole night of shooting the stars. It's extra visible here when I highlighted the colour in the blending mode, not sure what that colour comes from, anyone knows its origin?
