My attempt at landscape photography. Light was disappearing fast so I pulled over and tried to capture the moment. Beautiful part of Alberta in the Three Hills area.

After four attempts, Flickr did not want to upload this morning. Clematis in my garden.

My first attempt at using Poetry for my flickr image. I only did this so I could get into Loegan Magics Flickr group 'Images and Words' which requires original writings

LEAVE THE DUCKS ALONE

My dog, you are a pain

and a drain

you make me insane

When we leave the mooring

to go out exploring

you find it boring

Until you spot the duck

and then you act like a schmuck

you are such a bad mutt

Attempted this night capture at 5 seconds and ISO 4000 to keep from blowing out the lighthouse in the light from the parking lot. Was still able to get some of that Milky Way beyond that was out over the Atlantic Ocean beyond the lighthouse.

I‘ve no idea how these flowers with ten petals are called, but they are absolutely tiny - maybe around 8 mm (1/3 inch) in diameter and I like how they look.

My attempt at the "Looking Close... on Friday" theme "White on white".

Shot with a Carl Zeiss "S-Planar 32 mm F 5.6" lens on a Canon EOS R5.

Conditions were perfect: 80% chance of rain and strong winds. What could be better? For shooting osprey, nothing. Rain suit for me and my camera and a surprising a lot of other adventurous souls showed up for the show. The pelicans seemed to being doing better than the osprey, dive after dive while the osprey were out in force looking but not catching much. This one did well however, and one greedy pelican made an attempted steal. The osprey pulled up up an away!

My attempt at the "Macro Mondays" theme "Tradition".

I tried to include two christmas traditions in our family: The first one is crafting things from paper (as you can see my youtube channel on paper crafting might still have to wait a few years... 😅) and the second one is the whole family taking a walk to a random tree in the woods to have a little celebration outside!

This tree is around 28 mm in height.

My attempt at the "Looking Close... on Friday" theme "A Flower's Backside".

My attempt at the "Macro Mondays" theme "Holes".

Another comet, another hole! Perhaps some remember that I have shot these little decorating things before. They are around 1.5 mm in diameter so kinda small to say the least. That‘s why the DOF is really shallow and everything out of it gets very unpredictable (and thus interesting to me)!

This is my second attempt at layering. I used two different textures by dog ma, my source of inspiration for textured photos. In my humble opinion......she is the queen. :0) I love this photo of hers......... love this!!

Please give me your honest opinions! :0) This was done using Picnik.

#Brush

One last, desperate attempt at getting at least a decent image for our "Brush" theme (after spending half of the afternoon trying to make a tiny brush, made for small bottles with thin necks, look like a Christmas tree).

I've photographed this toothbrush (exclusively bought for macro photography) once before in high-key for a past "Pastel" theme (please see the first comment). And if that was the "A Night At The Opera" version, this low-key attempt is the "A Day At The Races" variant. Or so.

To get extra close, I mounted the Laowa 50mm 2x macro lens, which also means it's a single shot. Illuminated mostly from above with my natural light photo lamp and, stupidly, also from the right with one of the LED lamps, which explains the slight colour change on the right because that lamp casts a more yellowish light. But I didn't want to take yet another photo. I left the protection cap on the brush because I thought it added "something" to the scene.

Since from this POV, the toothbrush's handle was in the way, I glued it onto the table tripod's head (with modelling clay) to get a little more stability (and stabilised the brush's head with my hand). I pointed the camera slightly down to get a good view of the colourful bristles. That's it.

HMM, Everyone!

Not the perfect swirl but an attempt :-)

Another attempt at a selfie - this down down the Welford Arm of the Grand Union canal

Or at least that's how many it felt I needed. To finally be able to get the correct picture.

I guess these tiny post-it skyscrapers are the only affordable housing left… but at least they‘re colorful! 😅

One of my attempts at the "Macro Mondays" theme "Single Use".

Shot with a Nikon "LS-3510AF 50 mm F 3.5" (scanner) lens on a Canon EOS R5.

My first real attempt at green screen picture :D I'm kinda proud of it ~

Jasper attempts to gnaw on his giggle ball birthday present (he turned 8 on Sunday). The thing is rock-hard so I don't think he'll be doing much damage to it. Apparently it is fun to chase though.

An NS EB train coming up the hill from South Chicago yard, was attempting the classic block-out move. But the drone came to the rescue, to capture NS train 23M with special painted AC44C6M in the lead. The train is coming over the Calumet River in Chicago.

I uploaded a photo this morning, 'Storm in the polder'. On that occasion, it was too cloudy to get the movements in the clouds nicely visible.

This afternoon, the sky opened up, so I went again to the same spot, for a second attempt. A lot more satisfying I think!

Despite the satisfying results, I learned a valuable lesson about the boundaries of my (cheap) filter set (Stealth Gear). Massive colour deviation into red, purple and magenta. Only heavy processing in Lightroom and Photoshop saved the picture. I'm anxious for your comments.. what do you think of it?

So it's clocking off time for our pair of street entertainers. As they are twins the assumption is that profits are split 50/50? Seriously though how cool to have yourself as a puppet?

Another colour candid from me in an attempt to brighten my stream. Had to wait a while to get this shot as wanted to get a natural moment rather than the actual performance. Was also literally laying on the ground to get the angle.Think it came out ok and worth eating dirt for :)

I was attempting to photograph a group of deer when all of a sudden, they were startled by something. I didn't notice until some time later, as the sun was setting, a coyote had laid down in the grass about 50 yards from me. The coyote didn't see me so I crawled on my stomach towards it, pushing my camera as I went, running against the clock as the sun had already gone behind the trees. I got to within 30 feet of it and got some nice photos.

As the field turn to darkness, it eventually got up, had a nice long stretch and trotted into the nearby woods to start the nights hunt.

Gulls line the cliffs on Skomer waiting for the Puffins to return with fish to feed their young..... and mug them. This Puffin aborted the landing attempt and made another circuit of the Wick to try again....

A real grey and wet day....

Processed by a friend who keeps nudging me to learn... well one day :o)

I struggled with this picture. I wanted some bright highlights in the background but the tops of the stalks of grass are lost in the clutter.

Attempt at Abstract Layers for Compositionally Challenged

Shot of a sunflower with a second photo of a broken window, and Infrared filter applied, all done with the Ribbet editor.

This is an attempt to capture the Milky Way over city of Bath taken from Primrose Hill. One can see a need to stay away from big cities if you want to capture starry sky as all the stars at the bottom are washed out by light pollution even on a clear, cloudless night as this one was. This is a composite of two vertical images each exposed to get panoramic view. Sky exposure (f1.8, 10s, ISO3200) and background exposure (f9, 20s, ISO 3200). Four images were then merged in photoshop. Primrose Hill. Bath, BANES, UK

Personal attempt of more creativity, close up and macro without major changes in Photoshop.

-----

As the weather forecast predicted bright and sunny weather for the so called Carnival Holidays in the first week of march 2022 and as I was to spent that week with my family at the Belgian coast, it was soon clear for me that I would finally make an attempt to catch some freight trains at the harbour of Zeebrugge.

For trains leaving the port via the sidings of Zwankendamme and Pelikaan the sun would stand correct during the first hours of the day, moreover in the neighboorhoud of the sidings of Ramskapelle there would also be a possibility to make decent photos of trains arriving at destination.

I gahtered some information, and it was soon clear that a couple of trains were due to arrive between 8 o'clock and 10 o'clock in the loop op Ramskapelle.

First of them was this so called JLR train (Jaguar and Land Rover), pulled by Traxx 186 240 of DB Cargo. A nice start of the day!

My attempt at the "Macro Mondays" theme "Damage".

It shows a small part (40 mm/ 1.5 in) of a giant crack across my iPad... that I dropped on the concrete floor! (Great job! Better hand this man an expensive camera immediately!)

Shot with a Carl Zeiss "S-Planar 74 mm F 4" lens on a Canon EOS R5.

After quite a few attempts over the years, in Alberta and British Columbia as well as the USA, finally saw Sage Thrasher in mid-August, 2021. Even with detailed information on a likely location, it took at least a couple of hours before a bird was sighted. Then watched for several hours as one (possibly two) returned to a particular spot with food before dropping out of sight to a presumed nest. [Stayed in my vehicle as didn’t want to disturb or endanger this rare species.] The general vicinity was the southeastern corner of the province of Alberta, Canada. This individual is on Sagebrush, appropriately.

The title here is a play on the title of the 1980 song and album by Steve Winwood, Arc Of A Diver. A line from a different song on that album is also appropriate for this image, 'While you see a chance take it'. The great grey owl had just launched to fly across a clearing in a failed attempt to catch a vole.
