The Active Assignment Weekly: Aug 24- Aug 31:Gnomes on the Roam
Ok, after canvasing the entire city I was unable to locate a reasonably priced gnome. The only one I found was 39.99 and it was definitely not worth the money I decided to use something my wife already had in the flowerbed and used an iron dog that she has had forever. Here he is residing in a hammock relaxing at the park. Tried a few other shots but I think he was scared of swings because I couldn't get him to stay on long enough to take a decent shot and think if he would have been able to run off he would have because he was dropped on his head a few times. My son thought this was hilarious. Very fun time taking these shots.
WIT - Tripod and a myriad of shots before I got something I liked. A bit of cropping and changing to B&W, full sharpness to get the netting to stand out.

Week 4, 2/10 Stars. I couldn't decide whether to stick with the original blue color of the door, seen here, or to change the door to yellow, as I did in the other photo. I am a bit partial to the yellow door, but the blue is brilliant, and I love them both. Both photos edited in Photoshop CS4, taken with a Canon EOS 50D, with a Canon 70-200mm telephoto zoom lens. I had my brother toss these paintbrushes and used a fast shutter speed in order to capture them still, but slow enough so it was still bright enough (my room has terrible lighting)
This was for an assignment from my course. It was part of a small dutch story about a rabbit fearing the night.
Found lots of lovely old rusty machinery on a local farm, could have spent hours there!
Have no idea which one to choose for the assignment.

Please excuse my recent lack of commenting. I was on an almost 3-week-long road trip, & just got back last night. Hope to be able to catch up---
For this assignment, I decided to do my assignment inspired by the American modernist to postmodernist artist named Stephen Shore. What caught my eye about Shore’s work was that he takes very simple photos but makes them stand out. I’ve noticed that a lot of the photos he takes show places like gas stations, store signs, and lots of streets. In my photograph, I wanted to use a picture that I took which is a lineup of cars to give an idea of the type of photo that Shore would take. I mainly just try to use a photo that looks natural, colors standing out, as well as having a plain background. The focus for me was to replicate Shore’s style of keeping his photos simple while also showing a scene of cars which I’m very passionate about. Overall, Stephen Shore and his photography has definitely stood out to me in a way where I shouldn’t take his style of photography for granted.
