Assignment - 2

Rules Followed

4 - Use Diagonals

i really like how the color of the bridge really pops in this picture. Looks like a normal sidewalk, but i think the couple on the right ads a little to it. A pathway leading to where?

This was for an assignment from my course. It was part of a small dutch story about a rabbit fearing the night.

Found lots of lovely old rusty machinery on a local farm, could have spent hours there!

Have no idea which one to choose for the assignment.

I combined assignments 35 and 34 to make this work. I used the wrap this page to "wrap" the Wreck this Journal that I gave my friend Gabby. I was flicking through the book and and I saw the give away your favorite page. I figured that since I was already giving away a page, I may as well decorate it like some of my favorites.

This was quick and sastisfying, a good way to get back in to wrecking my journal.

Assignment 2

Taken outside of Philz Coffee on S Frances St in Sunnyvale.

My entry for Digital Photography School assignment kinetic photography.

Lesson learned today: I really need to clean my lens!

Fishers # 29 Chris Schmidt takes a shot right outside the crease with defense right in his face. Schmidt scored the goal despite the obstacle in front of him.

I would like to have cropped this shot because there is to much shown of the stands and not enough of the field. I feel it takes away of the action

Today I took the camera into Sleaford and visited the National Centre for Craft & Design, formerly known as The Hub.

In this assignment i was asked to use photoshop to combine a self portrait image with other images from other exposures to add symbolism, meaning, and identity to the self portrait.

As it was a portrait of myself I wanted to incorporate something that shows my personality. Music is a big part of my life. I wanted to show how writing and playing music makes me feel. Being able to write music gives me such a calming and almost therapeutic feeling but being under pressure to write music is the total opposite. I find it very difficult to express my creativity under stress.

I took photos of my face expressing all the emotions i experience while writing music, happy, angry and sad. Combined them together to create a sort of Jekyll and Hyde feeling to my face. The blood and the guitar going through my head symbolises my ongoing battle with writing music. i feel like im taking my frustrations out on my guitar and on myself.

Processes I used in Photoshop

I first imported all the of the photos into photoshop as layers and named them to avoid being confused later on. I used the rectangular marquee tool to select the parts of the layers i wanted and the eraser tool to delete parts that looked bad. I used the polygonal lasso tool to cut around my props such as the blood and the guitar. I also resized and scaled some of the layers to fit in with each other.

light assignment product/object shot, broad source light, unlit background

Matadata: f/5.6 at 1/125, ISO 800, 135 mm.

Description: I love this image for texture because of how harsh and callous-y the bark of tree looks like. It makes the audience feel like if they were to touch this tree, they would be able to feel how rough and scratchy it was. I also like the fact that there is a continuation with the orange leaf from this photo to the emphasis image from the same assignment. I adjusted the exposure and white balance in Lightroom so there was a difference between the tree and the background colors.

Assignment 2

Taken at the S Taaffe St public parking in Sunnyvale

the forest through five of them

I am taking a photography class and I'm going to post the pictures I turn in for assignments. The first assignment was about going through the different aperture settings on stationary objects and moving objects.

ISO 200, Shutter 200, Aperture f10, 135mm. The subject is over a frosted glass table. I positioned a flash below the table with two CTO gels at 1/4 power. A second flash was bounced from the ceiling at 1/16 power.
