I was inspired by Stephen Shore's work for this assignment, especially his Uncommon Places he takes pictures of. My approach to taking a picture of a peaceful street corner was influenced by his ability to take the ordinary and turn it into something amazing. Similar to Shore's skill at changing everyday objects into works of art, I aimed to capture the quiet and delicate beauty of daily life in this photograph. Like Shore, I concentrated on the color of the purple and green trees, also made sure that the gentle hues of the blue sky and the colorful tones of the trees were clearly depicted. Shore frequently depicts both the subject and its surroundings, and this wide-angle composition helps to emphasize the area surrounding the single object. In order to maintain the scene's naturalism and depth, I purposefully employed natural light from the sun. The picture captures a silent moment of contemplation and highlights the beauty of areas we frequently ignore.
Today I took the camera into Sleaford and visited the National Centre for Craft & Design, formerly known as The Hub.

Got a fantastic book about nature photography for my birthday. The book also contains some assignments.
Assignment 14 is about how film grain can improve your photos. I had to look through my archive for photos in which granularity can be a benefit and I had to explore the boundaries of this effect.
This is the first result.
Assignment 52 - motion blur
I don't consider this quite a fulfillment of the assignment, since both subject & background are in blur, likely due to lack of tripod when we were down in Georgia. But this photo is "so Po," I want to include it.

Lighting: I wanted to experiment something quick with direct lighting, so I got a led light from my brother and used to cross the beam from left to right, shining on the keys. I have to buy a few more leds like this one...I sue will make good use of them.

Mission: Capture a picture of the "odd ball" in a group. Perhaps an ugly duckling in a group of swans, an orange in a barrel of apples, or a burnt out light bulb in a fully lit marquee. The subject can be man made, or God made; it just needs to NOT fit in with the group.
Restriction: You can only use a Nikon ;-) Just Kidding! I hope I don't get shunned from the group for that! Seriously, I can't think of a good restriction, SO other than the normal rules of the group there are no restrictions.
WIT: A shot of the fleeting poppies that volunteer in my untended garden. I had to clone out bit of a second bloom, so that the remaining magenta spot was on her own.
