My darling 14month-old son in his usual TV-watching position about 6 inches in front of the tube. Lighting from TV screen (in front of him) and a floor lamp (behind him and reflected in the fireplace beyond him). Adjusted levels in PSE to lighten image for Flickr (why does it always look fine on my computer but too dark on Flickr???)
We had this stupid assignment at a location on campus. I was in a rush to do it this morning before class, so here is the outcome... dreaded. but I love Lauren.
A few of the pictures I took for an assignment.
Annissa, he didn't like your book choice. I think The Big Book of Breasts would have been better.
Active Assignment Weekly: January 31 - February 7: Minimal House
This week's assignment is to capture minimalism around your house. If your house is cluttered, this could prove to be a challenge. The catch here is not to set up a minimalist shot but to capture one as is. I would prefer the shot come from in your residence but if you absolutely MUST venture into the yard, I guess that would be alright, so long as no animals or small insects are harmed in the process.
Restriction: Please keep your shot to furniture, appliances, or the structure in your house. Meaning, don't set up a glass vase and photograph it. But if your shooting a table, and it happens to have a vase on it, then so be it.
Am I being vague enough for all of you :-)
Dare: Don't have exposed wood in your shot (ie. on table tops, floors etc.)
WIT
Well saw this by accident after looking around the house. Lighting seems to be my downfall and will need to be worked on but I saw the shadow cast and thought this would fit this week's challenge. Haven't done anything to the photo, this is straight from the card.
Let me introduce myself, my name is Jeremy Wall and I seem to have gotten a little stuck on 02 Assignment, the hardest part for me was selecting photographs to post. The photographs I have chosen are a reflection of how I see myself in this world. I find myself distant from this world of mass garbage, ill call it clutter. Right now in my life it is difficult for me to take photos of myself, people, places, and things without there being some sort of unwanted clutter in the background, like a garbage can next to a beautiful tree or a doorknob in the background, this is very frustrating. I am a dreamer and also a doer. In a lot of self portraits I take or when someone else takes a picture of me I always appear mad or upset it is just the way I look, I can’t help it. I am really a nice person and I love helping out other people, it makes me feel good. I love to laugh and if you were to hang out with me I will get you to laugh also, either with me or at me. In this waste land of garbage that seems to engulf everything that is pretty to me, I do my best. I really need to get out of this garbage dump but I am stuck. I adore the beach, but I can’t find anyone that wants to go. The only form of transportation I have is my beach cruiser and public transportation, my beach cruiser is too long for VTA busses. I need to get a tripod, park benches and stacking candles is not working for me. I also have a really hard time with computers, I will admit. I have a lot of love in my soul, nothing will ever ruin that.
The George Washington Geckoes played The Academy of Our Lady of Guam Cougars in an Independent Interscholastic Athletic Association of Guam Girls' Volleyball League varsity game on Oct. 4 at the GW gym.
This is my lame submission for this week assignment but I'm struggling this week to get something. :/
This week the word for the assignment is "Shapes". Figured the lighting here creates a unique shape. Cooled down the white balance to turn it blue. Feed Back/Critique is appreciated!

Workers at the Alta Gracia factory, set up as a "fair wage" factory recently by Knights Apparel, which is one of the largest suppliers of t-shirts and sweatshirts to colleges in the US. This factory is paying workers a living wage, about 3.5 times more than they are paid in other factories clothing factories in the DR.
The clothes are sold at a slightly higher price with tags explaining to customers that Alta Gracia (also the name of the clothing line) pays the workers more.

The way I decided to approach this assignment was to play with different camera angles/ lighting. I asked myself "How can I make simple everyday items appear more interesting?" I also captured a mess from a project I have been working on for senior portfolio. I wanted to focus on getting the depth while still keeping the focus on certain objects. I chose this space because it is my main living space. I am always working, eating, or getting ready in these spaces. I made my photographs simply by playing with camera angles. I want the viewer to see a simple space at more than the basic perspective.
This is my garage art studio.
This was a very interesting assignment. I have spent quite some time looking at myself over the years. To do this now in five pictures creates an interesting challenge. I have finally decided to follow my artistic talent. I am working in a degree in Fine Art and Graphic Design. I am thoroughly enjoying all that i am learning and am working hard to do the best work I can. This series of photographs will give you a quick view into where I am right now.
I spend a majority of my spare time painting; wether it is in my studio or open air painting on location. I also enjoying riding my mountain bike. There is nothing better than blasting recklessly down a sketchy hill! The third picture is a close up of a bird of paradise flower. I just adore its color and lines.
The forth photo is of my cat Pax. He lives up to his name and brings much piece into my life. The last pic is a self portrait. See how hard I am working!
This assignment is really challenging and was very hard to find a subject and when I found the subject it was hard to get the shot, but will be attempting this again .

A closeup of the fiber we were given for the assignment. We got different combinations of colors - I ended up with orange & brown which just happen to be my faves.
Both are combed top, I believe Louet, I believe Corriedale.
They need to be handcarded for woolen spinning.
I just split each color in half, half to be used for the orthogeneous blend and half for the homogeneous blend.
This week's photo assignment was to take a photo of an animal, using only manual settings. I caught Zelda striking a pose.
I have to say, it's hard photographing a beige cat on a beige rug, and making it at all interesting. Luckily, I caught her blue eyes in this shot!

I (left) asked a close friend (right) to help me out with this assignment. He couldn't manually focus well on the 50mm prime, so I slapped him upside the head and switched to an autofocus lens for my portrait. Although, to be fair, I couldn't nail the focus on the prime half the time. The orchids we had for lunch were delicious though.

I used Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo x2 to edit this picture. I've never used any photo editing program before so I found it to be challenging. I had posted the original of this in a previous assignment saying how I'd enhance it. Well, this is the final attempt. It was a very dull, washed out original photo so I adjusted the brightness by using curves. I mostly left the top alone but gave more saturation to the grass and water area. I also sharpened it some which really helps Mt. Hood to stand out. Lastly I cropped out part of the sky and that not-so-pleasing-to-the-eye concrete barrier on the bottom. I feel it helps capture how beautiful the PNW can be when it's not raining! That blue strip in the middle is a bit distracting and I was trying to tone it down but had no idea how to, unfortunately. Overall, I don't think it came out that terribly. (Unless you're comparing it to the other's photos on here. They are all amazing so far! You all are very talented.)
