Assignment: PCA03 - Isolated Subject for Photography Critique Assignments Group
Mission:
Show us an isolated subject. Razor sharp focus on the subject, and completely blurred to annihilation backgrounds. This can be accomplished by using a wide aperture and having a distant background. If using a less sophisticated camera, try using the portrait mode or macro mode. If you cannot get the background out of focus, then choose a featureless background.

For this photo, I took a picture of some rocks. I really like how there are a variety of colors and sizes along with some small twigs.

Assignment 52 - Week 10: Copycat - Choose a favorite photographer and imitate his/her style.
For this assignment I wanted to try to be inspired by or emulate several different photographers.
This capture is based on the works of Vivian Maier.
I liked the idea of Street Photography, however found it very difficult to hit the streets with my camera (and zoom lens). I felt like a stalker lurking around corners/sitting on park benches trying to photograph 'random strangers' as they walked by. Therefore, I settled on the Playground at my school - the kids were more than willing to have the photos taken during recess.

Here is my second last assignment in Laure's class. The theme, designing a stocking, was kept to a more traditional item and elaborating more on the border and colour.
ASSIGNMENT: out of place.
I love this clock. I ran across it a few years ago when I left the walking trails and got a little lost in the park. It came off the old court house when they tore it down over 40 years ago. I am not sure when or how it ended up in the park, but it looks out of place to me. I wish someone would restore it.
WIT: I took three vertical shots, put them together in Photoshop to make a panorama. I flattened and then cropped the image.

To begin, my editing experience is at a very beginner and amateur level. I have personally and not professionally edited my photos on my iPhone before, but have never used a software program. For this photo, I used Pixlr to make my edits. To begin, I used the Crop tool multiple times to adjust where my focal point was in the frame. I rotated it, cropped and re-cropped in order to center the rose the best I could. I felt that this made the rose the blatant focal point. I also cut out a pair of shoes and unnecessary background space to accomplish this more. I then used the Brightness & Contrast adjuster to lower the brightness level and increase the contrast of the image. I did this, because I wanted the black of the asphalt to stand out against the crisp whiteness of the ribbon. I also wanted the color of the rose to pop off the page. Finally, I used the Sharpen took over the ribbon and the edges of the rose petals, because they seemed like they could be more distinct. I did this, because I wanted the rose and ribbon to look like they were right in front of you, instead of behind the camera lens.
