Shots around Berwick station prior to the replacement of the overhead as part of the High Capacity Trains project. At the time of these pictures works were yet to be completed at Berwick but had been done around Narre Warren
The station itself was located east side of the level crossing at Clyde Road in what was rural land on the southern side of the town centre for most of its history. A goods yard was located on the southern side of the station facing what was originally the only platform, later removed for car parking.
Electrification through here was originally completed as part of the Gippsland Line project - the only Victorian country main line to be electrified. It was officially opened to Warragul in July 1954 and Traralgon in March 1956 although test trains along this section to Narre Warren were running in 1952. The line was progressively duplicated soon after with most of this section completed in 1956, although a single track remained between Narre Warren and Berwick until early 1962. Following withdrawal of electric locomotives to Traralgon in 1987 and cessation of limited suburban trains to Warragul in 1998 (commenced 1987) the Dandenong-Pakenham section was the last part in use for suburban operations, with the wiring itself renewed in the late 1990s.

313053 and 313042 approaching Royston with the Saturday morning staff train on 13 July 2013, the only booked class 313 working to Royston. This is usually only a pair on Saturdays when Arsenal are at home, so it was a pleasant surprise to get a pair on a summer morning light enough for fotting.

The tiny town of Hilger is very quiet these days. It sits in a beautiful location with both mountain and prairie views. We didn't see anyone at all around town, just the sound of the lonely wind blowing between the buildings. But there was still something so charming about it all :)
"Hilger is north of Lewistown and was named for David J. Hilger, early resident and prominent citizen of the area. For many years Hilger was secretary of the Montana Historical Society in Helena. The town was originally known as Kendall, after a mining camp a few miles to the west. In 1913, three heavy gold bars were put on the train at Hilger, the last gold shipment from the Kendall Mine, according to the Wells Fargo messenger Frank Kowatch, who was there to deposit the gold in the train's special safe. (from Cheney's Names on the Face of Montana, Mountain Press Publishing Company) You can see the remains of the Kendall mine several miles west of town on a dirt road. But the town's major gold mine and mill, located at the top of Main Street, was owned by the Barnes-King Development Company, which developed the mine in 1900-01.
In 1911, the Milwaukee Railroad created Hilger about six miles east of Kendall. Many of the Kendall residents and businesses moved their buildings to the new town. Large-scale mining at Kendall ended the next year, although some local mines continued to operate until 1923." -visitmt.com

Sometime around 8 o'clock the sun broke through to a great cheer from the crowd around Jiangnan Sky Pond. This photo, taken at 08:27 - just five minutes before First Contact, shows the spectators starting to put on their special eclipse spectacles to look for the first evidence of the solar eclipse - a small piece of the sun gone black.
The first visit caught on camera, the top wing tip was just out the farm so I decided to crop in as it was sharp enough to make a good action shot!

A fairly straight forward approach this one, onto Nusawiru's 1400m tarmac runway. Very pretty part of Java being near to Pangandaran on the south coast of Java.

To me it looks as if this building has either sprung from the left and came to an abrupt stop near the right of the frame or has sprung from the right is and disappearing to the left.
I should also add that this is the side and rear view of the building. This is the side I'm most familiar with coming out of the BART parking lot. I say this only because the building does have another part to the facade... : ) If you already didn't know that you would probably think this the only entrance based on these series of images.
A pair of Irish Rail Class 2800 two-car DMUs (including 2801/02) belch smoke as they start to make their way into Maynooth station having been stopped at the home signal for a few minutes.
You'll notice that the signal is yellow not green - this is because the train is only cleared to move one signal forward (into Maynooth station), where it will again be stopped by a red signal. The diagonal row of white lights indicate to the driver that his train is being routed right across the set of points as you enter the station - in other words, he is being moved to the other track, which is Platform 1. On the other side of the track you can see the back of another signal - this is the Distant Signal for Blakestown level crossing.
