A fairly straight forward approach this one, onto Nusawiru's 1400m tarmac runway. Very pretty part of Java being near to Pangandaran on the south coast of Java.

Being on Vacation for 2 weeks in Malaysia, It was a nice Journey through Malaysia, Here are a few picture's of the awesome place's i have been,

To me it looks as if this building has either sprung from the left and came to an abrupt stop near the right of the frame or has sprung from the right is and disappearing to the left.

I should also add that this is the side and rear view of the building. This is the side I'm most familiar with coming out of the BART parking lot. I say this only because the building does have another part to the facade... : ) If you already didn't know that you would probably think this the only entrance based on these series of images.

A pair of Irish Rail Class 2800 two-car DMUs (including 2801/02) belch smoke as they start to make their way into Maynooth station having been stopped at the home signal for a few minutes.

You'll notice that the signal is yellow not green - this is because the train is only cleared to move one signal forward (into Maynooth station), where it will again be stopped by a red signal. The diagonal row of white lights indicate to the driver that his train is being routed right across the set of points as you enter the station - in other words, he is being moved to the other track, which is Platform 1. On the other side of the track you can see the back of another signal - this is the Distant Signal for Blakestown level crossing.

Calrailfans in Colfax, 11 August 2018

Our August Calrailfans meet was in Colfax, California at the Carpenter Road grade crossing by the Long Ravine curve. If you happen to have the book "Tragic Train" by Don DeNevi, this is the place identified as "Palo Alto" in the caption for a 1938 publicity photo of the train.

As often happens, I had stuff to do around the house in the morning and I finally got out the door in late morning. While passing Rocklin, I noticed an empty grain train stopped and figured it was waiting for the eastbound California Zephyr to run around it. This was the case and I stopped and photographed both trains, then shot the no grainer at Newcastle.

I beat the no grainer to Colfax, but as it approached the crossing, Lupe got her leash tangled and I missed the photo of 8627 at the grade crossing. Steve Cope took the photo of me holding up the 1938 City of SF photo...many more trees today than 80 years ago.

Next down the mountain was #5 running a bit behind. The Roper, the MRVRO manifest to Roper Yard in Salt Lake City showed up shortly after the westbound Zephyr with 3 units leading a 2 mid train DPUs.

We sat around and chatted for a while, then ATCS said another eastbound was coming. Michael Scholz and I went down the hill to the Long Ravine trestles and got a looking up view of the train, which turned out to be coal empties with a Tier 4 EMD SD70ACe-T4 leading.

I've had a painting of NCNG #5 passing under the City of SF at Long Ravine hanging in my living room since the 1980s. Lee Yeager offered to paint me a watercolor and I'd had the idea for a while, so that's what he painted.

Not having a lot of SD70ACe-T4 photos (the model was introduced in November 2016), I followed the train up to American/Casa Loma and photographed it against the backdrop of American River Canyon. The new 4 stroke 1010 engine in the Tier 4 unit certainly has a different sound than the 2 stroke engines that have powered EMDs since the 1930s.

Back at Long Ravine, only a few people were enduring the hot weather and no trains were expected for a while, so I headed for home. It was a good day in the mountains.

25NC 3533 'Elrein' getting away from her Orange River service stop just ahead of an approaching frontal system with a Kimberley bound freight in August 1991. Cold fronts were a bit of a pain in July / August but they did produce some dramatic skies if you were lucky with the light. Childhood errors......hit the loco right with the grain silo sticking out of it tut tut tut!

A quick sidetrip whilst picking up some sandwiches for my lunch on a Friday, saw me park the chucklebus up on Cefn Hirgoed and leg it out with camera, tripod, and filter bag to try to get a couple of shots of a storm approaching Bryncethin from up the valleys.

It was the interplay of some rather angry clouds and some extremely bright light breaking through in areas that caught my eye.

It was a day of extreme contrasts at this stage, as if I turned through 180 degrees I was faced with a blue sky and a glorious bunch of fluffies ...unfortunately the view was not as inspiring as this, although I did get a grab shot before the rain arrived so may play later...

This is a video slideshow of images taken yesterday of a storm here on the Oregon Coast....the sky turned a threatening purple black as I snapped the last few shots and retreated home during the ensuing ice pellet shower.
