Almost at the top of the cable car now and looking down at the magnificent sweep of Funchal.

Elowah is a beautiful waterfall. The long stream of water drops over a cliff covered with brightly color lichens. The trail passes over a wooden bridge just a few dozen meters from the bottom of the waterfall. There are all sorts of possible compositions involving the waterfall, the bridge, and the stream, many which I've seen before and many of which I made this time as well. But as I was leaving, I looked back and saw this view, the view of a person approaching Elowah.

Bringing a pair of covered hoppers back to the yards in Arcade, NY, the Arcade & Attica's 1920 Alco #18 approaches the steel trestle spanning the Cattaragus Creek at the north end of the village.
Although well-known for their steam tourist excursions, New York's Arcade & Attica Railroad is primarily a local freight carrier, operating between its connection to the outside world on the Buffalo & Pittsburgh (NS & CSX) at Arcade and the northern terminus of the line at North Java. The tracks used to go all the way to Attica, but were removed in the late 1950s, after washouts rendered that portion of the railroad unusable. The line hauls primarily agricultural products and while the vast majority of the trains are powered by diesel-electric locomotives, it's not unheard of for them to move a few loads if the steam locomotive happens to be hot.
This image was captured during a May 2025 photo shoot on the Arcade & Attica Railroad, which featured Consolidation #18 on both freight and passenger consists.
Freightliner Class 66 locomotive 66616 approaches Haselour Lane, Elford with a train of aggregates wagons from Briggs ICI sidings to Small Heath Lafarge.

Bournemouth, Pier Approach. An area which has changed a lot through the decades. The Observation Wheel has been a feature since 2016, whilst Aruba was designed by Archer Humphryes Architects in the former Showbar at the land end of the pier.

Our first stop on the way to Dutch Harbor was the fishing village of Chignik. Happily we were treated to a pleasant sunny day. Those amazing green Alaskan hillsides never seem to be as vivid on my images as they were in real life....

Shortly after capturing this shot, a torrential downpour occurred that lasted more than two hours. I don't recall ever seeing rain come down that hard for that long. I seriously contemplated shooting again during the storm but ultimately decided against it. Heavy lighting strikes and potentially soaked camera gear aided in my decision.
Snow Geese, on approach - as well as a bunch of Cackling Geese. Yes, there had been a Bald Eagle scare. The two groups looked visually to be mixed when they were in the air but I was probably wrong (they probably didn't think they were all together anyhow) since as you see they are separating out on landing.

A new greateranglia stadler bi-mode train from Norwich heads into Sheringham station, as that train rolled in a steam train from the NNR approached the hertitage station and my photo buddy Ciro decided he was going to take a few shots of that resulting in us missing the 15.43 departure from Sheringham.

Always had a fantasy to work a street corner for a night. I'm sure it's pretty grim for people who have to do it for a living, but hey, guess I'm just one sick little kitten.

The Didcot Railway Centre has recreated a vintage Great Western branch line scene and was operating its recently-restored GWR diesel railcar No.22. The Great Western Railway was a pioneer user of diesels for passenger services in Britain, beginning in the 1930s. The company liaised with AEC of Southall in the mechanical design and with the associated Park Royal Vehicles in the bodywork design. No.22 was new in 1940.
