As we were driving along the Monaro Highway in Canberra Ian saw a plane heading towards the Airport. We pulled over when it was safe to do so. I had my camera on the ready and got a few shots from the car. It's an QANTAS B737.
While crossing Pamlico Sound on the Cedar Island to Ocracoke ferry, we were followed by a large group of seagulls. They were busy catching fish that the props churned up and made for great photo subjects. In this view, I was reminded of stacks of airplanes staged along a glideslope on approach to a busy airport....the fact that the one in the back is all flared just made it even more apparent.

The train is unknown and is very likely to be the 15904 Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express or the 15934 Amritsar-Dibrugarh Express as the coach composition is very similar to these two trains.
Composition was WDP4D-EOG-GS-2A-3A-3A-3A-3A-PC-Eleven SL-GS-GS-EOG
But this place is not the usual route of these trains.
This is the Simaluguri - Sibsagar Town - Dhamalgaon - Dibrugarh route. The usual route of most trains is Simaluguri - New Tinsukia - Dibrugarh.
But the main thing is that the Dibrugarh to New Tinsukia route was closed temporarily upto 14th January 2020 due to the massive agitations and protests related to CAA and NRC in the area. Tracks, Signals and Stations were damaged in the violence.
So all the trains were diverted via Sibsagar Town, which is a lot shorter route than going all the way to New Tinsukia and coming to Dibrugarh.
So now the question is, which train it was at that time?
15904 arrives DBRG only on Wednesday and Saturday while 15934 arrives DBRG only on Monday.
But the picture was taken on Tuesday!

I'm not a huge fan of stingrays - especially swimming amongst them. But if you travel to the Caymans, a visit to "Stingray City" is a must. The sheer beauty of this place is amazing - you'll never see clearer teal water.

By the time of this scene at The Mound in summer 1956 the end of Edinburgh's tramway system was nearing. As was the end for fleet 103 which was already 21 years old ! The Council had decided (in wisdom or not!) to abandon Edinburgh's trams in favour of buses and all would be gone by November 1956.
This was the first of Edinburgh Corporation's 'domed roof standard trams', built at their Shrubhill workshops in 1935 and pressed into service at Gorgie depot for routes 1,2, 3 and 4, and later routes 25 and 26. Note the drop down windows a feature that was modified by improvements to later trams. In 1953 Gorgie converted to buses and 103 moved to Tollcross and is seen on service 23 en-route to Granton Road Station.
Note the nearside advert for Weston's Biscuits. (in later years Burton's). Garry Weston was then based on Slateford Road and advertised on nearly half Edinburgh's tram fleet.
43170 leads the 05.40 Penzance - Cardiff Central through the cutting on the approach to Teignmouth station. 43162 is on the rear. I've been wanting to nail this shot at this location for a few years now but there needs to be quite a few factors in play for it to come off. The cutting sees very little sunlight with shadows being cast across the tracks during the bulk of the day and if the sun isn't shining then the general light available is poor. As I sometimes work in the town I'm never here very early but at 08.45 in late April with some glorious sun fairly low in the sky out to sea behind the station the light was illuminating the up line and the cutting wall. Perfect.

Last night we had severe weather warning with a tornado watch when I saw these mammatus clouds form. Not long after I took this photo, we received a tornado warning with 95 mph straight winds possible. We took shelter, and there was a tornado that touched down, but it bypassed us to the south. We did get copias amounts of rain, hail and high winds. There were others to the north of with (unconfirmed) reports of 12 tornados on the ground from this storm. We are okay, no damage in our immediate area. Those black specs are birds seeking cover from the storm.

CN 368 is approaching MP 47 of the scenic Lac St-Jean Sub on its way to its destination of Chambord. Power is CN 8918, CN 2239, IC 1011, CN 2670 & CN 8004.
Whilst these are very popular in Sydney, the problems of shooting them are that mostly they are too from the front path to photograph in peoples gardens. So I had to hunt around for ones well placed so I can get pictures at different angles.
The species vary too and some area already nearly finished flowering and others have not started yet, and they make different shapes according to which variety. So I was wandering around the area trying to find suitable ones to photograph as they are soon over the flowering period!!!

Some dark rain clouds in the background make up for some nice contrast between the bright airplane and the dark clouds.
Luckily I didn't get wet as the rain remained east of the airport ;-)

After setting out bad orders in Gladstone, U745 is up to track speed at it approaches Larch, Larch is where the CNW main line crossed over the Soo's Green Bay to Sault Ste. Marie Main. There is a connector track a half mile behind me that will allow west bounds to get onto the CNW and head south and west through Escanaba. For this train though, they will have to run west (railroad south) to Algoma Junction and turn east/North to run though Escanaba and eventually head north on the CNW main line to Marquette and will cross back over this main line.
Summer lasted well into the middle of September this year but then came to an abrupt end shortly after that. We are now paying for the warm and dry summer we have been lucky enough to enjoy the last few months, as the rain and cold have moved in and it looks like this weather isn't going away anytime soon.
For the first couple of days on a recent camping trip a took, I was lucky to have very mild weather which made paddling the Georgian Bay coastline a pleasure. The one thing I hadn't counted on were the lingering mosquitoes and since I had no brought any repellent, I was itching all through the night.
