On Saturday 21 March, the animated athletes and crowds they’ve created will be projected metres high onto the Town Hall and surrounding buildings where they will sprint, pole vault and swim across the sides of the buildings transforming the area into an ‘Olympic’ arena.
I wanted to create a short animation that illustrates the label placement algorithm for tag maps, placing labels in descending order, based on importance, and in several discrete classes on the map. Since the final tag maps visualization is still only implemented in ArcMap / ArcPro, I needed to automate the map generation.
This was done with ArcPy, a python package that allows automation of the ArcMap interface. Afterwards, the generated image sequence was combined to a video in Adobe Premiere.
I am working on an animation for the Letterkundig ( Literary) Museum in den Haag. I design the backdrop and the characters. The animation, in TV Paint and After Effects, is done by Vincent Booms at my studio.
Wanted to share this set of models from Rover Dangerfield. This toon was one of the last ones done in America. The last one I painted was Cool World. Most of the animation I painted was for independent studios with my company "KARTOON Ink & Paint". This set would have been thrown away after the movie was done. This is valuable to artists for color and shading. This also shows the work that went into this just for the models. These artists are fantastic, enjoy seeing the process.
Animation Learn it from a tutorial, added my own little touch to it, it's looking good so far but I will be using it in a live scene shortly. Stay tune in for more
I made three simple black and white animations for the launch of an ad campaign of a telephone company.
Here’s some of the hundreds of wacky character design sketches I did. These are in a more loose brush style. The client wanted something more clean, so I went for the digital brush look in the end, but I wanna do an animation of my own in brush style some time.
here’s the animations:

Here is the final rendered animation which lasts 18 seconds.
I feel the animation came out well although everything can be improved obviously. The facial rig and controllers I created made it very easy to animate this compared to using the blendshape window. I have used the controllers for the face along with the rest of the body/head rig to create a fairly smooth and flowing animation.
Things I think are good:
- The appearance of the character came out well with the lighting and setting. The skin shader that is applied reflects the light well and it doesn't look plastic which can occur sometimes. I feel the shadows work well with the animation as they make him look quite menacing at times, especially at the very end.
- The face is very animated and has strong expressions; thanks to the many blend shapes and fairly high-poly face. This was enjoyable to animate and I feel the result looks good as there are smooth, yet strong movements which was necessary to make this particular animation look right. Originally I intended him to be blinking throughout the animation, but as I was doing it I felt that having his eyes open throughout the whole thing helps to set the mood the character is in.
- I think the timing/pacing of the animation feels natural while still complimenting the non-realistic appearance
Things that could be better:
- I feel like I should have used the arms/rest of the body a little more to express what he is saying with more power however I don't think it's too bad. I would perhaps do something like slam his fist down on the table at the end when he says "There is no bathroom!" because he is clearly quite angry at this point.
- There are some skinning errors you can see especially at about ~5 seconds around the mouth and at 12-14 seconds when he raises his head up; the neck looks particularly bad as it doesn't deform properly and there is uneven faces that create a strange jagged look.
- Perhaps I could have created and used actual textures for the character, however I have barely any experience in this area because frankly I don't like it and am not very good at it. If anything it would have made the character look bad which I'd rather not do.

Just trying my hand at stop animation. It took me about an hour from start to finish, I thought it turned out alright for my first try.
I used a Nikon D80 and a Nikkor 18-70mm lense. I just used Microsoft Movie maker to compile the video. If I get more into it maybe I'll invest in better software.

My Olympus SP510UZ has a 'timelapse' mode, where I could set it up on a tripod, fix the focus and exposure manually, and then have it take a photo every minute... producing amateur crap like this. :) (Click the full-size image for the 5MB animated GIF.)
I was inspired after a small webcomic started begging for money so the artist could buy the US$2000 worth of gear supposedly needed to make his own stop-motion animations-- after mentioning having a computer better than mine. Uh, somehow, 'a lack of intellectual vibrancy' was showing through there...
(Note: this_used_ to be an animation-- but Flickr killed the feature. :/)
Just started doing the animation, for this i decided to block out the whole scene for the "Avi" character using a pose to pose approach, then build-upon the in-betweens with a straight ahead approach.
The last two actions need to be a bit sooner and snappier but this is working as a 2nd pass. after this ill start on the facial animation and do a final pass at the end to make it nice and shiny :D. ive decided to do the facial animation in the middle as ill need the general position of the character to make the best facial pose for that angle but I also want to get the facial animation started early so its not all left to the last phase.
