Sketch done in Python Processing. Loopable animation, 60 fps video. Done using P3D, looking down over two arrays of regularly spaced cubes displaced on the z-axis. Used ffmpeg to stitch the frames into a video.

(Downloading and viewing in VLC with looping turned on should show the full looped animation)

For my Blog I'm planning a CSS3-animated bookshelf. The video doesn’t run fluently. The animation does. It also works well in less-capable browsers.

So, it’s eventually online and you can find it at christophzillgens.com/en/books/.

University Project - To create an animation with photographic, drawn and collaged elements. My concept behind my animation was to create a bizarre and surreal take on everyday routines (such as drinking coffee and watching the ducks in the river outside my kitchen window) by combining them.

Gif animation of bench falls on Sunbeam Creek at Mt. Rainier, Washington State

My first Flickr Video. No longer can I claim to only upload photographs. I have been "Itemized"!

Anyway, this is a simple animation, but one that I am immensly proud of! I animated it on my DS! Yes! That's right. My Nintendo DS. I used a homebrew flickbook animation program called Animanatee, which is simply awesome! Very, very user friendly, and while there are a few features I'd love to see added in later releases, it's still stunningly fun to use as is.

On the DS, this animation loops, so the figure blows a bubble, pops the bubble, puts gum back in mouth, blows a bubble, pops a bubble, and so on.

I'm really getting into the whole homebrew stuff on the DS, and find that I'm using it far more for this than for games (except Professor Layton! Damn, that game is fun! And beautiful animation).

I also have a program called Colours! which I've been playing with, and hope to upload some examples of my work soon. Very soon. Like, today!

OSIRIS-REx Mission Design: Earth Return Animations

On September 24, 2023, OSIRIS-REx will return its sample of asteroid Bennu to Earth. The sample return capsule will detach from the spacecraft, perform an entry, descent and landing sequence, and touch down at the UTTR facility in Utah. The Bennu samples will be taken to Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas for curation, and will be studied by scientists around the world for decades to come.

Dali & Disney collaborated to make a short film animation. Yes, THAT Dali and THAT Disney.

From wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Destino

"Destino is a short animated cartoon released in 2003 by The Walt Disney Company. Destino is unique in that its production originally began in 1945, 58 years before its original release. The project was a collaboration between American animator Walt Disney and Spanish painter Salvador Dalí, and features music written by Mexican songwriter Armando Dominguez.

Destino was storyboarded by Disney studio artist John Hench and Dalí for eight months in late 1945 and 1946; however, financial concerns caused Disney to cease production. The Walt Disney Company, then Walt Disney Studios, was plagued by many financial woes in the World War II era. Hench compiled a short animation test of about 18 seconds in the hopes of rekindling Disney's interest in the project, but the production was no longer deemed financially viable and put on indefinite hiatus.

In 1999, Walt Disney's nephew Roy Edward Disney, while working on Fantasia 2000, unearthed the dormant project and decided to bring it back to life."

Animation of 28 DSLR frames (reduced to 640x480 format). The images were made using cross-polarized light through a petrographic microscope. The lower polarizer was rotated 5 degrees between frames. Field of view is about 0.0003 inch, top to bottom.

The "Ghubara" meteorite is found on the surface of the desert in Ghubara, Jiddat Al Harasis, Oman. Since its discovery in 1954 about 5,000kg have been recovered. It is unusually rich in noble gases and is classified as a regolith breccia L5 meteorite with xenolithic (mixed) inclusions.

it's a test of my animation abilities. I haven't animated frame by frame for about two (or one?) years and surprisingly didn't forget how to do it.

Jupiter, I shot this a wee while ago.. 2010 October 6-7

An animation of about 1/3 of Jupiter's rotation, captured using a 25cm Newtonian telescope at f5.6 and a Philips SPC900NC, using wxAstrocapture to control the webcam and record the videos to disc. A new video was shot every 10 minutes over three hours.

Registax was used to process each video. About 500 video frames (each 1/100s exposure) were averaged (stacked) for each frame of the final animation.

Registax was also used for the final registration of the frames for the animation, then Imagemagick to make the final animated GIF you see here (by clicking on the original-size option). Non "pro" flickr users can see the animation here: dl.dropbox.com/u/11530205/jupiter_rot.gif

It is not really very good, but serves of an example of what you can achieve using basic equipment and the wonderful software tools freely available.

For animation, download the original file, get the URL or copy and paste an HTML link.

To see the animation click on the picture...click on 'all sizes'.....click 'Original size', then wait a few seconds and the animation will start!

This animation was created from MRI scans made of my brain that were taken on May 13 2014 at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore. I was recruited to be one of the healthy participants in a research project studying brain functionality.

If this works, this should be animated in the full size version. Never tried this before, but I'm branching out ;)

Animation Courtyard

The Magic of Disney Animation -- This attraction underwent a major rehab in November 2003, and then another minor rehab in October 2004. Here's the current format:

The tour begins with visitors sitting in an area featuring a live artist. The 10-minute segment, called "Drawn to Animation," features the artist interacting with an animated version of the tiny dragon Mushu, from 1998's popular feature Mulan. After hearing about the importance of character development and watching a humorous video with some Mulan artists, guests will visit the area that overlooks what USED to be the workspace of Walt Disney Feature Animation Florida. The Cast Member in this segment talks briefly about animation, and answers a few questions. Unfortunately, the real Disney animators were all laid off in early January 2003, and the entire animation process relocated to Disney's California studios, so there is nothing much to see when you are released from that part of the tour. After the cast member's talk, visitors have the chance to visit a number of interactive activities or to sit for 15-20 minutes at a Mickey-themed animator table and create their own Disney character art at the Animation Academy, under the guidance of a Disney artist.

The Sound Stage -- In this hands-on activity, young animators can play with various sound effects and create their own soundtrack for an animated scene.

Digital Ink and Paint -- As these workstations you can add color to an animated scene, and create your own atmosphere.

You're a Character -- In this booth, you can visit with Lumiere (of Beauty and the Beast fame), who will ask you a series of questions and tell you which Disney character you are most like.
