Canadian Forces Station Alert, Nunavut
Gusting winds are the first sign of the blizzard to come, blowing snow around the Alert Destination sign at a face-numbing pace on the 19th of March, 2011. It would be the second blizzard to hit Canadian Forces Station Alert in a week. The Destination sign allows visitors to see at a glance how far the station is from many different cities in Canada and beyond.
Canadian Forces Station Alert was first settled in 1950 as part of the Joint Arctic Weather System. It is the northern most permantly inhabited point in the world and was named after a British ship, the HMS Alert. Today, CFS Alert plays an important role in establishing Canadian soverenty in the north.

Endangered species alert! A-10 Thunderbolt II Warthog from Fort Wayne's 122nd Fighter Wing (122nd Maintenance Group MXG), Indiana Air National Guard, rolls down runway 23 at Fort Wayne International Airport. In the next couple of years, the 122nd will be trading the A-10 for late model F-16 fighters. The Air Force is determined to permanently retire the A-10's, thank God they haven't done the same to the 122nd!

went out to see if I could find the GGO again this afternoon - wasn't disappointed. This guy put on quite a show for me - catching 4 voles in about 45 minutes - must have been a big lunch. pretty amazing...
According to the Inter-regional Environment Department IRCEL the concentrations of particulate matter measured in the air are again too high. A speed-limit of 90 km/hr on most motorways and orbitals in the country should help. Speed reductions will also come into effect in Brussels.

These Canada geese raise their necks to get a good view of their photographer. It's hunting season now, and they seem to know the risks. The geese a coots take a break from the whitecaps of this lake during a windy day in McIntosh County, North Dakota.

Today I heard a siren roaring. I was puzzled what it was for and asked a lady walking her dog. She said, " I don't know either but usually it's for weather alert. You better go into some building." So I went in a cafe & had a sandwicｈ(^_^;),

We dropped a layer of light blue mulsh on the blackrock only to then have it start to bubble. We then found ourselves peeling off thick layers of paint to reveal the original marble surface covered in hammerite/smootherite tags from the mid 80's. Instead of repainting the surface we decided to incorporate this crazy ass background into our pieces.
Odisy has also come out of his coma.
