Kudu are highly alert and notoriously hard to approach. When they detect danger – often using their large, radar-like ears – they give a hoarse alarm bark, then flee with a distinctive, rocking-horse running motion, the male laying back his horns to avoid overhead obstructions.

I was pleased to see my old friend the wild female fox that lives off one of the many trails in Anchorage. It's been two years since I was able to visit and here she was giving quite a look to something that was making noise off in the distance.
Taken 21 February 2023 in Anchorage, Alaska.

Green heron waiting for some food to perhaps wander by.........
From Audubon - Along quiet streams or shaded riverbanks, a lone Green Heron may flush ahead of the observer, crying 'kyow' as it flies up the creek. This small heron is solitary at most seasons and often somewhat secretive, living around small bodies of water or densely vegetated areas. Seen in the open, it often flicks its tail nervously, raises and lowers its crest. The 'green' on this bird's back is an iridescent color, and often looks dull bluish or simply dark.
That corresponds pretty closely with my experience with the Green Heron.

Two young Mule Deer glancing back for the source of a sudden sound. Not to worry, it was just some falling rocks.
This nesting pair of Osprey were on full alert protecting their young as another pair of Ospreys circled overhead.
This gorgeous little fellow was certainly very alert and keeping an eye on me while I was trying to move slowly in trying to capture that stance. Brave little fellow!
I was waiting patiently for something to happen, when this Dipper turned up. Clearly distressed and alarmed. No more than five metres from me and Sandy. After about a minute a Mink came around the bend, right up close, looked me in the eye, then turned around and headed back up river. The Dipper watched it for a while and promptly went back to check on its new nest site..

A lineman lookout blasts on his horn warning the rest of the team up the line to be aware of an approaching train.
He was quite busy foraging on a fallen tree for a few moments then he totally surprised me when he flew up and landed on a tree very close to where I was standing. I did not get the chance to zoom out to get his whole body in the frame, so I had to settle for a close up of his head and shoulders! :)

My energy drink can collection is now up to five and growing. Where this is going nobody knows. I can now say this is part of the energy drink series.
Each can was shot individually with my Nikon 55mm f/2.8 NIKKOR Micro with about a 6-10 image focus stack. They do seem to have a lot of potential for art. Five cans, a rectangular to polar coordinate conversion, a wavy window and yummy colors make this slider complete!

the Springbok is our national animal and also the emblem of our rugby team, there are big herds in most of our national parks, so they are never in short supply to photograph...to watch them pronk in the early morning and late afternoons is just wonderful.
This is a clip of David Attenborough's showing the Springbok pronk, enjoy it!
