This was taken when they ere all alert seeing a lioness near to them. The atmosphere was having surprisingly pin drop silence with inter between shouts of some birds.
When they visit, the does and their fawns are always on alert for strange sounds, or, in this case for the bark of the dog next door.
This is Stewart's "default" outdoor look. He is very alert because he has a strong hunting instinct.
So there was me, hunting for a clean knife to spread some butter on a hot cross bun when this fella hopped along the track outside the kitchen window. Elvis the cat was busy stalking him, but since she is a small cat and this was a big hare....I'm fairly sure it was all for show. Eventually he lolloped off down one of our fields, but there are such a lot of them around just now I'm sure I will see him again.
He knew I was there, but didn't seem to care!
