The Long-billed Thrasher (Toxostoma longirostre) enters the United States only in southern Texas. There, they are a common permanent resident of native woodland and thickets, foraging on the ground under dense cover. The name thrasher describes their behavior when searching for food on the ground: they use their long bills to "thrash" through dirt or dead leaves. The Long-billed Thrasher has a long and complicated song like other thrashers and mockingbirds, but it is not known to include mimicry in its repertoire. Although much of its natural habitat has been cleared, Long-billed Thrashers are still fairly common in brushy woodland and dense parts of suburbs and parks. This Long-billed Thrasher takes in his surroundings before taking a drink at the watering hole at the Laguna Seca Ranch near Edinburg, Texas.

This lovely male Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus), was seen relaxing on an anthill early in the morning just after sunrise.

Cheetahs normally sit at a vantage point to view the surrounding area and can normally sight their prey up to 5 Kms away which they are quick to chase down.

I’m not sure why there were several fires on the outskirts of Riga while I was there earlier this year. I noticed them as I was arriving in Latvia on the plane, and when I was leaving too; I also noticed them whenever I was at the top of a nice tall building – you can see a large one on the left of the horizon in this image, and smaller one to the right.

While on top of this building, which is a university, the sun was going down and the lights were coming on, which included the red warning lights which I thought were pretty cool extending from the building.

We spend so much time trying to shoot around things and get some items out of our shots to focus on what’s behind them, it’s nice to sometimes just bring that foreground item in as the subject.

This is the Cock Pheasant with its brilliantly colourful plumage.

The Common or Ring Pheasant: Phasianus colchicus

It’s thought that the Romans brought the pheasant to Britain and the Roman villa at Woodchester (c.AD 325) in Gloucestershire shows a recognisable ringneck pheasant. However, the earliest documentary evidence dates back to about 1177, suggesting that the first birds were introduced during the early part of the reign of Edward the Confessor (1042-1066).

The pheasants short and rounded wings allow rapid acceleration and reach speeds of 60mph but are not suited to sustained flights, so pheasants are non-migratory.

Cock pheasants have nothing to do with either incubation or rearing the chicks. Wild hen pheasants lay a clutch of between eight to 14 eggs, though clutches of up to 17 are not exceptional. The incubation period is around 23-24 days, with the chicks all hatching at once (synchronous hatching).

**** I GIVE THIS FILM A 10/10*****

so rogue one, I LOVED IT, favourite star wars movie TO DATE, even better than TFA. so yea, they all die, jyn, cassian even k-2SO. i almost cried when that happens, especially when jyn and cassian are together on the beach as the planet is destroyed! it is an amazing ending and it backs RIGHT onto a new hope.

EASTER EGGS:

there were A LOT of easter eggs in this film, starting from C3PO and R2 making an appearance, and they mentioned general sendula from star wars rebels over the loudspeaker in the rebel base, they even mentioned ben kenobi, YOU EVEN GET TO SEE PRINCESS LEIA AND GRAND MOFF TARKIN!!!!!! there is also those guys who pick on luke in the cantina and ben kenobi cuts of his arm!

COOL PARTS:

there were some GREAT scenes in this movie, especially when jyn and cassian were trying to get the plans over that chasm and when vader was kicking rebel ass in the Tantive IV. he was using all kinds of abilities such as saber deflection, choking, slamming against walls and all other epic stuff, and the shot at the end when he is standing there as the Tantive IV flies off, THAT was the $money shot$!!!!!

the actors were all great too, K2-SO stole the show with his humour and snide remarks, cassian and jyn were perfect together!! slowly getting to trust each other a little more, and in the end dying together. The soundtrack was amazing as usual especially this song www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Sw5fyr9rYo

i loved this film so much and will be making a V2 of my jyn erso minifigure and also making Cassian andor.

Another shot of one of the roe does that I saw late on Thursday afternoon in a field close to where I live.

Nature is beginning to wake up to spring. Roe deer are already finding food more easily, and the first swans have also landed on the lake.
