This is a cropped version of a recent prior submission which, the more I looked at it the less I liked it. This cuts out some distraction. I hope you enjoy it... more than the first! trh
The doe was about to flee, the tail is coming up and the front hoof is pounding the dirt, she came up to eat the seed pods that had fallen from the honey locust tree. Looks like she helps spread the sticker trees around the area.

That's the very essence of the red fox ... always on high alert. Their survival depends on it. It's like you can see the wheels turning in their minds ... calculating their next move to best insure their success. Steadfast determination to capture their prey, conserving as much energy as possible, motionless as they listen to the slightest sound that gives clues to the location of their next meal.
I have always been fascinated by the fox. Of course, their beauty is undeniable as well as their stealthy nature in their movement. However, for me, the most intriguing is their mind and what they must be thinking. I could watch them all day long ... sometimes even forgetting to photograph. LOL.

Nuthatches are small, quick moving birds. Taking a picture of them is quite a hassle. This is one of the successful ones (imho!)

All systems are on "alert". The kitten is loose in the house, and Batman is very protective of the babies.

Probably because I'd just told her she would have to move soon...
The swift fox kits watch with trepidation as a Swainson's hawk flies low along the dirt road in front of them. The kits probably weigh only 3-4 pounds each, and as such are on the menu for some of the larger raptors in the area, especially golden eagles. They are smart to watch the skies and stay close to the safety of the den.
I always feel a little electricity in the air when I come suddenly upon a deer in the wild. I think it has something to do with how alert the deer becomes when it senses my presence. There is a vibrancy inherent in this level of mindfulness--no thoughts or judgements--just a total immersion in observing the moment.
Now I'm heading back to immerse myself in work. See ya all next weekend.

Vaction in LA for a week!!
Hazel was sleeping on this branch, but when another squirrel ran past she was on full alert instantly. She noticed, even though she was 5 meters above the ground and that other squirrel was not loud at all (Squirrels-2020-9944.jpg)
