Hello everybody! Today I want to show you acreation which I've made in the last days. After creating some fantasy based figures I thought it would be nice to use at least some of them in MOCs :) . Here I made a little house with a fantasy based scenery (therefore there's a bigger mushroom or some taller flowers).
I'm also happy to announce that wlwyb and I started a collaboration: In the next 7 days you can get a 10% discount when you order a periodic table on the website ( shop.wlwyb.com/products/periodic-table-for-lego-colors ). You just have to use the discount code: Balbo .
I hope you like it :)

"I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath
Scared to rock the boat and make a mess
So I sat quietly, agreed politely
I guess that I forgot I had a choice
I let you push me past the breaking point
I stood for nothing, so I fell for everything
You held me down, but I got up (hey)
Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice, you hear that sound
Like thunder, gonna shake the ground
You held me down, but I got up (hey)
Get ready 'cause I've had enough
I see it all, I see it now
I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter
Dancing through the fire
'Cause I am a champion, and you're gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
'Cause I am a champion, and you're gonna hear me roar"

I think most would agree that 2019 was a weird, shake-things-up kind of year for most railroads. Double stacks on the Corman is just one of those things to make the year memorable.
On Oct. 26, 2019, the RJC job to CSX at Warwick picked up a cut of 24 container platforms (plus some other misc. freight) for the run south on the former B&O/CL&W. The double stacks, heading to RSL in Massillon to be loaded with grain for export, are likely the first to ever run on the line, which has changed over the years from being primarily passenger, to coal, to steel, to chemical products. The GP20E/SD40T-2/GP16 consist of Southern Pacific and Seaboard System lineage made things more interesting. In this scene, the train is crossing through the switches at CP Mace on the NS Fort Wayne Line in Massillon, a line that hasn't seen steady container traffic since the Conrail era.

Locker room talk!
Not everyone is amused....
Some focus issues in this shot, but I hope you'll agree, worth posting for the message, anyway....
1948 Tucker
Some might say that Preston Tucker was a genius, and whether that's true, or not, is certainly debatable. But, I think we all could agree that he was a visionary with his car, and it's design. Advanced concepts that would take years and even decades for other car manufacturers to follow suit with, if at all. Air cooled rear engines, front wheel drive, electric assist manual transmission shifter, safety features largely unheard of in production cars at the time. Features like pop out windshield in the event of an accident, disc brakes, seat belts, padded dash, front right passenger safety zone, a third headlight that moved as the car turned, surely, I missed some. Some of these already had found a home in his first effort, the '48, and if he had remained in business his later models would have included those items not yet on the 48. The car I will show over the next series of shots was present at the annual Lime Rock Labor Day event in '24. It happens to be the 44th one produced out of the 51 he made before he, and his company got into trouble. The Big 3 had to be threatened by Preston's dream car, and one has to wonder what role they had played in Tucker's eventual demise? What made seeing this car special at the show was a chance to meet and talk with Tucker's great grandsons, twins I believe, and they had brought number 44 to the show.

Selection of Gourds. The Angel Gallery in Broseley (near Ironbridge), Shropshire, has kindly agreed to exhibit a selection of my limited-edition still-life images. I'm pleased with this as it's a lovely gallery and they haven't exhibited photography before.
My still-life images are all light-painted with diffused torchlight. Each element of the composition is illuminated separately and the images are then all blended together.
Just found out that some of images are going into the Visit East Lothian handbook.
Their website can be found here: www.visiteastlothian.org/home.asp
I have some images in their gallery but they have been heavily cropped so wasn't happy with these, but hopefully this will be resolved in the handbook.
This shot is a cropped version of the original as there was a foreground rock but sometimes I like the less cluttered approach...

There is just something about 'trains in streets' don't you agree?
Even a going away shot is worthy to capture the feel of something so anachronistic. While more segments are lost every year, others continue to soldier on. Get them while you can!
On a nice fall morming New York, Susquehanna and Western local freight UT-1 has four cars in tow led by 3040 (EMD straight GP40 blt. May 1970 as AWP 732) as they work their way down the middle of Schuyler Street. They are nearing the end of the 3200 foot long stretch down the middle of the road as they approach the intersection with Wager Street near MP 285.1 on this former Lackawanna Railroad route. The cars in tow will be spotted at customers located on some branches consisting of historic former West Shore (NYC) and New York, Ontario and Western trackage.

I agree that constraints help spur creativity. Today I ended up playing with a bunch of different subjects but came back to work on my bees. Again working close up with the 36mm extension tube on my 100mm macro lens. There was a bit of sunlight I was able to coax onto this large pumpkin blossom. The bees in this blossom were in like a drunken stupor and didn't move like the others I encountered. They were less inclined to move much which made it easier to work. I love the hairy details of the blossom and the balls of pollen on the bees legs.
Thanks for visiting, hope you aren't getting bored or grossed out by all of the bees. I'm a big fan of bees but not wasps, yellow jackets, earwigs, spiders, flies, or mice. Oh, and update on the mice, we did catch one in a trap. Feeling a bit better about life but just wish all the pests would stay outside and I wouldn't have to be bothered with them.

The white-capped albatross (Thalassarche cauta steadi) is a mollymawk that breeds on the islands off of New Zealand.
Not all experts agree that this form should be recognized as a separate species from the shy albatross, Thalassarche cauta. It is a medium-sized black, slate grey, and white albatross and is the largest of the mollymawks.
The white-capped albatross averages 90 to 99 cm (35–39 in) in length, with a wingspan of 220 to 256 cm (87–101 in). It weighs 3.4 to 4.4 kg (7.5–9.7 lb)
It has a bold white cap that contrasts with a pale silver grey face and a darker brow. Some adults have a white back with brown tipped feathers. They have a dark grey mantle and a black tail. Most of the rest of the body is white. Its bill is pale grey to blue with a yellow tip. Juveniles have a grey bill with a dark tip, and their head is darker, with grey to the collar.
They are endemic to the islands off the coast of New Zealand, with a population of 75,000 breeding pairs, estimated in 2007, and 350,000 to 375,000 total birds.
Disappointment Island has 72,000 pairs, Auckland Island has 3,000 pairs, Adams Island (Auckland Islands) has 100 pairs, and Bollons Island (Antipodes Islands) has 100 pairs.
Juvenile and non-breeding birds are believed to forage in the southwestern Atlantic and a recent DNA test of a South Georgia bird confirmed it.
Also, using different techniques, scientists have proven that they forage off the coast of southwestern Africa. Juveniles are also believed to go as far as the south Atlantic and the southwestern Indian Ocean.

Kuldīga's brick bridge over the Venta river is one of the symbols of Kuldīga. The bridge is located about 200 m below the Venta Rapid Since 1998, it has been an architectural monument of national importance. The bridge is the third longest brick bridge in Europe and the second oldest brick arch bridge in Latvia. It was built between 1873 and 1874 and cost 120,000 rubles.
The brick bridge over the Venta has been in service since 1874 and was designed by Oto Dīce. It is built according to 19th century road standards. The 164 m long seven-span brick masonry arch bridge on boulder supports was not only the largest and most luxurious in Latvia, but also one of the most modern in Europe. The bridge was illuminated by lanterns in 6 decorative cast-iron lampposts with bases cast in the shape of fish. At that time, the achievements in bridge construction were clearly evidenced by the width of the bridge, which was sufficient for two carriages driving towards each other to move along it at the same time.
During the First World War in 1915, two spans of the bridge on the right bank were destroyed. In 1926, they were restored in reinforced concrete.
In 1958, the stone pavement of the bridge was covered with asphalt.
Already at the end of the 90s of the 20th century, the Kuldīga arch bridge over the Venta required extensive restoration. In August 2007, upon the order of the Kuldīga City Council, restoration works were started. According to the agreed project, the reconstruction of the building structures and engineering communications strengthening the bearing capacity of the bridge was carried out, as well as the external decoration of the bridge was partially restored. On August 28, 2008, after more than a year of restoration, the bridge was officially opened.

He makes her kneel before him and she agrees only to plan her escape. She thinks maybe the "seduction by bubbles" move may work. She nods and thinks yes then I can restrain him, gaze into his eyes and send him off to sleep......yes....her plan is hatched....just needs the right moment in which to execute. She starts to gaze into his eyes slowly seducing him into a sense of false security....arghhh yes it is working...she sees his eyelids fluttering...
Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona.
Vast, magnificent and inarguably beautiful, the Grand Canyon is easily Arizona’s most distinguishable landmark – and a natural wonder that you simply have to see to believe. Stretching 277 miles from end to end, steep, rocky walls descend more than a mile to the canyon’s floor, where the wild Colorado River traces a swift course southwest. Rock that dates back 1.8 billion years lies at the bottom. Exactly how the river formed the canyon is still unclear, but geologists generally agree that most of the cutting occurred within the last five million years.
I'm in Boston visiting friends, like I do every year. We've been walking everywhere.....to the arts festival on Beacon Hill, thru Chinatown, through Boston Gardens....etc.
Today my friend had an appointment so I walked down to the neighborhood I'd lived in immediately after college graduation.
I've taken photos of everything...all the changes, all that remains the same.
Today I went into the historic Old South Church of Boston.
This past weekend the Bishop of Providence RI tweeted that his congregants should not support the LGBTQ Pride events that are going on around the country.
The mantra of some of the more extreme Christian right is to "love the sinner, hate the sin"
In the foyer of this old historic Church I saw this.
With all I've seen, this is my favorite sight.
Imo.....the real message.
In fact, they rarely agreed on anything.
They fought all the time and challenged each other everyday. But in spite their differences, they had one important thing in common:
They were crazy about each other."

Hic Sunt Dracones (Here be dragons) is a phrase used to denote unexplored territories.
I do not believe that there are dragons in the "Taunus" - a landscape near Mainz and Wiesbaden. But yesterday morning while I was traveling from Mainz to Nastätten I saw the shadow of a big cat. Oh no, not what you think. No funny cute kitten - I've seen the shadow of a really big cat. Something like a lion, a tiger, a leopard, a cheetah or so. And then I heard it: The sound of the terrifying cat. Yes, believe me. Maybe you are lucky and have a look ;-))

Together with my partner and two friends, I agreed to post one themed photo every month to drag us all out of our comfort zones. The theme for August is ‚Music‘ and today is… f**k,… the 31st! I totally forgot about it and had to create something out of nothing in record time. Well, agreed means agreed and there is no way out of it. Not sure if I would be able to get a decent price if I would try to sell one of my beloved electric guitars using this photo. I better leave it with you guys and potentially I’m open for bids ;)
Well, Happy New Year everyone!!! To say that I've taken a bit of a break from Flickr is an understatement! I don't believe that I've posted for almost 8 months .... that's crazy! I think that I just needed to take a creative break in my routine ... and I did put Flickr back on my radar for 2020 ... but I had company in town which prevented me from posting until now. So, without further adieu, I hope to get back to posting regularly. Fingers crossed anyways. :-)
I thought I would start out with my absolute favorite subject ... brown bears ... especially those in hot pursuit of salmon. This particular one just came up for air, shaking off the excess water in the process. To me, no subject is more exhilarating than this. To witness their power, skill, and survival instincts, is eye-opening indeed. Anyone else out there agree?
Thanks so much for being quite patient with me ... and I'll be around to checking out everyone's photo streams as well. I have missed my Flickr family for sure. Many of you have become my shooting buddies and tour guides when passing through your areas, a nd most importantly, my source of inspiration. Thanks and Happy New Year!!!
Two versions of Martigues, Provence, France, both of them under windy conditions unfortunately, but hey, it was still officially winter. Flickr chose the day version to be on top, I tend to agree in this case.
Soon to become a youth oriented music and entertainment centre. Judging from what I’ve read when I tried to find out just what this building was / is / will be, opinions are divided, some locals are complaining about the cost, others think a better use could be found. One thing I think we can all agree on, it’s an amazing piece of modern architecture and needs to be maintained and used.

I always think the land surrounding where we live is desolate. Today, Dad agreed with me. I do not like flat land - it is boring. And with winter it becomes even more empty. No leaves, no flowers, such little colour is is hardly worth mentioning. Once I have finished my degree, I am leaving here, possibly never to come back. I do not care where I go, so long as there are hills, or mountains, or the sea, or sand, or cliffs or marshes or literally anything other than fenlands.
