Hurricane Sandy - Aftermath

Tuckerton Beach, NJ

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This is the aftermath of the blizzard that we experienced yesterday (Feb 10, 2010). It’s only about 12-14 inches in New York City.

I heard other states and towns got more than 24 inches of snow.

The aftermath of the north easterly storm shows the wind easing, the seas dropping and the sky with welcome patches of blue. This is the stark volcanic rock which guards the entrance to the Opoutere Estuary on the east coast of the Coromandel peninsular.

The aftermath of Christmas afternoon - discarded wrapping paper all over the living room

After driving to Ottawa, spending several hours enjoying ourselves, and then driving back, we were all looking forward to hanging out and relaxing. In order to promote relaxation we intended to order in.

However, by the time we arrived at our friends' house (we stopped at home on the way so I could take the dog out to pee, so they got home 15 minutes before we got there), Nancy had set out a great spread of wraps, cheese, crackers, bread, olive oil with balsamic vinegar, olives, and cucumbers.

Impressive, delicious, and healthier than ordering pizza!

135th Anniversary Re-enactment

Just moments after the sun found its way behind the clouds when sunlight slipped through and "burned" it with red-orange color. It almost seemed like an explosion in the sky and the water on the rock surface mirrored the sky light.
