Rue de Paris - 17th and 18th century.

.

One of the Travers le temps sections. Vintage shops, facades and decorations constructed just like how it was in the early beginning of modern-day Paris. Nice vintage posters decorate the walls, the few streetlights illuminate the scene. Even the train accident at the Montparnasse trainstation can be seen.

The "Abri de Laugerie Basse", today it consists of a number of inhabited terraced houses under the overhanging rock face. It's also an important Upper Paleolithic archaeological site known for several works of art from the Magdalenian era. This shelter was inhabited by prehistoric man from about 14,000 BC in the Middle Magdalenian era.

Excavations of the site revealed about 600 art objects from the Magdalenian era. Among that the first Paleolithic sculptural representation of a woman discovered in modern times named "Immodest Venus" (French: Vénus impudique) which gave its name to the genre of paleolithic Venus figurines.

Engineer oldest Dry Dock in the Netherlands located in Hellevoetsluis.

I noticed almost every house isn't equal to the ones next to it. This results in a very nice variety of architecture making it easy to remember where you are. I think it's a healthy way to live because it gives the inhabitants a way to express a unique identity. For others a unique way to be remembered by.

This kind of communities are nowhere near to the modern way of living. With endless rows of equal houses, many even stacked several floors high where the most don't actualy know their nextdoor neighbor.

So it's a feast for me be in Monpazier, my greedy eyes direct my camera where to go click after click. For some photos I add my own bit of bricolage, creating perfect views of places where many of us dream to live.

The small village Monpazier, a 13th-century bastide town, founded in 1285 and built by King Edward I of England for trade, commerce and justice. It almost didn't change in the past centuries, a medieval town square lined with an arched arcade, a 16th-century covered market, three of the original six rampared city gates remain and many other traces of medieval history. This picturesque small village is one of the "Les Plus Beaux Villages de France" villages, said to be one of the most atractive in southwest France.

Maincy: Landscape Photography

Vaux-le-Vicomte (Est.1658) - a baroque French château on a 33 hectares (100 acres) estate with formal gardens along a three-kilometer axis. Built between 1658 to 1661 for Nicolas Fouquet, Marquis de Belle Île, Viscount of Melun and Vaux, the superintendent of finances of Louis XIV. The name means a symbol of power and influence and was intended to reflect the grandeur of Nicolas Fouquet. The château was an influential work of architecture in mid-17th-century Europe. The architect Louis Le Vau, the landscape architect André le Nôtre, and the painter-decorator Charles Le Brun worked together on this large-scale project. This marked the beginning of the "Louis XIV style" combining architecture, interior design and landscape design. Their next following project was to build Versailles.

The lighthouse of Hellevoetsluis at sunset, it's location is a famous landmark in Dutch national history in the role of a 17 century naval base of the Admiralty of the Maze. It is the same pier where the silver fleet of Piet Hein was disembarked in 1629, the journey with Michiel de Ruyter to Chatham began (Raid on the Medway in 1667). On November 11, 1688, William III and his fleet began their journey to England, to ascend the throne with his wife Mary, and to become King of England, Scotland, and Ireland.

Esterenburg Farm, one of the many historical sites and structures at the Voorne-Putten region. This monumental farm dates back to 1738. Nowadays it's almost a view back into history, over time nothing or very little has changed and only those with a sharp eye see what brings this farm into today's time.

In history it was originally a farm and owned by a wealthy family, who leased the use of the land and the building to a farmer. Because the owner sometimes stayed on the farm in the summer, such a farm could be given the character of a country estate. The Esterenburg is one of the most authentic farms in the region.

Inspiring dark medieval view at Château de Beynac. This castle dates far back into a dark medieval era where daily life begun at sunrise and almost stopped during the deep dark nights. Beynac-et-Cazenac: Chateau de France

One of the most impressive castles in the Dordogne valley, Château de Beynac (Est. 1115). Built by the barons of Beynac. Perched on top of a limestone cliff with double crenellated walls, moats and barbican. it has a grand view over the Dordogne valley with other castles in all directions.

The Dordogne region was the theatre of numerous struggles for influence, rivalries and occasionally battles but the castles fell more often through ruse and intrigue rather than by direct assault. During the Hundred Years' War the Dordogne was the border between France and England. The fortress at Beynac was in French hands and Château de Castelnaud, on the opposite bank of the Dordogne river, was held by the English. At Châlus in the same Aquitaine region of Château de Beynac is where Richard Cœur de Lion, King of England (ruled from 1189–1199) died.

Nowadays it's one of the best preserved castles, a monument of history and absolutely worth to visit.
