The Race of the Classics (ROTC or "de rees"), the largest and most prominent student sailing event in Europe, where teams from many Universities and Colleges from the Netherlands will sail a race on an impressive fleet of large classic sailing ships. The ships sail from the Rotterdam Veerhaven towards the coast of England, and then finish in Amsterdam.

Pays de Belves - The village Pays-de-Belvès used to be called Belvès, it's fortified in the Middle Ages because of its strategic position and came to be known as the "Pope’s city" as it was under Clement V protection. Belvès still bears witness to a tormented past with fortified walls, a castrum (fortified camp), an 11th century auditeur’s tower, 14th-15th century castle and belfry, city hall tower, covered market, hotel with a Renaissance façade and even some ancient troglodyte dwellings. It has been designated as one of the most beautiful towns in France with impressive panoramic views on top of a hill, enough reason to be member of the "Plus Beaux Villages de France".

Many small fishing vessels really add color to the harbour. Many of those in a typical design frequently seen at the Côte d'Azur of the French Riviera. Fishermen still go out to the Mediterranean sea for various catch of the day portions. Overall the harbor looks like time has no great influence, so little had changed because it's almost the same view just like the vintage photos and paintings.

Cassis - One of the typical French coastline villages, Cassis (Est. 500BP). Popular but still one of those beautiful villages at the French Riviera in Southern France. Also a classic type of harbour with many of those typical fishing boats and colorful building facades. With some nice terraces, a nice boulevard, even a beach for a nice day at the beach or a boat trip to the Massif des Calanques further along the coast.

Historical silent streets. It's a very nice walk in this old French village with many silent streets, some houses are very old and mostly stiil inhabited. The streets breath so much of history, some decennia, most of all some ages in time.

The shop features several regularly changing tabletop set-ups and models, some made by customers. One can join in or watch ongoing gameplay and also construct and paint in a very friendly atmosphere.

Playground and garden ponds at the time Josephine Baker lived here. Many of these traces are still there, the outdoor stage, the Music Hall, but it's silent now. You can feel the presence of this history very clear.
After WWII, Baker was caught up in a new dream. She would create a “Rainbow Tribe,” a bevy of children of different nationalities and religions who would live together in peace. She eventually adopted 10 boys and 2 girls.
One children’s room has been restored at Les Milandes, used by her first child Akio, originally from Korea, who is now a banker in Paris.
She also adopted Janot (Japanese), now a gardener in Monaco; Jari (Finnish), a restaurateur in New York; Luis (Colombian), a businessman in Monaco; Marianne (north African), a medical secretary in Paris; Brahim (north African), author of a book about Baker; Moise (French and Jewish), who died in 1997; Jean-Claude (French), a writer in Paris; Noel (French), a Paris restaurateur; Koffi (Ivory Coast), a restaurateur in Buenos Aires; Mara (Venezuelan), employed by the French government in St. Etienne; and Stellina (Moroccan), who teaches French in Italy.

Chateau des Milandes - Freda Josephine Baker (June 3, 1906 – April 12, 1975), naturalized as Joséphine Baker, was an American-born French dancer, singer and actress. Her career was centered primarily in Europe, mostly in her adopted France. She was the first black woman to star in a major motion picture. During her early career, Baker was among the most celebrated performers to headline the revues of the Folies Bergère in Paris with her costume, consisting of only a short skirt of artificial bananas and a beaded necklace. She became an iconic image and a symbol both of the Jazz Age and the Roaring Twenties.
She raised her children in France at Chateau des Milandes. She aided the French Resistance during World War II and awarded the Resistance Medal by the French Committee of National Liberation, the Croix de Guerre by the French military, and Chevalier of the Légion d'honneur by General Charles de Gaulle.
On November 30, 2021, she was inducted into the Panthéon in Paris, the first black woman to receive one of the highest honors in France. As her resting place remains in Monaco Cemetery, a cenotaph was installed in vault 13 of the crypt in the Panthéon.

One of the nice things to see are the various art shops. Antique, art, souvenir type of objects, local produced products and lots more. I noticed this huge classic painting reproduction but if we look closer both models are covered with modern tattoos. It's a nice twist to something so classic but I think with a very nice result.
The shop is very nice too, it's called "Vhome - Cabinet de Curiosités" with lots of very special and unique objects in store.

Sarlat-la-Caneda - One of the most prominent villages in the Dordogne region is Sarlat-la-Canéda. A very popular destination in the Périgord Noir, maybe because modern history has largely passed it by. Sarlat has remained preserved and one of the towns most representative of 14th century France. The old centre consists of impeccably restored stone buildings, with 77 protected monuments it's on France's tentative list for future nomination as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Largely car-free with lots of narrow ancient streets and small stores, an absolute pleasure to walk through and to discover.

These French castles are still dominating the surrounding valleys and see every single move at the Dordogne river. Just a little downstream the Dordogne river there's one of it's greatest rivals, Château de Beynac. Upstream the's Château de Montfort. They, any many more castles like these, all took part in many medieval wars.
These castles must have been very impressive during the ancient middle ages but still are today. The beauty of these French castles, these fortresses and castle grounds of medieval times are huge, most of them restored with taste and respect to it's history. Nowadays our precious monuments of European history. The various views of these castles give a feeling of time travel in modern times, allmost unique proof of human medieval history.

While shopping I noticed these beach activity decorations. With the days of summer ahead it reminds us we will be wearing much less than our regular winter or early spring clothing.
It's always a special occasion when we can finally go to the beaches again. The normally worn (body concealing) clothing is exchanged for a much more airy, more revealing outfit for the beach. It's lso the moment we see ourselves differently, Not only does the sun have free rein to give the body a beautiful summer tint, but everyone can also be seen almost naked in all its glory. Many enjoy this graceful, well-formed or muscular and healthy presentation. But it is clear that some prefer, for that short period of fun on the beach, to be in all collected glory on the beach than to pay attention to their health, size and weight all year round.

One of the Travers le temps sections. Vintage shops, facades and decorations constructed just like how it was in the early beginning of modern-day Paris. Nice vintage posters decorate the walls, the few streetlights illuminate the scene. Even the train accident at the Montparnasse trainstation can be seen.

Chateau des Milandes - One of the most romantic castles has to be Château-des-Milandes (Est. 1489). It has to forms of defence like regular castles. In medieval history it was the former manor mainhouse of the lords of Coumont, owners of the nearby Chateau Castelnaud-la-Chapelle. The castle is renovated between 1900 and 1914, between 1940-1968 inhabited and owned by Josephine Baker. Nowadays it's a well preserved caste, a monument historique, jardin remarkable, with a brassery, bird of prey show and a unique museum and exhibition dedicated to Josephine Baker.

The Pagoda can be seen from afar, with the high altitude that this attraction reaches not for people who suffer from vertigo. What might help is the large number of children who just get in, so why would you still stand downstairs yourself.

The Cornucopia of the park.

A very special catering facility to see is "Le Restaurant du Lac".
We think it should be named "Cornucopia" following the naming style of the park, it's indeed near to the lake but the gigantic pieces of fruit and vegetables are the most important feature and can be seen from afar. Unique in design and also very realistic up close.
The restaurant is surrounded with many tables on a large outdoor terrace permanently covered with colorful umbrellas, which gives it a summery appearance.

The design and architecture of the Flying Dutchman attraction is breathtakingly beautiful. The atmosphere of a VOC harbor from the Golden Age has been incorporated in the building in so many details and features in an original way. More than a hundred different ornaments in this attraction have been designed and produced by Efteling, some in large numbers. The weekly market at the Place de Cornieres, with many stalls selling local goods at the 13th-century village square and surrounding streets. The square has always been a place of commerce and trade, in a way so little has changed in time. The market is not that crowded at all, an excellent moment to enjoy a nice French market and lots of local grown or produced products for sale.

The old centre consists of impeccably restored stone buildings, with 77 protected monuments it's on France's tentative list for future nomination as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Largely car-free with lots of narrow ancient streets and small stores, an absolute pleasure to walk through and to discover.

It shows so many details and they also used to be painted too, even the weapons were included. This burial gift must have been very impressive, in creation, presentation and sure is in Chinese history.

Exhibition "L'armée Terracotta - l'héritage de l'empereur chinois éternel". It shows items part of one of the greatest discoveries of the last century, the terracotta army discovered in 1974, dated about 2,200 years ago, then ancient China of the first Chinese emperor.
The 8,000 terracotta soldiers were a burial gift for Emperor Qin Shi Huang Di (259 -210 BC). The archaeological site, now a UNESCO World Heritage site, encompasses a stunning 98 square kilometers (38 square miles). As many as 700,000 conscripted workers have worked on the project to recreate the army of the Chinese emperor in terracotta, that is more than have worked on the pyramid of Cheops. Some time after the burial the collection was destroyed and weapons stolen by a rival emperor. The exhibition shows realistic replicas and unfortunately not the originals because they are too fragile to transport.

The new station is made of steel, glass and white concrete. It includes a monumental arch, 160 metres (520 ft) long and 32 metres (105 ft) high. It has nine tracks and five platforms (three of 450 metres (1,480 ft) and two of 350 metres (1,150 ft)). All the tracks around the station have been modernised to allow high-speed arrival and departure. It includes a restaurant and expo facility. In design, an extra trip for those who love to catch some very nice architecture photos.

A royal welcome at "The Emperors New Clothes" (Est. 2012) in the palace garden. In a setting of a high palace wall, built in a mixture of Baroque and Rococo elements with a tea dome and an ornate gate an Imperial scene. A better name for this scen would be "Les Habits neufs de l'Empereur". Stately and in style, the fairy tale is narrated by Paul van Vliet, on the stage scenes in which the emperor is allowed to appear with or eventually also without clothing under a roof carried by four footmen.
According to the Efteling, the emperor has the same name as the mythological figure Roman Emperor Narcissus, according to a quote from Emperor Narcissus above the left gate: "Summa pulchritudo mea, donum mundi est, Caesar Narcissus" (Latin for: "My enormous beauty is a gift to the world - Emperor Narcissus").

It's a region with a high level of culinary delicacies, so many special specialties, many more exceptional flavors. Flames and roar by the multi headed Draconicon Dragon. The visitors cheer when after some herioc fighting with huge flames and intense roar the multi headed dragon becomes silent. It also marks the end of a spectecular show and performance with horses and birds of prey. Kids are very impressed, they could even feel the heat of the flames.

Also, lots to do like short boattrips, visit the various musea, watch the naval parade and fireworks show late at night. With about 200.000 visitors in total a well attended event.

Many small fishing vessels really add color to the harbour. Many of those in a typical design frequently seen at the Côte d'Azur of the French Riviera. Fishermen still go out to the Mediterranean sea for various catch of the day portions. Overall the harbor looks like time has no great influence, so little had changed because it's almost the same view just like the vintage photos and paintings.

Chateau des Milandes - One of the most romantic castles has to be Château-des-Milandes (Est. 1489). It has to forms of defence like regular castles. In medieval history it was the former manor mainhouse of the lords of Coumont, owners of the nearby Chateau Castelnaud-la-Chapelle. The castle is renovated between 1900 and 1914, between 1940-1968 inhabited and owned by Josephine Baker. Nowadays it's a well preserved caste, a monument historique, jardin remarkable, with a brassery, bird of prey show and a unique museum and exhibition dedicated to Josephine Baker.

Mushrooms in various sizes at the Mildenburg Estate. The protected dune and nature reserve is exceptionally rich in many types of mushrooms in autumn. It's one of the most special characteristic of this area but it also shows how vulnerable this habitat of nature is.

Oostvoorne: Landgoed Mildenburg - Nature Photography
The "Landgoed Mildenburg" estate dates back to the sixteenth century. In the course of the 18th century, the Van Leyden van Leeuwen family built a country house and laid out the surrounding landscape still visible today. In even included a lighthouse and In the southwest corner of the site a variant of a starry forest with avenues and wooded areas, a copy of the labyrinth at Versailles according to an image by Charles Perrault from 1679.
The house has since been demolished and the garden has become a wilderness. Nowadays the estate is a monument and a beautiful nature reserve and managed and maintained by the Zuid Hollands Landschap. What remains for visitors is to enjoy the remaining walking routes with majestic lanes through a beech forest with many traces of the former park along the Dunes of Oostvoorne. Visitors might also like an unique Stinsenplant garden and many other features of this park.
