The Vestingdagen (Fortress Days) in Hellevoetsluis, an annual multi-day event since 1979. Very popular and with lots of activities in and around the former naval base of the Netherlands. With many historic and vintage ships and vehicles, steam engines, fair and market, various types of demonstrations in the air and ofcourse on the water. Also, lots to do like short boattrips, visit the various musea, watch the naval parade and fireworks show late at night. With about 200.000 visitors in total a well attended event.

I's very nice to watch the large lemur population in the park. Many lemur species are represented, including the ring-tailed lemur (Lemur catta), the red ruffed lemur (Varecia rubra), the crowned lemur (Eulemur coronatus), and the red-bellied lemur (Eulemur rubriventer). These lemurs roam freely about the park, and occasionally interact with visitors.

Parc des Felins
Parc des Félins (Est. 2006) is a zoological park in France dedicated to the breeding and conservation of wild members of the cat family. It is located in the commune of Lumigny-Nesles-Ormeaux in Seine-et-Marne. The park covers an area of 60 hectares (150 acres). It's a unique Zoo because it's without cages, the parc uses enclosures only that provide a near natural habitat for the animals. For example, the African cheetahs have an enclosure with enough space for them to run.
The park is divided into four large sections with various enclosures: European, African, American and Asian. Of the 41 recognized species of felines in the world, the park has 30 different species and subspecies, with a total of 140 cats. This includes species like cheetahs, lions, Servals, wild cats, leopards, Caracals, white lions, black panthers, a Katanga lion, jaguars, Ocelots, margays, Geoffroy's cats, Oncillas, pumas and bobcats. The jaguarundis which are very rare in European zoos. Most recent addition are black footed cats.

Sarlat-la-Caneda - One of the most prominent villages in the Dordogne region is Sarlat-la-Canéda. A very popular destination in the Périgord Noir, maybe because modern history has largely passed it by. Sarlat has remained preserved and one of the towns most representative of 14th century France. The old centre consists of impeccably restored stone buildings, with 77 protected monuments it's on France's tentative list for future nomination as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Largely car-free with lots of narrow ancient streets and small stores, an absolute pleasure to walk through and to discover.

Many small fishing vessels really add color to the harbour. Many of those in a typical design frequently seen at the Côte d'Azur of the French Riviera. Fishermen still go out to the Mediterranean sea for various catch of the day portions. Overall the harbor looks like time has no great influence, so little had changed because it's almost the same view just like the vintage photos and paintings.

Le Buisson-de-Cadouin: Documentairy Photography
The 13-man OSS team was parachuted into the Cadouin area of France in the early hours of August 12, 1944. This was just three days before the Allied landings in Provence (Operation Dragoon), making their mission crucial for diverting German attention and hindering their movements. The main goal was to disrupt German efforts to move troops and supplies north to reinforce their positions against the Allied invasion. This involved sabotage, guerrilla warfare and coordination by working closely with existing French Resistance networks (like the British SOE's Digger network and local Maquis groups such as Max, Marsouin, and Alberte) to maximize their impact.
The team consisted of 13 American commandos, led by 1st Lieutenant Thomas Allen Legare. They were the fourth of eight OSS operational groups dispatched to France from the UK.
Upon landing, despite one man spraining an ankle and a broken radio transmitter (which cut off direct contact with their headquarters), the team was met by local Resistance fighters who provided them with food and accommodation. They conducted several operations like the Agen Fuel Depot, Marmande Petrol Train, Libourne and finally the Dordogne River Ambush on August 27, the OSS group and the Resistance attempted to ambush a German convoy south of the Dordogne River. They engaged with automatic weapons and grenades. Finally the entry into Bordeaux after the liberation of the Périgord region (between August 22-25, 1944), the Resistance leaders requested the Americans to show themselves to the population. The commandos participated in parades in various villages, including Cadouin, Périgueux, and Bergerac on September 3, to boost the morale of the local inhabitants.
Operation Percy Pink, a fascinating and significant, though perhaps lesser-known, episode of World War II in France. But Operation Percy Pink, like other OSS and SOE missions, played a vital role in supporting the French Resistance. By providing trained personnel, equipment, and coordination, these groups helped the Maquis.

Efteling Museum - opened in 2003 on the renovated and expanded Anton Pieckplein. The museum houses old ornaments, statues and attributes of the park. For example, you can see the first original flying fakir, the speaking map, the first witches who were on top of the entrance gate to the Fairytale Forest and many dozens of molds of heads. There is also an exhibition space where original design sketches can be seen.

A very nice center with old and narrow medieval streets, a wide variety of facades of small buildings. Even after sunset when the streetlights are lit, it becomes almost magical to see, like someting exciting new to be discovered. Always a very nice walk in the old city centre.
There are so many medieval and monumental facades abound. The inner city of the city is rich in historic streets and facades, this also makes it a popular location for recording films.

Many small fishing vessels really add color to the harbour. Many of those in a typical design frequently seen at the Côte d'Azur of the French Riviera. Fishermen still go out to the Mediterranean sea for various catch of the day portions. Overall the harbor looks like time has no great influence, so little had changed because it's almost the same view just like the vintage photos and paintings.

One of the nice things to see are the various art shops. Antique, art, souvenir type of objects, local produced products and lots more. I noticed this huge classic painting reproduction but if we look closer both models are covered with modern tattoos. It's a nice twist to something so classic but I think with a very nice result.
The shop is very nice too, it's called "Vhome - Cabinet de Curiosités" with lots of very special and unique objects in store.
