Haringvlietdam (Est. 1971) - the Haringvliet sluices are a construction that closed off the estuary of the Haringvliet, Netherlands, as part of the Delta Works. Instead of damming 17 sluices were constructed in order to be able to let in salt water to prevent freezing of the rivers Meuse and Rhine and to drain these rivers in case of flood. The sluices have two doors each of which the door on the sea side is the lowest. This has been done to mitigate the effect of the waves on the doors and the construction.
There are plans to open several sluices permanently to restore the estuary function of the Haringvliet and to improve the ecological situation in the river Meuse and Rhine. It will allow the return of brackish water and the main route for migrating fish.

Many small fishing vessels really add color to the harbour. Many of those in a typical design frequently seen at the Côte d'Azur of the French Riviera. Fishermen still go out to the Mediterranean sea for various catch of the day portions. Overall the harbor looks like time has no great influence, so little had changed because it's almost the same view just like the vintage photos and paintings.

These French castles are still dominating the surrounding valleys and see every single move at the Dordogne river. Just a little downstream the Dordogne river there's one of it's greatest rivals, Château de Beynac. Upstream the's Château de Montfort. They, any many more castles like these, all took part in many medieval wars.
These castles must have been very impressive during the ancient middle ages but still are today. The beauty of these French castles, these fortresses and castle grounds of medieval times are huge, most of them restored with taste and respect to it's history. Nowadays our precious monuments of European history. The various views of these castles give a feeling of time travel in modern times, allmost unique proof of human medieval history.

The traditional Christmas tree burning in Hellevoetsluis is always a very nice event. It starts with the Christmas tree hunt for the children to earn lottery tickets. The municipality as an organizer collects about 1000 Christmas trees that are burned as a large fire under the supervision of the fire brigade on the Zuidfront or Land van Paling. It attracts more and more visitors over the years, children win some nice prizes with the raffle tickets and the atmosphere is very nice. It is actually also the warm welcome of the year, especially with the glow of the fire of 1300 degrees Celsius.

The variety of facades with doors, windows, balconies, gardens and more gives every house its own appearance. Together this forms a map of the community that is recognizable to everyone.
In modern architecture with sleek, especially repetitive housings, everyone seems equal. But the community then loses color, the unique character of the residents is then almost invisible. Residents express this indoors, which is rarely visible to everyone. It creates a multitude of closedness in a place where we should be able to live together happily and healthily.

Sprookjesbeelden aan Zee (Fairy Tale Sculptures by the Sea) - a free sculpture terrace on the boulevard of Scheveningen. The sympathetic sculptures by the American sculptor Tom Otterness are part of "Museum Beelden aan Zee" behind it. The more than twenty works of art depict various fairy tales, such as those of Gulliver, Hansel and Gretel, Tin Soldier, Moby Dick, Pinocchio and Hans Brinker.
Most striking is the gigantic Haringeter that has become the icon of the new Scheveningen boulevard. In total, the sculpture terrace comprises three large and twenty smaller bronze works of art with a skin of shiny patina, playfully placed on the boulevard, on islands and banisters. For photographers the glossy sculptures are a popular subject, not easy to isolate from the wandering crowds on this boulevard, but especially to capture these sculptures with some nice contrasting clouds or a sunset in the background.

Sarlat-la-Caneda - One of the most prominent villages in the Dordogne region is Sarlat-la-Canéda. A very popular destination in the Périgord Noir, maybe because modern history has largely passed it by. Sarlat has remained preserved and one of the towns most representative of 14th century France. The old centre consists of impeccably restored stone buildings, with 77 protected monuments it's on France's tentative list for future nomination as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Largely car-free with lots of narrow ancient streets and small stores, an absolute pleasure to walk through and to discover.

The Binnenhof is a complex of buildings in the city centre of The Hague, Netherlands, next to the Hofvijver. Megalosaurus - an extinct genus of large meat-eating theropod dinosaurs of the Middle Jurassic period of Southern England. Although fossils from other areas have been assigned to the genus, the only certain remains of Megalosaurus come from Oxfordshire and date to the late Middle Jurassic.

They are also called Winter squash, an annual fruit representing several species of the Cucurbita. Harvested and eaten in the mature fruit stage when the seeds within have matured fully and the skin has hardened into a tough rind. Kinderspoor (Est. 1954) - an attraction where small children ride a pedal train through a Dutch landscape. It is the landscape of the "Zaanse Schans", An important difference with the earlier attraction is the style: the old course was in the somewhat gray style of Anton Pieck, but now the Zaanse Schans was used as inspiration for the landscape: an area in Zaandam where a large number of historic buildings from the Zaan region were collected in the 1970s. Characteristic for this is the white/green painted wood. An agricultural theme with farm implements scattered around and live sheep grazing the landscape.

The new station is made of steel, glass and white concrete. It includes a monumental arch, 160 metres (520 ft) long and 32 metres (105 ft) high. It has nine tracks and five platforms (three of 450 metres (1,480 ft) and two of 350 metres (1,150 ft)). All the tracks around the station have been modernised to allow high-speed arrival and departure. It includes a restaurant and expo facility. In design, an extra trip for those who love to catch some very nice architecture photos.

The "Landgoed Mildenburg" estate dates back to the sixteenth century. In the course of the 18th century, the Van Leyden van Leeuwen family built a country house and laid out the surrounding landscape still visible today. In even included a lighthouse and In the southwest corner of the site a variant of a starry forest with avenues and wooded areas, a copy of the labyrinth at Versailles according to an image by Charles Perrault from 1679.
The house has since been demolished and the garden has become a wilderness. Nowadays the estate is a monument and a beautiful nature reserve and managed and maintained by the Zuid Hollands Landschap. What remains for visitors is to enjoy the remaining walking routes with majestic lanes through a beech forest with many traces of the former park along the Dunes of Oostvoorne. Inside the Historic Farmhouse, several real dinosaur fossils are on display, including bones, teeth, eggs, etc. In addition it's a somewhat strange sight in the landscape of the park. Scattered throughout the park in the Dinopark section are replicas of various dinosaurs such as Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops, Velociraptor, Brachiosaurus and many others. Visitors can even participate in paleontological excavations.

A few chairs and a table. Worn out but every year still there. It's a common view in many French villages, people are used to take a seat outside in many months of the year.
It's one of those excellent places to sit and enjoy this medieval town. It looks a bit worn out but that's because of frequent use, a French custom. Imagine, just add a nice French coffee, a crispy Croissant and the local newspaper. It's one of those many healthy moments of peace in the outdoors.
Over the years, not much has really changed in this corner, at most the grape stump with fresh green leaves in early spring and to see how the grape bunches mature during the summer and autumn. Who wouldn't want to have their own terrace like this, and the time and opportunity to use it almost the whole year round.

Many small fishing vessels really add color to the harbour. Many of those in a typical design frequently seen at the Côte d'Azur of the French Riviera. Fishermen still go out to the Mediterranean sea for various catch of the day portions. Overall the harbor looks like time has no great influence, so little had changed because it's almost the same view just like the vintage photos and paintings.
