Sleeping Beauty Castle - just like in a fairytale. A very impressive structure to see.

Details
Sleeping Beauty Castle - completed in 1992, for the park's 12 April opening, Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant stands 50 meters (160 ft) tall. The Castle is home to a dragon, which, at 27 meters (89 ft) from head to tail, was the largest Animatronic figure yet built when the park opened in April 1992. The walkthrough attraction consists of a dimly lit cavern with the large dragon sleeping silently. Occasionally it will 'wake up', puffing smoke and growling. The building also contains La Galerie de la Belle au Bois Dormant, a gallery of displays which illustrate the story of Sleeping Beauty in tapestries, stained glass windows and figures. La Boutique du Château, a shop selling Christmas ornaments year-round, and Merlin l'Enchanteur, a shop specialising in handmade glass figures, are located on ground floor.

Golden beams in the ceiling of the Belvés covered market. In 2016 a fire caused damage to the timber beam structure. The beams were repaired by a carpenter, an artisan with skills and knowledge of the Middle Ages. To restore the overall coherence with the new and old weathered beams the new timber frames were covered with gold leaf by an artist, symbolising immortality and all that is sacred, a place that has been and will always be the very heart of this communiity for many generations.

Josephine Baker’s favorite perfume was Arpège by Lanvin, the oldest fashion designer of Parijs. Most of the bathrooms are redecorated using the style of her favorite perfumes. The black bathroom is in the colors and patterns inspired by the Arpège perfume bottle and packaging, an Art Deco fantasy. It's dominated by sleek black, gold and green colors. The walls are black and gold mosaic, interspersed with glass tile. A sink and toilet are green porcelain, and the ceiling is covered in gold leaf. The light blue sinks, tub, and toilet might have been inspired by the color of the puff included with Arpège dusting powder.
In the 1950s, she was dressed by the fashion designer Christian Dior, and her favorite perfumes were “Miss Dior” and “Diorama.” The pink Portuguese marble bathroom mimics these bottles.
Other extravagant alterations how Baker personalized her new home at Château des Milandes are a J-shaped swimming pool, an experimental farm and a simulated African village with conical straw huts. The estate was also open as a tourist attraction, complete with a nightclub and a hotel for visitors. In total she hired more then 120 supporting staff members.
In the grand salon, its walls covered in red velvet, are 16 costumes, as well as the extravagant feather headdresses Baker wore onstage early in her career and a black outfit she wore at a Carnegie Hall performance in 1973. Her famous banana belt is in a glass case in the library. In addition and unique, a collection of nude photos on display that were not public in her lifetime.
During Josephine Bakers years in Paris she was a muse to and personal friend of Christian Dior (Est.1946) and one of his best customers. By spending $250,000 she invested heavily in a haute couture wardrobe of statuesque, richly embellished gowns and elegantly tailored suits, creating an image that she felt reflected her rightful standing as a grand dame of the culture. She also bought from other elite designers like Madeleine Vionnet and Pierre Balmain.

Most of it has been preserved for present-day visitors to admire, Being the best paid entertainer in Europe it was easy for Josephine Bakers to live in a extravagant style.

This is a portrait of Henry of Orléans (1822-1897), Duke of Aumale was the fifth son of King Louis Philippe I of France and Queen Marie Amélie of Bourbon-Sicily. After the death of Louis VI of Bourbon-Condé in 1830, Henry was the sole heir to inherit his fortune, including the castle grounds of Chantilly. On November 25, 1844, he married his cousin Carolina Augusta of Bourbon-Sicily and the couple took up residence in the castle of Chantilly.
When his father was driven from power in 1848, he moved to England with his family. The Duke of Aumale was one of the greatest art and book collectors of his time. During his forced stay in England, which lasted 23 years, he started buying up French art treasures that had been scattered abroad. Special are the 366 portrait sketches by Jean and François Clouet and the 95 painted portraits attributed to the Clouets or their circle from the 16th century. These came from the collection of Catherine de' Medici and Hendrik was able to purchase them in England. But he also bought paintings by Italian masters (Piero di Cosimo, Raphael, Fra Angelico) and sketches and etchings by Dürer. He had a collection of more than 800 paintings.
He was also an avid collector of valuable books. A masterpiece in his collection was the manuscript Les Très Riches Heures du duc de Berry (ca. 1410), which he purchased in Italy in 1856.
As a widower without children, he bequeathed the Château de Chantilly and its collection to the Institut de France on the condition that they would be opened to the public after his death, that the works would not be loaned out and that the arrangement of the works would remain unchanged.
