Limeuil

The village of Limeuil, located at the confluence of the Dordogne and Vézère rivers historically both commercially and strategically on the highways of trade. This region was primarily a wine-producing area for subsequent delivery downstream to Bordeaux, on large, flat-bottomed "gabarres". Nowadays a very nice historical village and on the list of the "Les Plus Beaux Villages de France", the most beautiful villages of France.

After driving **211 kilometers** on one of France's busiest motorways, the **Autoroute du Nord A1** from Lille to Paris, traffic really starts to pick up. You'll also have to navigate past Charles de Gaulle Airport. In fact, some sections of the road are directly beneath the airport's runways, so you might even see a massive plane taxiing right over your head!

---

Here's a tip: the driver should definitely keep their eyes on the road, but passengers can enjoy the thrilling sight of the planes.

Haar or sea fret along the dunes. Haar is typically formed over the sea and is blown to the land by the wind. This commonly occurs when warmer moist air moves over the relatively cooler North Sea causing the moisture in the air to condense, forming haar.

About "Vaux-le-Vicomte at the Movies" event: the house and its grounds were used as the Californian home of the main villain Hugo Drax (played by Michael Lonsdale) in the 1979 James Bond film Moonraker.

It can also be seen in the background in the 1998 film "The Man in the Iron Mask". In addition, the château appeared in several episodes of "The Revolution". Also "Australia's Next Top Model" had a fashion shoot at the chateau and season 4 of HBOs "The Sopranos". More recently it has featured as the "Palace of Versailles" for BBC/Canal+ production of the TV drama series "Versailles".

The place is a major setting of Alexandre Dumas's novel "The Vicomte of Bragelonne: Ten Years Later".

One of the most expensive weddings was held at the palace in 2004. Vanisha Mittal, daughter of British-Indian steel industrialist billionaire Lakshmi Mittal, held her wedding to Amit Bhatia, a British-Indian economist and businessman, at the château following their engagement ceremony at the Palace of Versailles. Kylie Minogue was paid $330,000 to sing at the wedding and the ceremony was followed by fireworks launched from the Eiffel Tower.

Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte (Est.1658) - a baroque French château. Built between 1658 to 1661 for Nicolas Fouquet, Marquis de Belle Île, Viscount of Melun and Vaux, the superintendent of finances of Louis XIV, the château was an influential work of architecture in mid-17th-century Europe. At Vaux-le-Vicomte, the architect Louis Le Vau, the landscape architect André le Nôtre, and the painter-decorator Charles Le Brun worked together on this large-scale projec. This marked the beginning of the "Louis XIV style" combining architecture, interior design and landscape design.

Catacombes de Paris - Tour

The Catacombs of Paris is the largest collection of underground cemeteries in the world, containing the bones of approximately six million Parisians in underground burial chambers and galleries.

Underground in Paris is a nearly 300 km long network of quarry tunnels used for the building blocks of many Parisian buildings and monuments such as Notre Dame. Because the Parisian cemeteries were overcrowded and very unclean, it was decided to close the cemeteries and move the bones to the underground passages.

It would take two years to empty the majority of Paris's cemeteries. Beginning from an opening ceremony on 7 April 1785 with nightly processions of black cloth-covered wagons carrying the millions of Parisian dead. The property itself was transformed into a sort of museum for all the headstones, sculptures and other artifacts recuperated from the former cemetery. The human remains were dumped into empty chambers and covered with a neatly stacked wall of skulls and bones. Plaques indicate which cemetery the bones come from. Until well into the 19th century, the Catacombs of Paris remained in use for the storage of bones.

Today, about half a million visit a 1.7 km section of the tunnels. It is a former quarry from the 15th century containing the graves of up to the 18th century. After a descent of 25 meters of stairs, a walk takes the visitor past one of the catacombs where the stacked bones and skulls lie, arranged by cemetery where the bones come from and the year they were deposited in the catacombs or by events in the Parisian history.

The ride gave rise to the song "Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me)" written by George Bruns and Xavier Atencio. The song became the basis for the Pirates of the Caribbean film series, which debuted in 2003. Since 2006, Disney has incorporated characters from the film series into the various versions of the rides.

Sleeping Beauty Castle - completed in 1992, for the park's 12 April opening, Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant stands 50 meters (160 ft) tall. The Castle is home to a dragon, which, at 27 meters (89 ft) from head to tail, was the largest Animatronic figure yet built when the park opened in April 1992. The walkthrough attraction consists of a dimly lit cavern with the large dragon sleeping silently. Occasionally it will 'wake up', puffing smoke and growling. The building also contains La Galerie de la Belle au Bois Dormant, a gallery of displays which illustrate the story of Sleeping Beauty in tapestries, stained glass windows and figures. La Boutique du Château, a shop selling Christmas ornaments year-round, and Merlin l'Enchanteur, a shop specialising in handmade glass figures, are located on ground floor.

Fortifications - during the time of the United Provinces Hellevoetsluis was the naval port of the Admiralty of de Maze (Rotterdam) and could accommodate an entire fleet within a special land-enclosed fortress with harbour and dockyard facilities, accessible through a canal. Thanks to its strategic situation the town grew from the beginning of the 17th century to be the homeport for the Dutch war fleet. In later years the port was fortified more and more and Hellevoetsluis therefore became a unique combination of fortified town and naval port.

The Admirals Maarten Tromp, Michiel de Ruyter and Piet Heyn had their home base here and in 1688 during the Glorious Revolution William III of Orange's invasion fleet departed from the port.

Ancient Greek Pithoi Mannerists designs.

.

Ancient Greek pottery designs on a huge ancient Greek vase, it has the shape of a Pithoi intended for huge amounts of storage. The designs are completely appropriate in the humor that we see more in the Asterix comic books. Clear attention has been paid to the design, which has been artfully rendered in a funny form. These drawings are really great fun.

The designs on the Greek Pithoi shaped vases are called Mannerists (Greek vase painting), often depict scenes from well known Greek stories about their gods and goddesses, heroes, battles and even athletes. Many also included animals like horses, sea creatures like dolphins, or even mythological monsters.

Located between Sarlat and Domme, two of the most beautiful villages in the region, Vitrac mainly consists of a castle surrounded by some very nice buildings. recently restored to the delight of visitors and its inhabitants.

Chateau de Montfort was often in conflicts especially during the Hundred Years War; with owners like Bernard Casnac, a bloodthirsty leader during the Albigensian Crusade, Simon de Montfort and Bernard Casnac. History tells a long story of destruction and reconstruction, weddings and betrayals. Today the castle is a privat property and unfortunately not open for visitors
