This is in Greenwood County, Kansas. Even though it's a simple composition, there was something compelling about the way the black horse was mirroring the white one. Almost like a shadow. Even though the scene is peaceful, I was stopped a little ways down the road by a man wanting to know what I was up to. Apps used were Snapseed, Handy Photo and Image Blender.
I hope we're gonna get some snow!! This scene is outside my front door. We've had spurts of rain here and there!!! I took this pic just a few minutes ago and it says yesterday the 9th! LOL :) Have a nice day everyone! :)
The conditions were amazing for this there was flat light and heavy fog as far as you could see in the distance and the waves were crashing in. You could see the wind battered trees and the erosion to the tree line.
The combination of ground fog and campfire smoke provided the perfect canvas for light rays in Yosemite Valley on this morning.
The Yosemite Conservancy describes the history behind the elm tree on the right:
"This famous tree in Cook’s Meadow is the last of a group of elms planted by James Mason Hutchings in the mid-1800s. While most elms and other non-native tree species have been removed from the area, this individual remains. The now historic tree, whose leafy contour calls to mind the shape of Half Dome, is a true icon of the Valley floor and a favorite subject among photographers."
Another day and the weather continued to be interesting and varied. Unusual mid level cloud dominated the sky and helped to create some very striking atmosphere over the coastline so I decided to yet again head down to the Bow to capture the scene. I love how, no matter how many times I photograph this rock, no one image I have of it is the same. I guess that's part of the joy of living on the coastline. This is Bow Fiddle Rock near Portknockie on Scotland's Moray Firth.
We have been having an atmospheric river from the ocean dumping inches of rain to our area. I would expect those vineyards at the lower elevation would be flooded. This photo was taken a couple months back when we experienced the first atmospheric river in early Fall.

We work hard on our photo workshops to make the best use of the weather and conditions. We keep itineraries flexible and adapt quickly as things change. With a little smoke blowing in from the north, we hoped to get good atmospheric conditions in the Grand Canyon. Our bet paid off at sunrise as the canyon filled with a warm glow.
I took this as a vertical pano and after the shoot we all sat down and I walked through my Lightroom edits on this shot. Many of our clients find the post-processing instruction to be some of the most valuable parts of a workshop.
Is it the effect of cataract and old glasses... or the bokeh capacity from my Pentacon auto 2.8/29mm?

It was interesting to see the affects of the sunlight on the mist and how it adds a real sense of depth and distance. This shot focuses on the granite stacks in the foreground as the sun illuminates the mist directly behind. In contrast, the dense mist in the shady lowlands appears cooler and detail is lost, creating shapes and silhouettes. It really was fascinating photography in these atmospheric conditions. Thanks for looking. Mk

Simply amazing what patterns can be created by the flow of the winds and a bit of water vapor entrained in the atmosphere. Just an evening in the field at El. Franco Lee Park. The patterns in the clouds were quite unique and even though the clouds were heave on the horizon, the sky lit up beautifully as the sun settled for the evening. I like the sort of popcorn effect on the clouds.
Have been busy the past couple of days and have not had time to comment but wanted to let everyone know that Georgia and I are doing fine. I’ll be back this evening for comments. Wishing everyone all the best in these troubling times. All of your best wishes and prayers go out to everyone during these troubling times. Take care.

Very early in the morning at the Venice Carnival...you really did need to get there early, or the place was crowded
This looks more sinister than it actually was. It was a calm early morning and these fascinating clouds lasted only about 15 minutes. Photographed from Thompson Prairie in Upper Hixon Forest, La Crosse County, Wisconsin.
St John's Court is a very atmospheric little lane leading to the historic St John's Church in the Wiltshire market town of Devizes (pop. 16,000).
On the left, Nos. 1-3 have an 18th Century frontage, but behind it the buildings may be as old as the late 16th Century; on the right, No. 4 is said to be even older, a Medieval Hall, although the official listing dates it to the end of the 18th Century. Overlooking them is St John's itself.
St John's dates from 1130 when it was constructed as a chapel to the recently completed castle. It is rumoured that the altar relic at its foundation was a feather from the wing of the Angel Gabriel. The feather has yet to be discovered!
Simon Jenkins points out the strong contrast between the - unexceptional - English Perpendicular style of the nave and the decidedly French Norman style of the east end of the church. The north and south chapels that flank the Norman chancel make up a third focus of interest.
A street photo taken from the worst of Wednesday night's storm, which was the first of two atmospheric rivers to hit the San Francisco Bay Area within a week.
