As the name suggests, the Little Wood Satyr, Megisto cymela, is typically found in woodland settings. The adults seldom use nectar as a food source, so they are typically seen on branches or leaves where they feed on sap or aphid honeydew.

As the name for this fine dining restaurant suggests, the building was once a schoolhouse. In fact it was the original home of the Launceston Church Grammar School established in 1846. The Quill & Cane is now part of the large Colonial Hotel complex (formerly the Colonial Motor Inn). This attractive building was completed in 1847.
I might as well make the best of winter while we wait for spring. The warm week back in February created a nice little creek at Bluffer's Park in Scarborough. The sunset was quite strong and not much cloud cover was in the sky. I had the trees in the distance and the peak of the Bluffs to help get the shot I wanted. I didn't check the weather to plan the setting but I was in the neighbourhood so I decided to come here for a walk.
As the morning arrived....a few huts....a lean stream....the barbed wire....the mountains half-hidden....all welcomed a new beginning....of a day....of life...

Rabelera holostea, known as greater stitchwort, greater starwort, and addersmeat, is a perennial herbaceous flowering plant in the family Caryophyllaceae. It was formerly placed in the genus Stellaria, as Stellaria holostea, but was transferred to the genus Rabelera in 2019 based on phylogenetic analyses

As requested by one of my long time Flickr contacts here’s a photo of a rather unusual and quite rare old motor car. Thanks for the suggestion Andrew.
The German car manufacturer Borgward had a stable of different marques that it produced, one being Lloyd. Following the war and during a period of austerity and lack of resources car manufacturers had to consider alternative build techniques. This is most evident in this model. The Lloyd LP 300 had a timber and plywood frame and an outer skin of synthetic leather (yes you read that correct). Its name came from its engine, as it used a 293cc side valve design. This may all sound very basic but it was aimed as a competitor for the VW Beetle. It undercut the Beetle a little and was more economical but less sophisticated and roomy. In the end its two production run came to an end in 1952 after 18,097 were built. The name Lloyd and its parent company continued to build cars until the company folded in 1963.

As I was driving out of Bristol I noticed a bank of fog rolling down the hill in front of me. I immediately turned around, grabbed my camera from home and set off into Clifton. I was in time to get ahead of it and so, from Observatory Hill, I was able to watch it snake up the Avon Gorge, building in density as it went and spilling over onto the top of the Downs. A truly amazing sight. Here's one as it began to hit the CliftonSuspension Bridge.
As our Delta flight departed Portland International Airport at sunrise in mid November, Mt St Helens appeared outside our port window.
The blue water is the Columbia River inside the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.

As a photographer, a common theme I like to find is minimal geometry and patterns in nature or man-made objects.
This photo represents geometrical patterns and shapes created by the architecture and reflection of the Prudential Plaza in Jacksonville, FL. I walk past this building so many times, but one day managed to stand underneath it, and discovered this magic.
The architect is KBJ Architects from Jacksonville, FL, a firm responsible for shaping the incoming Jacksonville skyline we have today.

As the sun breaks though the clouds, I hope and pray that this present darkness of uncertainty and fear will be dispelled by the divine light that shines from Heaven into all our hearts and lives.
As many of you did, I took Wednesday's sunset as a sign of hope after an exhilarating day of transitions.
As the sky blushes with the colors of sunset, a lone deer leaps effortlessly across the field, embodying the beauty and freedom of the wild. In this photograph, the delicate balance between light and movement captures a rare harmony found in nature. Moments like these are fleeting, yet they remind us of the untamed spirit that resides in every living creature, moving gracefully through its world without constraint.
This morning, as the fog has lifted and was blown away the sun woke up my garden. The dew and the cool air made me take some pics - like this pink aster.

As my shutter of my D300 is going to die I have often very overexposed frames in a burst. This time I thought make an advantage of a disadvantage and make a high key version of a hoovering Kestrel. Hope you like this ghost like bird (or angel?)
As I walked back from the creek the squirrel was just sitting there in the tree off in lala land. I am on the sidewalk and he is in the tree down by our front deck where I have the feeding platform.

Eyelash Viper
Bothriechis schlegelii, known commonly as the Eyelash Viper, is a species of venomous pit viper in the family Viperidae. The species is native to Central and South America. Small and arboreal, this species is characterized by a wide array of color variations, as well as the superciliary scales above the eyes. It is the most common of the green palm-pit vipers (genus Bothriechis) and is often present in zoological exhibits. The specific name schlegelii honors Hermann Schlegel, who was a German ornithologist and herpetologist.
The Eyelash Viper is a relatively small species of pit viper, with adults ranging from 22–32 inches long, and females being longer and more variable in size than males, which can grow to 27 inches long. It has a wide, triangular-shaped head, and eyes with vertical pupils. Like all pit vipers, it is solenoglyphous, having large, hypodermic needle-like fangs in the front of the upper jaw that fold back when not in use, and has heat sensitive organs, or pits, located on either side of the head between the eye and nostril.

When I visited the temple there many visitors but this group of students really stood out as they were all in traditional dress, lovely sight.
As the sun began to set, I looked upstream from the waves for a few minutes. No surprise that occupants are being warned of flooding. My favourite part is the Surfer [middle right] who was weighing up how to ride these unusual waves, out of view of the Coastguard, who were there in force! It's always a lovely surprise to feature in Explore - thank you all for your visits, kind comments and favourites, all are very much appreciated!
As you drive into the monument this is one of the first vistas you see. The tall rock structure in the right foreground is known as the Flagpole. On Memorial day climbers go to the top and raise an American flag.
As we were on top of Kitzbuhel, a massive storm was rolling in and got us thinking, yeah, we better head down before it takes the fun out of funicular.
As we know from quantum physics, reality is not only particle but also wave. To isolate out a particle is to distort reality. To stop a musical performance to isolate the notes played in a given moment is to cause the sonata to cease to be music. Unexpected chases are always some of best and coolest experiences. The K&O is by far one of the coolest watco operations I've shot and to ones amazement its pretty much just as the Mopac left it.

The Frigorífico Anglo del Uruguay was a meatpacking plant located at Fray Bentos, Uruguay, on the Uruguay River bank.
In 1924, the Vestey group purchases the old installations of Liebig Extract of Meat Company and the production goes on under a new name.
During its peak period, El Anglo had 5,000 workers whose ranks included English, Belgians, Russians, Spanish and Italians. It finally closed in 1979 after Europe and the United States had cut back their purchases from Latin America. Small brick houses with thick walls running along the river's edge in Fray Bentos form the "Barrio Anglo," a city-within-a-city where meatpacking workers lived that featured a hospital, a school, a social club and a football squad.[1]
