"Free As A Bird"

Free as a bird

It's the next best thing to be

Free as a bird

Home, home and dry

Like a homing bird I'll fly

As a bird on wings

Whatever happened to

The life that we once knew?

Can we really live without each other?

Where did we lose the touch

That seemed to mean so much?

It always made me feel so...

Free as a bird

Like the next best thing to be

Free as a bird

Home, home and dry

Like a homing bird I'll fly

As a bird on wings

Whatever happened to

The life that we once knew?

Always made me feel so free

Ah...

Ah...

Ah...

Free as a bird

It's the next best thing to be

Free as a bird

Free as a bird

Free as a bird

Oooooo

Free...

Minimalist photography

is a form of photography that is distinguished by extreme, austere simplicity. It emphasizes spareness and focuses solely on the smallest number of objects in the composition process. Minimalist photographers usually focus solely on one particular subject, rather than an abundance of color, patterns and information. ( wikipedia )

I love learning new stuff in photography, and some techniques requires allot of time to learn and understand..... witch I have a hard time to do . This is minimal as can be ( I think)

As it used to look before it collapsed in March 2017, it was my favourite place in the world to take photos and I still miss it.

Dwejra, Gozo, Malta

As a car enthusiast I do like it when I see a shiny bodywork on a classic car. That means, well kept, well maintained and it usually shows that the owner actually likes what he's doing. However, some times, the old timers need to be seen with the touch of time on them. I found this old truck parked on the yard of a winery at the Finger Lakes in NY. It quickly drew my attention, sitting there like an old rusty fella having proudly served its cause by hauling loads of grapes and crates of good wines.

"Port Moody has one of the few remaining large mudflats in Burrard Inlet. It is an environmentally sensitive area that is home to many nesting shoreline species such as purple martins, osprey, and great blue heron. The mudflats are home to a biodiverse community of fish, shellfish, and other significant tidal species that are sensitive to disturbance. The city’s trail system, including wooden boardwalks that wrap the head of the inlet, is designed so visitors can experience and enjoy the wildlife that live there, while staying off the mudflats. Residents and visitors can stay out of danger, and ensure this special place remains for future generations, by remaining on the designated trails and keeping dogs on a leash."

This is my leather ‘belt for life’. Pretty sure I bought it from either Rhodes or Crete around 30 years ago and I’ve barely worn another since. At macro level it looks like it’s ready for the bin but as the title suggests it’s got a few more years in it yet!

As a public service, the weather tonight is " not fit for man nor beast"

Out in it

City street:

a slick mash

of ice and sleet

falling, cars

geared down,

store canopies

sagging and

a wind that

seems phlegmatic

suffers through

the night, roofs

glazed, the cold

numbing to those

out in it, man and

dog, patrol officer,

an insomniac who

seeks the silence

of God but hears

a distant siren

wailing her name;

what falls might

be the dust of stars,

chips of light,

crystals swirling

piecemeal

in a brain-

storm I might

only have

imagined

Thank you for your comments!

We awoke to a little snow last Friday. I made a quick visit to some of the local spots before work and I was rewarded with a few nice images. I arrived at the Sheebeen at 8.02am and the Guinness truck was just pulling out after another delivery of the creamy stuff :-) I didn't get time to compose this as I literrally hopped out of the car and started snapping. Needless to say all thats left are the photos as the heavy rain over he weekend washed the little snow away.

Cache la Poudre River

The river's name means "Hiding Place of Powder." According to legend, French fur trappers in the 1820's were caught by a tremendous snowstorm. To lighten their load, they buried large amounts of gunpowder (poudre) in a hiding place (cache) near the mouth of the river along the banks of the river. The river is affectionately known as "the Poudre" by local residents and long-time visitors to the area.

As a German, I'm not used to such memorials for the victorious soldiers of wars past. Obviously, the Brits have another history.

No FAV without comment

I loved to walk on along the boardwalk on St Marks basin to watch the light change in the dawn of morning. It was so calm and romantic. The gondolas were always bobbing in the water, faithfully waiting for the day to break and for people to hop on board.

Tune

Holdin' me back

Gravity's holdin' me back

I want you to hold out the palm of your hand

Why don't we leave it at that?

Nothin' to say

When everything gets in the way

Seems you cannot be replaced

And I'm the one who will stay, oh

In this world, it's just us

You know it's not the same as it was

In this world, it's just us

You know it's not the same as it was

As it was, as it was

You know it's not the same

Also known as the Golden Browed Bulbul, this is an endemic bird of South India and Sri Lanka. The bird is bright yellow and easy to identify in the bush and canopy where they are sighted. Apparently, this subspecies of the bird we shot in the Malabar region / Western Coast is a bit paler than the subspecies on the other coast - though I haven't seen it yet.

The birds are of the same size as other bulbuls - maybe 20 cms - and are found in small groups. We sighted several around fruiting trees such as wild berries, Figs and they were quite loud during the time. The calls were a tad easy to remember and just like other bulbuls they were noisy. This is the start of their breeding season and hence I think they were out more than usual.

Many thanks in advance for your views, feedback and faves.

As seen on a foggy walk!

06-December-2022

As typical on anticyclonic winter days, the valleys and plains of neighboring Carinthia alpine region are covered by dense low clouds (Stratus) accumulated by a weak north-east current.

Due to the light flow these stratus clouds enter the valleys arranged from N/E towards S/W and press on the mountain passes; these masses are cold and humid, therefore "heavy", as if representing a vast mass of water, they cannot climb steep mountain slopes, while they seek an easy transfer through the lower areas of a mountain range or at the junction between 2 different ranges.

For this reason the Alpine passes and saddles, where the air masses from different areas cross and converge, are decidedly interesting from a meteorological and microlimatic point of view.

Among other things, the cloudy/foggy mass has waves, always referring to the water which well represents the movements of dense and heavy air, which at times cover the area, leaving the ice crystals that make up these clouds on all surfaces, for then withdraw and let the phenomenon be appreciated.

This was a drive by shooting. We were driving back from Whistler, and there are such amazing views along the way, but hardly any viewpoints. And the best views are ones where you can't stop. I've tried shooting as a moving passenger many times, and most often, the images are just a blur. This one wasn't as blurry, so I'll take it....

50:52 - Sunset

As long as we are persistence in our pursuit of our deepest destiny, we will continue to grow. We cannot choose the day or time when we will fully bloom. It happens in its own time.

As I said before no more belly flapping for me,

with the D750 having the flip screen all I do is lay the camera down and focus.

I rarely take photos of our Crocuses, we have them in different areas.
