Shot this one when we were on our way for dinner in Cassone, a small Collage south of Malcesine. This is one of my favourite spots at the Lake, as it is not so crosses as other places around the lake. It also has some quite recent restaurants as well and if you like, you can have lunch or dinner with a great view of the lake.

I drive by this river each morning. No matter the season, its beauty beckons me to stop and capture that day’s memory. You may recognize this river in one of my other images at a different time of the year.
The beautiful texture I used on this image is by Evelyn Flint entitled “Old Brown Paper”.

As you drive through small towns, you might see a neglected, abandoned old home like this one. Maybe you wonder who once lived there and what became of them. How many children played in the yard and did they return to visit “the folks”? Is there a favorite dog buried under the tree? Then you get back on the highway and the old place is forgotten. Again.
As you can see, this multi-tenant birdhouse appears to need a bit of renovation work. I can understand how the wood could deteriorate due to age, but I am wondering how the metal railings could have gotten bent this way. The house is mounted at the top of a pole in a local park and is probably 12-15 feet off the ground.

As the weather turns warmer, the troop decided to do a seafood grill out on the water. Perhaps not surprising, I decided to tease Adi with my freshly caught lobsters. Andie, on the other hand, was well impressed by Pengu's wet slippery thing in his hands.
Pengy decided here to be the chef o'day - watching over the paella on the grill.

Red roses for you, who are mother, friend, wife, daughter, sister... You who are a woman and know how to show your strength without losing your delicacy.
May your day and your life be very special and covered in blessings.
As most of my Flickr contacts are male, I want to extend these wishes to the women around them, who make easier their existence on this troubled planet.
Happy International Woman's Day!
Yeah, and a Happy Fucking Valentine's Day to you, too.
I want you to hold out the palm of your hand
Why don't we leave it at that?
I could spend my whole life in this valley and still would never capture all the beauty. From Tunnel View as a winter storm releases its grip EL Cap comes into view #seetheworld #getoffthecouch

It has always been my wish to photograph the secretive Sora head-on showing its laterally compressed body, which allows it to slip and weave easily through dense vegetation. However, seeing the Sora in the open is notoriously difficult.
I was justifiably excited when I spotted this Sora walking cautiously along the path. And when it turned and looked straight into the lens for a brief instant, the angle, light and position were just right, as seen in this picture. Luck!
I am glad that I was ready and took advantage of that opportunity.

As I began the descent from Michael's Mount (Michaelsberg), just a short distance from my previous posting, this was the view across the valley to the next hill beyond. The four spires in the background are part of the Bamberg Cathedral up on Cathedral Hill (Domberg) above the city center in the Regnitz River valley. The buildings here are mostly ecclesiastical. There is a fairly steep climb down from here, part of it on winding stone stairs. [DSC01561_lr_2000]

As it used to look before it collapsed in March 2017, it was my favourite place in the world to take photos and I still miss it.

"Free As A Bird"
Free as a bird
It's the next best thing to be
Free as a bird
Home, home and dry
Like a homing bird I'll fly
As a bird on wings
Whatever happened to
The life that we once knew?
Can we really live without each other?
Where did we lose the touch
That seemed to mean so much?
It always made me feel so...
Free as a bird
Like the next best thing to be
Free as a bird
Home, home and dry
Like a homing bird I'll fly
As a bird on wings
Whatever happened to
The life that we once knew?
Always made me feel so free
Ah...
Ah...
Ah...
Free as a bird
It's the next best thing to be
Free as a bird
Free as a bird
Free as a bird
Oooooo
Free...
[Turn out nice again, mother.]
And, as they say, here is the rest of the story. Again, I don't believe it's a real train station. But, it looks pretty good.
Yesterday, we had a major catastrophe in my little town. A truck ran off the road and knocked out an electrical pole around 10am. The whole town was without Internet, phones and TV until after 10pm. It was really sad because everyone here depends on the tourist coming here and spending money on the weekends. Sadly, no one carries cash. And since the ATM machine couldn't work either, no one could sell anything. Also, there was a fund raiser for my favorite restaurant that burned down. No one could access there money so they didn't raise as much as they had hoped. I went, and enjoyed listening to the music. I had to drive for a ways until I found a place where my phone would work and I could pay on line for my ticket. Crazy world we live in

As Neowise started to head for the horizon at about midnight, The Big Dipper took over in the dark sky above. This was taken with the Pitstone Windmill in Buckinghamshire, England in the foreground. The mill is owned by The National Trust and dates back to the 17th century. This gem in the Chiltern countryside is the oldest dated windmill in Britain.
As a national monument and as the heart of the protected village view, the Oude Kerk is part of Borne's identity. This Stephen of the Old Church of Borne was founded about the year 1000 by the Dominican monks of the monastery in Ruinen. In a deed of 1206, the church in Burgundy of Borne is mentioned for the first time. This document records a major transaction between the bishop of Utrecht and the monastery, whereby the church in Borne becomes the property of the bishop.
