As the title states, this is Rock Creek about 2 miles east of North Lake in the Eastern Sierras. This is west of Bishop,Ca. About 9,000 in the Eastern Sierras.
Was sitting on the rail at a recent cattle sale when an old friend tapped me on the shoulder got to talking and remembered this old house in his paddock and of course JF had photographed it from road with a long lens.....and he had viewed the results and gave me the go ahead to walk about in the night which I did tonight.

The light pollution from the traffic shining across the slight rise was quite significant so this is actually a composite shot took the sky down a little, this was the sky above the house but a smidgeon higher, to negate some of the pollution of the horizon which I will post one as shot, as was, in the future as I find appealing in its own way. This shot of the house is lit from the headlights of cars about a kilometre away with their high beam shining across to this, the next hill.

As it has no engine, the glider needs help from a tug plane to take off. The take-off of the set connected by a cable is one of the most graceful spectacles in aviation.
The glider is very light. The model we glide, the Grob G 103 Twin Astir is a glass-reinforced plastic two-seat sailplane, made in Germany, weighs just 400 kg (empty). Therefore, when being towed by a motorized aircraft, the device takes off in little space, even before the tug plane.

As we took the ferry back from the zoo to Circular Quay we got a good look at Diamond Princess, which was anchored in Sydney Harbour.

as a satellite straight lines itself under the milky way, it reminds me so much of drawing on a old Etch -A- Sketch. With precise turning of the left and right knobs, one could create a perfect diagonal line, much like this satellite in orbit. I'm not saying that satellites are controlled by some dude with his hands on the knobs of this red framed device, but if one day I look up and see satellites zig-zagging in rapid succession...well maybe...just saying.

As promised, more of the ring-necked ducklings.
The 2-duckling version is my favorite, despite having the fewest ducklings in the capture, because they are not both going in the same direction. They finally became somewhat comfortable with my presence that they were not looking for an immediate escape route.
As I look out on the frozen lake with winds blowing the snow, I know that in only about nine weeks Spring will once again be here......:)

This was my first /real/ composite photo. I'd dabbled with compositing in a few images here and there but this was where I really tried to make use of the idea to create a larger story. I'm hyper critical of it, but I don't think - at this time - I can do any better. Yet. :D

Just back from a few days visiting family in Birmingham, England. The whole of the city centre in Birmingham has been dug up in order for tram lines to be laid, so it was nice to escape from all the noise and chaos and take a walk along the canal. Image taken on my phone so a bit grainy!!
