Apples are not in my top ten favorite fruits, but they are quite popular. One thing I do every now and then is slice a fresh apple and dip it in peanut butter for a satisfying and protein-rich snack. This tree was growing in a small garden next to the sidewalk in a downtown neighborhood.
More about apples from Wikipedia:
We live in apple country and the season has been a good one this year. Some of the apples are the biggest they have ever been. The ones on this tree have not been bagged for sale because the farmers can only fit 3-4 in a 5lb bag instead of the usual 6-8! Mind you, one of these apples could easily be shared between two people. This particular variety is very vibrant. Our favourite is the Honey Crisp.

Oooops, but wait.... I will want to paint them first :-))
The leaf was what initially caught my eye, and while contemplating the leaf, I picked up an apple out of the refrigerator -- to eat, not photograph -- and, well, here's what it all lead to. Processed in Topaz Studio for Sliders Sunday.
This is the front of the new Apple Store to open on Saturday in Fresno California. It is located the the Fashion Fair Mall. I will be there waiting with my 14 yr old son to be among the first into the store.
I think this a crab apple tree... right along the auto tour route in the Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge. for the last couple years we have enjoyed watching deer and racoons feeding on the fruit in the summer months

What is Photo-art?
When I tag an image as being "Photo-art", I am making it known that I have made one or more artistic modifications and/or enhancements to the original photograph in order to produce an end result that is a stylized combination of the photo and some digital art techniques. For example, in the above image I added the light rays and the little circles to suggest specular highlights. My desire to create more Photo-art these days is part of what I shared back in April 2017 regarding my future photography objectives now that I have given up wildlife photography for health reasons: www.flickr.com/photos/rudypohl/33958557840/in/dateposted/
I have been a hobby landscape painter for many years and creating Photo-art is the closest thing to landscaping painting I can do with my camera and my computer. I enjoy it a lot and have been doing it for over 25 years. I share this information with you because I don't want anyone to think that I am a far better photographer than I really am, or to drive yourself crazy trying to reproduce with only your camera and lenses some of the lighting effects that you see in some of my images.
I created this concept while at uni the brief was to create an future device. this was part of the presentation

apple crumble recipe by nigel slater www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2004/oct/17/foodanddrink...
Damson Almond Crumble serves 6
i swapped the damsons for bramley apples and didn't precook
650-700g plums or damsons
4 tbsp caster sugar or more to taste
a thin slice of butter
For the crumble:
150g plain flour
100g butter
50g ground almonds
75g caster or light brown sugar
Put the damsons in a shallow pan with the sugar and the butter and a tablespoon or two of water. Cook over a moderate heat until the juices start to flow from the damsons, probably about 5 minutes, depending on the ripeness of your fruit. Tip the fruit and the juice into a deep pie dish.
Rub the butter, which should ideally be cold from the fridge, into the flour with your fingertips. When the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs, stir in the almonds and sugar. Sprinkle a tablespoon of water over the mixture and stir lightly with a fork. Some of the crumbs should stick together in small lumps - this gives a more interesting crumble.
Scatter the crumble over the fruit, then bake in a preheated oven at 200C/gas mark 6 for about 35 minutes. The crumble is done when the crumbs are pale gold and some juice has, hopefully, soaked through the crust. Serve with thick golden cream www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2004/oct/17/foodanddrink...

ps i'm not recommending any of these cookery adventures. they suit my personal taste. photographing to encourage myself to eat more healthily ...
i've created a new group www.flickr.com/groups/cooking_is_my_hobby/ to gather ideas and encourage myself to continue with healthy eating by learning from others if you're interested in cooking, sometimes or a lot, or enjoy the cooking of others, you're always welcome ...
Not exactly a bumper crop this year and of course they're not cider apples, but as a Scotsman I'm not all that fussed about the variety. I imagine that many West Country scrumpy aficionados (to whom I am generally sympathetic) would be perturbed, but when you're this far north, eating varieties probably taste a bit like cider apples anyway. The fermentation seems to have gone fine so far sure enough.

Old Hag: All alone, my pet?
Snow White: Why yes, yes I am, but...
Old Hag: The, the little men are not here?
Snow White: No, they're not.
Old Hag: Uh. Mmmm. (smelling) Makin' pies?
Snow White: Yes, gooseberry pie.
Old Hag: It's apple pies that make the men folks' mouths water. Pies made from apples like these (holding out the red apple)
Snow White: Oh, they do look delicious.
Old Hag: Yes. But wait till you taste one, dearie. (laughter) Like to try one, hmm? Go on. Go on. Have a bite.
Explore, #213. Thanks a lot, my dear friends!
Marianne and Rainey: this is the natural light in my kitchen. I need to find the right angle, so I walk around the object and observe the light through the camera. My kitchen has white walls and a big window. The glass filters a smooth, soft light . I use here a Canon Rebel XT and a Sigma 2.8, 105mm, macro. I played with the DOF. My father always showed me the light... he was a painter and an inventive photographer. Now, he is an old and handsome man.
I did a workshop of Still Life in a scholl - the Camera Viajante, but I don't have the equipment. I will buy a still table next year.
My first attempt at making the dumpling pastry. Next time I will use smaller apples and add more sugar. I just guessed on the sugar mixture
