Combination between a Jonathan and a McIntosh Apple. Best eating apple I've had in years. Bought these at the Uptown Farmer's Market yesterday.

I stopped by MacWorld on Wednesday and I definitely had to get a couple photos of my next phone. ;-)
The camera is behind a round glass case running a demo. So you have to shoot through the glass.
I had to handhold these shots at various distances because the camera was always drawing a crowd. Some of these are taken with a Canon 500D diopter on them the others were shot over the crowd without the diopter.
Obviously I didn’t trust the auto-white balance so the blueish tint to the screen is because I white-balanced for the indoor fluorescent light of the expo hall
I do love this time of year when I can get up on the ladder and pick the apples in the backyard. My mom and I decided it was time to get the apples off the tree since we only have a couple warm days left. I liked how the light was hitting the leaves and the apples. I couldn't find another 5 gallon bucket so this old one had to do. We picked 2 - 5 gallon buckets 2 - Small buckets and a couple grocery bags full of apples. I am going to be baking apple everything for a while.
Have a great weekend everyone!
The Marcher Apple Network had a display of several tables of Herefordshire apples at the Herefordshire Food Festival.

This box has been sitting here a while, patiently waiting to get installed. the cube is the entire Final Cut Studio, needed to do a stretch of video editing.
The box sitting on the right is only half of the documentation.
It's been a few years since I did FCP, and am hoping the rust shakes off.
Apples are so good to eat,
To have one is a special treat.
Red, green, yellow too,
All of them are good for you!

Apple 'Rival', early September. An Engish dessert apple bred by Charles Ross, head gardener at Welford Park Gardens, Newbury, Berkshire. "By the early 20th century 'Cox's Orange Pippin' was well-established as the premier English apple. However it was not the easiest to grow, and many attempts were made to cross it with varieties which were easier to manage. 'Rival' is slightly unusual in that the other parent is 'Peasgood's Nonsuch', a well-regarded English cooking apple, which imparts good disease resistance and a much shaper flavour." www.orangepippin.com
Finally got a decent apple off this very young bench-grafted tree and no time to enjoy it because the house had to go up for sale.

I was trying to come up with some autumnal flavours. Apples are in season now, so this is a wonderfully moist cupcake with pockets of lightly stewed Bramley apples.
The tartness of the apple cake is paired with a sweet blackcurrant buttercream, made with my MIL's homemade blackcurrant jam. All topped off with a fondant flower and a sprinkling of glitter.

I was taking a lot of screenshots when I was moderating for J!NX Forums. I saved a bunch and thought I should upload them here for posterity sake.
