Hopefully the strawberries can withstand it but I think the hosta plants took a big hit. Fortunately the hosta will come back if the frozen leaves are removed.

Sometimes it is sheer luck - the sun was shining bright, when I decided to visit an apple orchard - arriving there, it was hazy and not the right light. So, I was nattering away with the farmer's wife, her showing me their two bee-places. One in a caravan with 20 beehives and one actually in a shed with about 15 behives.

The light shade before the sun didn't want to vanish, despite most of the sky was in deep blue.

There I was in the apple orchard and the sun showed no interest to "do it".

I met the farmer and we had (long) talks about his job, his duties and earnings and the haze in front of the sun turned into proper clouds and it almost looked, as there would be rain later on.

I just said to the farmer: "Well, that's it - I guess the sun is not on my side today", when there was a gap opening between the clouds and for about 10 minutes I had the most beautiful light in the orchard.

Thanks to all of you, showing me, that you like the picture - and thanks to the sun - giving me the chance to shot this picture.

This is what my apple slices were for :)

Chicken and vegetable kebabs with a side of the most marvelous grilled apples. The slices are soaked, basted and served with a sauce combining orange, vanilla, honey, ginger and mint. So delicious! Recipe for the apples here.
