I ate this apple at lunchtime today.
I wanted to know how good the four apples were that our old backyard tree accomplished this year. So I have been eating them, regardless of their sometimes twisted shape and superficial scab.
And they haven't been bad eating. This one, picked a week ago and left in a bag with its siblings and some apples from another tree, was sweet and tasty though a little dry and perhaps even mealy -- if that is the right word for apple-meat like that of russets, say. It has obvious problems (like: who'd ever buy something looking like this!?), but altogether I am impressed with the quality.
The tree had produced *five* apples, but one was blown down and lost in the hurricane (Larry) that went through here almost two months ago. I picked the others when frost seemed like a certainty. This was the ugliest of the lot, by the way. And I'm showing its pretty face here.
Apple is taking a different path with the launch of the Apple Watch, with online sales and try-on appointments beginning more than two weeks before availability. As a result, Apple Stores did not see the usual long launch lines this morning. I made a Try-On Appointment at the Ala Moana Center store.
And there the apple was
Gold and tempting
Begging to be eaten
And take her breath away

My brother took this shot. If you have seen any of my photos they are mostly by him. He is a wonderful photographer and enjoys me putting photos up for him. I hope he likes this shot!

She is tender, sweet, and beautiful!
I decided to keep her name, her rosy cheeks and round face, she is like sweet apple!
Thank you so very much, Bianca to let me adopt her!

I was inspired to take this shot (I have been meaning to for over a year but haven't had the right equipment) by a picture taken by kwerfeldein, which is particular favourite of mine. See below.

Keswick Codlin is an old apple, dating to the 1790s.
An early cooker that cooks to a pulp. Apple tart season can start a bit early if you have one of these trees. We are going to have a go at early cider this year using this apple, George Cave and crab apples.
I planted this tree as a maiden whip on MM106 in February 2004. It has done well for me although the size of the individual apples it produces has decreased in past 5 or so years.
I made these earrings for the November Art Bead Scene challenge. The art beads are polymer clay made by myself. The earwires are hypo-allergenic gold niobium.

We cleaned out our shed of a pile of old boxes, including these three Apple products; a 2000 iBook, 2002 iBook, and Airport Extreme base station. All of them are still working today.
Boxes will be in the recycling bin next week.
