Sooooo I was at my girl's home, riding my stupid dead horse Dante. No, I'm not just being mean. Whilst I love him so much, I acknowledge that he's as dumb as a bag of hammers. He gets stuck in the trees, wanders off sim and gets returned, spins in circles and won't keep his nose out of Oriana's alicorn's ass.*
I was riding him today and thought HEY let me take my now-biweekly candid shot! So I initially stood him nicely on the jetty then thought - yanno, one of those horse riding waist deep along the shoreline pics would look really good. So I rode him out just a little bit more.
But.
Teegle horses swim when they go in water. I swear to Gaga I didn't know! Until, of course... glub glub. So I took advantage of the surprise bath and shot us both swimming for our - well not lives but certainly to maintain our lovely manes.
You can see more of Dante in all his undead glory here at the first version of this shoot.

Facebook just reminded me it was 3 years ago today we adopted our loopy Lina, who came from Romania originally! We saw her on a website, when we were looking for a rescue dog to adopt and although there were other cute dogs, we kept coming back to this one!
Here she is standing in front of a mirror Tim bought from a charity shop after one of his visits to the hospital!

Looking rather unloved is this eight cylinder diesel engine standing in the yard at the Midland Railway Centre, Swanwick, 3rd March 2016. There are no markings on the engine, however being an eight cylinder unit suggests it is an English Electric 8-SVT used to power the Class 20 fleet.
Metra Rock Island Train 625 departs Gresham preparing to make Local stops between here and Vermont St/ Blue Island Station. Here is the back of the train slowly creeping out of the station before branching off and making its next stop at Brainerd.
I only paid about $30. The rest is free stuff and prizes.
Because of some of the comments, I feel that saying this is necessary:
None of this is for trade!

Nottingham City Transport (NCT) is one of the largest remaining municipal bus companies and is regarded as one of the best operators in the UK. In the early 1960’s City of Nottingham Transport as it was then developed a very strong corporate identity with an attractive “two tone” green livery and its own distinct standard double deck bus body specification for rear engined, front loading buses. The initial purchase of rear engined buses was a batch of forty nine Daimler Fleetliner’s in 1962/63. It then moved on to the Leyland Atlantean chassis and over the next four years would purchase ninty nine chassis fitted with either Northern Counties or Metro-Cammell bodies to the Nottingham specification. Through out this period NCT operated a dual sourcing policy and continued also to purchase Daimler Fleetline chassis and with the spread of one man operation purchased in 1966 thirty Daimler Fleetline CRG6LX chassis fitted with Metro-Cammell H45/27D bodies with one set of doors at the front for entering and one set of doors in the middle for exiting. It would be 1968 before the first dual door Leyland Atlantean arrived when a batch of twenty two (501 – 522) Leyland Atlantean PDR1A/1 chassis fitted with Northern Counties H45/29D bodies appeared. 520 (PTO 520G) is one of this batch and can be seen here on Long Row, Nottingham, 3rd June 1981.
Much of railroading gets done under cover of darkness..it's easy to photograph trains in the daytime ..much harder to capture the action at night.
Back in the day we spent a lot of time at Sprngfield MA , where most (TV14 13 BC1 TV5 TV6 did not ) B&A trains changed crews ,allowing for time exposures .
"Beaneaters" were Boston based; "Dutchmen" from Selkirk..
In the early months of CR things operated as they had in the PC era...alas none of that remained the same.
SEBO pauses momentarily to change crews and continue its late night journey to Beacon Park as SENH backs off up onto the B&M to head south to Cedar Hill on the adjacent track

A shot from the “lost” five strips of 126 instamatic black and white negatives recently found from my week long 1973 Western Region Railrover holiday in July 1973. The Western Region Railrover commenced at 00:01 on the Sunday morning and the preceding Saturday was taken up with making our way from Nottingham to London Paddington via Grantham, Peterborough, Cambridge, Stratford, Hither Green, Willesden and Old Oak Common. Between the end of the Second World War in 1945 and 1962 around 2300 diesel shunters entered service on Britain’s Railways. Around 1500 were based on the English Electric 350bhp 0-6-0 diesel electric design whilst the remaining 800 or so were 0-4-0 or 0-6-0 designs at around 204bhp. From 1967 British Rail started to reduce significantly its shunter fleet and withdraw the older, less reliable and non- standard locomotives. By the introduction of the 1973 TOPS renumbering system the 2300 locomotives from twenty or so classes had been reduced by about half and consisted of basically two classes (class 03 and the almost identical class 08/09) plus a few odds and sods. Here we see four of those shunters which were not allocated TOPS numbers and have been recently withdrawn awaiting a tow to the breakers yard at Stratford MPD, 3rd July 1973. Leading the line up are three class 11 locomotives 12134, 12109 and 12110 followed by a class 04 locomotive 2217.
Locomotive History
In 1945 the London Midland and Scottish Railway began building at Derby Works a batch of diesel electric 0-6-0 shunting engines. By the formation of British Railways on the 1st January 1948 fifteen had been completed and construction was continued by British Railways until 1952 when one hundred and six had been built. They were numbered 12033 – 12138 and were the forerunner of the class 08 design. They were later classified as class 11.They remained in service until the late 1960’s/early 1970’s. 12134 was built at Darlington works, entering traffic in December 1952 allocated to Stratford MPD, 12109 and 12110 were also built at Darlington works entering traffic in June 1952 allocated to Stratford MPD. All three were withdrawn in November 1972. 12134 was apparently (according to all the usual sources) broken up by G Cohen, Kettering in March 1973 however here it is still intact at Stratford four months later in July 1973!!. 12109 and 12110 were broken up by Marples and Gillot, Sheffield a month after this photograph in August 1973. 2217 entered traffic in July 1955 allocated to Stratford MPD, was withdrawn in May 1972 and was broken up by CF Booth, Rotherham in November 1973.
