Yes I do realize this shot is a little far fetched. But at the same time, it was so different that I couldn't help to start to take a liking to it!
I actually got the idea on accident. I simply had my camera in my lap crooked, and snapped a picture to see what it would look like. The original didn't come out as good as this one (it was over exposed and blurry), so the next trip I tried to make the same "accidental success".
This is the best version I came up with. Pretty neat, huh?! (And yes, I see the three folks ruining the shot, but that couldn't be helped. It was a crowded night and I was relieved to get that few people in the way!)
Sort of different, I know. I'd love to hear your constructive feedback - positive + negative. Let me know what you think in the comments.

I've been wanting to play around with dark but high detailed portraits for a while. I finally got the chance to start with them when Caleb came over earlier this week. This was done using a clamshell type setup with a 580EX II in a 3' Octobox overhead and a 430EX II in a 22" beauty dish below, triggered by Pocket Wizards. Processing done with Photoshop CS3 and Photomatix Pro.

Took this while out for a run tonight. I've been really interested in the flood light that lights the car park in the park, and just wanted to try something with it. Will try something else another day, too.
