Canon 6D Mark II with Sigma 24-70mm lens.
Captured during the "On Fire" weekend of May 25-26. Sunday June 9th there are elections for the Parliaments.
Together with Sarah we took several pics of this event @ Leuven.
After the speeches the president of the PVDA took a group selfie with other candidates and the crowd.
Not my best technical photo (because of the difference in light on stage and beyond), but it surely represents the atmosphere of the day.

Wenn der Aufbau eines Schutzpolizei-Sonderwagens des Typs Daimler DZVB 21 (Schupo) erzählen könnte, kämen sicherlich interessante Geschichten zutage. Das letzte bundesdeutsche Exemplar kam auf einem Tieflader von einem Schrottplatz in Hannover-Hainholz nach Munster und wird in der Lehrsammlung des Panzermuseums gezeigt.
Der Aufbau diente im Weltkrieg bei den Bombenangriffen auf Hannover unter anderem russischen Zwangsarbeitern und teilweise auch ihrem deutschen Chef als Bunker. Das Unikat stelle für das Panzermuseum eine wissenschaftliche und zeitgeschichtliche Bereicherung dar und erinnere als einziges Stück an die politischen Verhältnisse der Weimarer Republik.
Der Daimler DZVR 21 war mit einem Daimler-4-Zylinder-M-1574-0ttomotor von 100 PS ausgestattet und hatte - wie alle anderen Sonderwagen-Räder der Große 1220 x 160, die hinten doppelt vollgummibereift waren. Die Aufbauten stimmten bei allen drei Typen im wesentlichen völlig überein.
Die Ausrüstung und Bewaffnung war völlig auf den Kampfeinsatz gegen schwer bewaffnete Aufständische ausgelegt. Als Bewaffnung dienten zwei Maschinengewehre 08 (MG), die in zwei diagonal angeordneten, auf Kugellager laufenden Drehtürmen untergebracht waren. Aus Schießscharten und weiteren Öffnungen konnte ebenfalls mit MG und Maschinenpistolen sowie mit Karabiner und Pistole geschossen werden. Der Kommandant führte das Fahrzeug aus einem eigenen Turm, der mit Sprachröhrenleitungen zu den beiden anderen Türmen verbunden war.
Das Panzermaterial bestand aus hochwertigem Chromnickelstahl. Die senkrechte Panzerung der Schupo-Sonderwagen hatte eine Stärke von 12 Millimetern; die unterhalb des Rahmens angebrachten, ebenfalls senkrechten Bleche maßen 7 Millimeter.
Durch die schwierige wirtschaftliche Lage zu dieser Zeit zog sich der Bau der Sonderwagen so in die Länge, dass die Mehrzahl erst 1924, der Rest 1925 fertiggestellt und den Schutzpolizei-Verwaltungen der Länder übergeben werden konnte. 1928 standen 72 im Dienst der preußischen Schutzpolizei. 38 weitere bei Polizeieinheiten anderer deutscher Länder. Verwendung fanden die Sonderwagen in der Weimarer Republik und spater in der Reichswehr, die 45 Stück mit abgeändertem Aufbau benutzte.
Einsätze:
Die bekanntesten Einsätze des “Daimler DZVB 21 Schupo” waren der Ruhraufstand als Folge des Kapp-Putsch im April 1920, der mitteldeutsche Aufstand im März/April 1921 und der Hamburger Aufstand im Oktober 1923, die zum Teil von der KPD als sog. Arbeiterrevolten gegen die “Weimarer Republik” initiiert waren. Ab 1929 bis zur Machtergreifung der Nationalsozialisten waren die kasernierten Polizisten nahezu ununterbrochen zum Schutz oder der Auflösung von Demonstrationen und der Sicherung politischer Veranstaltungen im Einsatz. Im Ruhrgebiet aber auch an anderen Orten wurde z.B. auf demonstrierende Arbeiter geschossen.

Meet Marie. I noticed her waiting in line at a small fruit stand because of her hair accessory and her traditional bavarian costume which she was wearing. When she was done with shopping, I walked up to her and asked for a portrait. She was a bit suspicous at first about what this was all about and where it would be published, so I handed her my card and explained the idea behind the project. Luckily, my explanation was ok for her in the end.
I asked her to walk a couple of steps ahead out of the shadows from the houses and over to a more lit area.
As she just bought grapes, Marie asked me to hold them. I tried to, but holding a bag and keeping the camera still was impossible, so she had to put them somewhere else :)
I only took the single shot above. Usually, I take more than one, just to be sure to have a sharp image and the possibility to chose from different angles. But after looking at the screen of my camera, I was more than happy with it and the focus was perfect as well. So there wasn't a need for more.
Marie was just on her way home from work which is a department store. Her section sells traditional clothing like Dirndls and leather pants (the Oktoberfest starts in Munich in a few weeks) which is why she was wearing her outfit. But she doesn't always wear it, so I guess, it was my lucky day.
We really had a fun conversation about where (not) to buy cheap leather pants, as I don't want to spend 200€ on them. It seems quite impossible, especially at her department store, as they only sell quality at rather high prices. So for a student looking for a bargain buy, it's not the right place :)

I'm back at the railroad tracks I talked about in my last photo, no.20, with the stop sign. Remember I said that about 100 meters past the stop sign the tracks ended? Well, here it is! From this point behind Dad the Prescott-Russell Recreational Trail goes for 72km all the way to the Quebec border.
This end of the Trail is only 4km from our house, and Dad says maybe one day we'll walk all the way to the other end! Is he nuts? He'll never keep up with me!
