A photo of the Transit of Venus (aka Blueberry) across the face of the Sun (aka Ruby Red Grapefruit).
As we were unfortunate enough to be covered in thick and heavy cloud on Wednesday morning when this spectacular astronomical phenomena took place and I don't think Ill be around to see the next one in 2117 this is my recreation of said event. Credit has to go to ~jules~ for the idea! You know what they say my friend, imitation is the highest form of flattery! Just too good an idea to pass up!

White-tailed Prairie Hare (Lepus townsendii) resting along the roadside on the prairie landscape east of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It has still some colour change to go through so it is not completely white which makes it still possible to spot in the snowy landscape. It was mostly overcast with light snow so the conditions were not overly bright today!

A little hidden portion of McGee Creek in the Eastern Sierra's located southwest of Crowley Lake. I used a 4x ND filter to be able to get a slow enough shutter speed to make the water smooth. Fall in this area is incredible. The creek offers endless opportunities ofr photographers.

I felt sick today, so I stayed at home. It's nothing bad, just a little cold, but I felt really bored so I decided to give my second Raquelle a little makeover ;-) and I'm quite happy with the result.
She also got a new Personality and was renamed "Liz Katō" ;-)
This doll is just so much fun to photograph that I got more than one great picture of her, so I'm thinking pf uploading the rest of her pics as a collage later on ;-)
Further evidence of how many different looks you can get from this very same spot. Even on the same day.
Here, I turned the polarizing filter down a bit, and got down low in a spot where I could get a largely unbroken expanse of calm water. This way, I could get the deep blue sky, as well as a balanced combination between the reflections and the clarity of the water and the rocks below its surface.
7-shot HDR image made from RAW files taken hand-held with an Olympus OM-D E-M5 camera and M.Zuiko 12-50mm lens, exposure bracketed at nine frames per second, 12mm focal length (24mm FF equivalent), ISO 200, 1/30-sec, f/14, with a Hoya circular polarizing filter turned about halfway. Merged and tonemapped in Photomatix Pro 4.2.
For other takes on this spot all within a few minutes, scroll on through this "Sierra Nevada 2012" set.
Thanks again for all your views, comments, and favorites. I really appreciate you taking the time!
Didn't make a special trip to get this shot. I know I already had a picture of the blue car but I was driving through and thought, "what the heck. I'll drive by it." I'm glad I did. ;p
awesome view on black!

A bald eagle wades into the chilly waters of the Chilkat River looking for a drink. Ever vigilant, he turns to make certain he is not followed. The eagles at the Alaska Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve seem almost impervious to the frigid temperatures that frequently dip below zero Fahrenheit. The unique glacial geology that from which the Chilkat originates allows portions of this river to remain liquid throughout much of the year. This gives the eagle access to the salmon that have spawned and are now spending their last day along its banks. If the Chilkat does freeze, the birds move south in search of food. #ILoveBirds #IloveNature #ILoveWildlife #Wildlife in #Alaska #Nature #Photography #Picoftheday #Photooftheday #Eagles #BaldEagles #Haines

Nyhavn Harbour - Copenhagen, Denmark.
It's hard to miss the Nyhavn harbour when visitng Copenhagen. The brightly colored houses lining the canal that stretches from Kongens Nytorv (King's Square) to the Royal Playhouse have been here since the 17th and 18th centuries. Nyhavn was built by King Christian V from 1670-73 as a gateway from the sea to the old inner city where ships handled cargo and fishermens' catch. Not only does the harbour contain many historical ships, it is also where famed Danish author Hans Christian Andersen had lived for many years.

. . . But if life is the prick of tears, or the scream of anguish,
That shout of desperation or of broken promises. . .
Then I can say, with absolute certainty, that I have lived.

Week 15 in 52 Weeks for Dogs and this week it's one of our occasional group challenges - 'Joy'.
Tasku and I had a beautiful forest walk on Friday in lovely sunshine; I heard the first cuckoo of the year and Tasku got wet and muddy - what more could we ask for :o)
Unfortunately it will be the last walk for a while as I'm fairly sure she started with kennel cough last night - off to the vet in the morning :o(
I added the zoom effect in PS Elements 8 - I added it on a duplicated layer, added a layer mask then used a large soft brush to erase it from Tasku.
Btw, I will try to catch up in the group over the next few days. Apologies for my lack of comments over the last few weeks.
