Questo è un periodo strano. Inquieto.

Today i got around to snap a couple of holiday photos with my girl this bright beautiful Saturday morning. We certainly had a few good laughs over here with her new friend, Mr Nutcracker.

Have a merry happy weekend with a little twinkle in it.

Happy holidays to you and the ones you love.

On my summer roadtrip to Glacier and Yellowstone, my fiancee and I made it a point to speak to locals, explore some less traveled areas, and get something other than the everyday most popular shots. A ranger in Glacier had told us of an unmapped trail to the top of Mt Reynolds. He said to be careful but it wasn't to hard to traverse over there - Maybe not if your a mountain goat! Some places were much steeper than 45 degrees. The snowpack had turned to ice and one slip would have sent us flying uncontrollably down the very steep mountainside and into some pretty nasty boulders and ledges. In fact we took so long to get across the snowpack that I missed the sunset but I think this shot is as good as anything I would have got up there and much more memorable.

North of Aurelia, along county road about 4 miles north of hi-way 3, a barn.

All by itself.

A vestige of another time and another farmstead, slowly vanishing from the Iowa Landscape. I've made it a concern of mine now to look closely for these old structures - most are relatively insignificant examples of rural utility in action, but in the aggregate become an alarming signal of an end of an era. Gone (or slowly vanishing) are the old wood barns and corn cribs. Their usefulness - that rural utility - is disappearing, replaced by modern steel structures - faster, bigger, cheaper... and soulless.

This weeks challenge was to photograph the model in a setup with her crazy obsessions. Obsessions that Koda chose to use as props was her shoe collection and her guitar.

Koda's obsessions are shoes and music and glitter. When Koda is not modeling she likes to compose songs on her guitar. Koda wanted her photo to be bright and cheerful because she loves all colors too. Koda also has an obsession with trying new hairstyles.

I love my 24mm Ts-e, so for a while I've been thinking to write a users review of it. I did, it's here: nateparkerphotography.com/blog/2012/10/the-canon-24mm-f/3....

And check this out- the Bar Harbor harbormaster told me yesterday that the forecast for next tuesdays arrival of hurricane Sandy is calling for wave heights of 19-24 feet!!! Holy Cow! That is gonna be incredible! Whataya think- should I go make pictures that day? -Oh Yeah!! Have a good one and stay safe out there~ Nate.

Re-scanning "Collecting the Xmas decorations" I found another slide taken of the twins the same day in Knole Park - not so dramatic and slightly blurred by movement (it was late in the afternoon) it's still a nice memory...

Interesting to see how J already looks the image of her mother.

A ton of flare fills this image of the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus, Wisconsin...

I wanted to catch the sky and the sun so I was prepared for the flare, but I didn't realize it would be this exaggerated until I started to process it. I really need to think about getting a different lens (DA15) in the near future to shoot stuff like this. Oh well... Happy Monday!

Za wielka gora w Krolestwie Wiary

zyl stary krol juz bardzo stary.

Jego dworzanie wielbili go wiernie

choc krol krolestwem rzadzil juz miernie.

Krolewski ogrod porosly chwasty,

krolewskie roze juz dawno zgasly.

Stary krol cierpial bo zyl bez milosci,

ktora z krolowa odeszla w ciemnosci

gdy ktorejs nocy niezaproszone

oknem wlecialy dwie czarne wrony.

Ich czarne skrzydla lsnily blaskiem,

ktory krolowa oslepil brzaskiem.

Spojrzala w okno widzac dwa cienie,

ktore szeptaly gdzie jest przeznaczenie.

Jej serce zadrzalo, bo przyszedl czas,

by w samotnosci z wiatrem gnac.

Lecz zostawila dar krolowi,

male ziarenko, sile wiary

ze gdy marzenie sie pojawi

to tylko czas jest kwestia wiary.

Ktoregos dnia w Krolestwie Wiary

przyjdzie na swiat krolewicz maly...

The best Dennis Dart to ever hit the road - no lies either, as other colleagues will attest, UEY was good for 60mph, went in a straight line, stopped in a straight line, didn't rattle, didn't bang... sadly it self-immolated a couple of years back. It's engine, gearbox, axles and various other odds and sods saw further use but now it's the end of the road.

Biel – Omega Headquarter (construction site)

By the Japanese architect Shigeru Ban.

It will open in 2019.

Two of the most prominent Swiss brands (Swatch and Omega) will be presenting and expand their main building. Three additional buildings are planned to be built according to the latest logical and energy-efficient criteria. They should be integrated in an architecturally way in the existing environment.

The architectural competition was launched in 2010 and a year later the jury's choice fell on the proposal of the world famous Japanese architect Shigeru Ban. His project has convinced in particular with the pragmatic and true-to-the-original design of the individual buildings. In addition, the existing landscape was taken into account and the landmarked Omega buildings from the early days of the Industria integrated in a remarkable way.

The environmental and sustainability aspects were analyzed in this building project and fully taken into account.

The optimal exterior design for the public use is a fundamental element of the planning. The planned meeting area at the beginning of Gottstattstrasse and the pedestrian walkways along the river are key parts of the recreation area in this district of the city.

Hand's album "The Other Side of the World" will be released on January 27, with my photos on the front and back cover.

When I was in high school at home in Switzerland 40 years ago, close friends and schoolmates of mine formed a band called Hand. Amazingly, since they were 16 and 17 year old kids with lots of talent but no track record as professional musicians, they were signed to a recording contract by a Swiss music publishing house. Their album "Everybody's Own" was recorded in 1971 and published in 1972. By then they'd all graduated and gone their separate ways. The record enjoyed some success but eventually faded away.

Then, the Internet happened. People who'd discovered the music and fallen in love with it got the word out, and the album developed a cult following in the 90's. A publisher was able to track down my friends (who had no idea this had been happening), and got their permission to reissue "Everybody's Own" in 2012. It sold out in a few days. This led to two founding members - singer/songwriter Marc Osborne, and harmonica player Nick Zoullas - re-forming the band with several additional musicians who are now 16 and 17 years old, and recording their second album - "The Other Side of the World" - a mere 42 years after the first one.

There's more on the story, and sample tracks at lightintheattic.net/releases/1032-the-other-side-of-the-w...

Dear Jaz is about 17 years old and has quite bad arthritis, but she's still the boss.

I was sitting at the bottom of my garden yesterday, with Jaz and Cally nearby, when I noticed Smudge (one of my neighbour's cats) had suddenly appeared. Cally ran round the flower bed and kept her under close observation, but did no more. Jaz watched for a minute or so and then she had a look on her face that seemed to say "Oh, for goodness sake, I suppose I'll have to do it myself". She got herself up and stomped right up to Smudge, who gave a little hiss and then turned tail and ran! Jaz didn't even need to raise a paw. She's still got it! :)

Here is yet another Dark Knight Rises recreation in LEGO! This one is a popular one, and has been used by many movie critics on their reviews for the film. It is also the very last image in the gallery on TheDarkKnightRises.com

I'm going to be putting a few more Dark Knight Rises shots up before the movie launches Thursday at midnight! :)

Here's the original photo.

My travels around the UK with my son. June/July 2019 England.

Our last day in London.. Looking out from our apartment building over towards the Battersea Power Station and Thames River.

Battersea Power Station is a decommissioned coal-fired power station, located on the south bank of the River Thames, in Nine Elms, Battersea, in the London Borough of Wandsworth. The station is one of the world's largest brick buildings and notable for its original, Art Deco interior fittings and decor.

The building comprises two power stations, built in two stages in a single building. Battersea A Power Station was built between 1929–35 and Battersea B Power Station to its east, between 1937–41, when construction was paused owing to the worsening effects of the Second World War. The building was completed in 1955. "Battersea B" was built to a near identical design to "Battersea A" which provided the iconic four-chimney structure.

"Battersea A" was decommissioned in 1975. In 1980 the whole structure was given Grade II listed status; "Battersea B" shut three years later. In 2007 its listed status was upgraded to Grade II*. The building remained empty until 2014, during which time it fell into near ruin. Various plans were made to make use of the building, but none were successful. In 2012, administrators Ernst & Young entered into an exclusivity agreement with Malaysia's SP Setia and Sime Darby to develop the site to include 250 residential units, bars, restaurants, office space (occupied by Apple and No.18 business members club), shops and entertainment spaces. The plans were approved and redevelopment started a few years later. As of 2019, the building is owned by a consortium of Malaysian investors.

Restoration of the Grade II* listed Power Station is an early priority in the development. WilkinsonEyre was appointed in 2013 to complete the detailed design of the power station. Work commenced in 2013 and plans include the restoration of the art deco structure internally and externally, reconstruction of the chimneys, and refurbishment of the historic cranes and jetty as a new river taxi stop. The plan includes over 800 homes of varying sizes, and sales of residential apartments in Phase 1 of the redevelopment began in January 2013 with around 75 per cent of townhouses and apartments being sold within four days. Construction work on Phase 1, called Circus West, designed by architects SimpsonHaugh and dRMM, is being undertaken by Carillion and commenced in 2013 alongside work on the Power Station. The full redevelopment consists of seven main phases, some of which are planned to run concurrently. Phase 1 is due to complete in 2016/17 with the Northern line extension and requisite new Battersea Power Station terminal anticipated to complete in 2020.

Pictured above is the ore bridge locomotive the would carry iron ore to the blast furnace of the former WCI steel mill site in Warren, Ohio. An interesting hand painted sign on this locomotive states " No more than 3 ore bridge buckets of raw material."

Built in 1922 the blast furnace located here was once the largest in the world. It was also the last standing blast furnace in the Mahoning Valley. The steel mill was founded in 1912 by Trumbull Steel and was once called Trumbull Cliffs. Since then, ownership has changed hands many times. In 1929 Republic Steel & Iron took over operations. Then during a J&L Steel (Jones & Laughlin) takeover in 1984, LTV Steel was born. LTV Steel gave way to WCI Steel. The Renco Group bought WCI in 2002 and in 2008 Severstal SA of Russia took over. From this RG Steel formed in 2012. The mill last operated as RG Steel when in 2012 it declared bankruptcy and 1200 steel workers lost their jobs.

This relic is the last remaining piece of the historic Warren, Ohio steelmaking era. It's recent demolition will mark the end of steelmaking in the Mahoning Valley.

I was fortunate enough to gain legal access to the site one cold day in March 2017 as demolition equipment was being staged. Now in October 2017 this beautiful piece of American industrial history is almost gone. Over the next few months I will be posting numerous photographs from the site.
