Stormtrooper #1: How come your armor is so dirty?

Stormtrooper #2: I drank coffee while ridin' on the walker.

Stormtrooper #1: Oh, perhaps I should drink Perrier instead.

Two important conclusions from my recent ruminations:

1. I don't take enough happy pictures.

2. I need to start shooting self-portraits again.

I also have a huge roll of film that will be developed some time in the coming week. (:

It was quite the day of productivity in the workshop.

1. I finished and installed my drill press plate (pictured)

2. I finished and used the table lamp (pictured)

3. Routed the prototype for my journal on the different wood (pictured),

4. Designed and cut all the wood pieces for one of my next projects in the studio (not pictured).

Whew... I need a nap now!

...but when there's one train a day, and it is running into amazing light... you shoot it.

Trains are few and far between up on the old Great Northern line between Superior and Grand Forks. About the only thin you can really count on is the few times a week local and a coal load/empty.

The other day it was around 1930hrs, and I heard the dispatcher clearing up track warrant #2. I know there are trains I miss here and there, but man they are hard to catch now that they don't change crews in Cass Lake.

My photographic journey has led me to these three L lenses for my semi-professional needs: 24L II, 50L and 135L. I think I can cover pretty much any events or shoots with these three. I've owned several other L lenses from Canon and all good experiences with them. But the game changer for me was the 50L and the ability to shoot at f/1.2. I really enjoyed that focal length and that particular lens, instantly becoming a favorite. That also meant my 35L had to go. So once the 50L became my main lens, I built around it by selling and buying lenses that would compliment the lens. The other two lenses which round out my kit (40mm pancake & Tamron 28-75mm) are gifts from friends and family that I dare not sell and keeping for life.

While I love my mirrorless system, I cannot part ways with this family. Still so good!

We've had a LOT of rain recently.... a heck of a lot. Our county saw some of the worst weather from "Storm Dennis" & there's been a lot of fairly bad flooding locally. Thankfully, my little town isn't low lying, so we escaped fairly unscathed. Still, we've had lots of trees down, the river burst its banks, & even days after, everywhere is very, very soggy!

Flynn isn't a fan of really heavy rain, & wind makes him jumpy & skittish. Of course, this doesn't mean I'm excused from going outside to play in nasty weather - Flynn insists on having some time exploring the great outdoors, no matter how wet & windy it gets... He just makes sure to let me know he is displeased about the weather, as though it might be my fault, or something I could stop, if I wanted to (I wish!). Haha, every cloud does have a silver lining though - Flynn *loves* the aftermath of a downpour - he has been having an absolute blast splashing in all the extra mud & puddles & newly appeared streams this past week or 2.

I took this in his favourite giant puddle. It's my favourite giant puddle too. It's big & deep enough to be more like a proper pond, rather than a puddle & it appears regularly in one of the local fields, whenever we've had several days of heavy rainfall. It's arrival makes exercising Flynn easy. All I have to do is stand in the puddle, holding a nice, long stick. Flynn then runs circles around the puddle & as he zips by, I use the stick to try & splash him. Flynn thinks this is the most exciting thing in the world & he will keep doing endless laps, for as long as I'll keep standing there & splashing him, sometimes many minutes at a time. It makes me dizzy watching just watching ;-) Border collies REALLY love running in circles!

Un fascinant spectacle un matin d'hiver.

1. I won the spelling bee in fourth grade, one of my greater accomplishments in life.

2. I want to build a time machine and go to the fifties. Everything was beautiful.

3. I don't get as cold easily as other people. Maybe I'm just accustomed to the cold since I lived in colder surroundings before moving to Texas.

4. When I think I'm going to die, I think, "Well, we're all gonna die anyways," and then I don't die. Reverse psychology. ;D

5. I don't know about going full-time with photography as a career path, it seems hard financially. I might just major in psychology.

6. I enjoy poofy princess dresses. :)

7. For the longest time in my childhood, I thought I would be a pop star when I grew up; I sang around the house and made up songs. All that was crushed the one day I decided to record myself singing. Hahaa!

8. I like thinking metaphysically.

9. I enjoy thinking everything's a conspiracy; I used to have a detective phase, but mystery's didn't just come to me as easily as Scooby Doo!

10. I'm not really all that pretty, but thanks for thinking I am! You guys make me happy. :)

It'd seem things came to a bit of a stand still. The death of Mr. Silver hit our organization quite hard, he for the longest time was a friend to every member of both Triple Canopy and the IAS. However what with an engagement going on I thought it extremely necessary to start up the fire once again so to speak, after all rolling over and playing dead isn't in the book.

Gentlemen of the board, General Armani thank you for meeting with me.

General Armani - Given the circumstances, we all found it quite necessary

Board member 1 - Agreed, Director with the loss of Mr. Silver, the board and the general question your ability to effectively lead us.

Director Colt - Believe me, we did everything in our power to save him. He’d already been killed when the extraction team arrived.

Board member 3 - Please, which team went in?

Condor - It was tango team sir, my team

Board member 2 - It’d seem unjust to cut both of you off without a second chance..or is this the third?

Director Cold - Think what you will sir, but I’ll be damned if you insult my team.

General Armani - I admire your dedication Director, what say we put it to a vote? Keep things the way they are, or remove both director and his team? I move we keep them

Board member 2 - I

Board member 1 - I

Board member 3 - I

General Armani - It unanimous, congratulations gentlemen

Director Colt - Thank you sir, we appreciate your vote of confidence

Condor - We won’t let you down sir

General Armani - Which brings us to the next topic of discussion, hunting down Argento the Blue, and now that the Chinese have successfully established themselves, perhaps this will all be wrapped up quite soon.

Condor - There isn't a place on this earth he can hide that we won't find him. Argento's days are numbered.

General Armani - Thats what I like to hear.

But on a serious note I'm not quite terribly satisfied with my Triple Canopy guys at the moment so a 2.5 version will probably be coming out quite soon :D

Now I know this comes way out of left field from my typical DC pieces, but I just got back from seeing the Winter Soldier (after first watching Cap 1 the night before) and felt inspired to do a little fanboy-ing.

I may be all for DC, but Marvel always knows it's way into my heart. (If you haven't seen cap 2, I don't even know why you're waiting. It's so good!)

La Belle Assemblee

being a curious collection of some very remarkable incidents which happen'd to persons of the first quality in France.

By Madame de Gomez

Chapter One - The Seventh Day.

Basically about the activities and relationships of the aristocracy and wealthy high society people in France. Published in 1749 ( Vol 2). I managed to buy this book on Ebay and thought that it was a good starting point for a still life. The image is very much about the calm before the storm – a period of time where the aristocracy and entrenched systems of privileges ruled supreme while the population was saddled with high taxes. To illustrate this a silver spoon is being used as a bookmark whilst the pear is symbolic of wealth and gluttony, especially a very large one! Politically controversial poems were circulating in Paris at this time- an interesting contrast to La Belle Assemblee. These tiny seeds of discontent may have been the very beginnings of the revolution that led to the storming of the Bastille some forty years later. I suppose the Internet and mobile phones have taken over such revolutionary duties………………………

So some disappointing news it that the trailer will not be out on or before the release of the game, CGI is taking a lot longer and figures are still being made and printed as we speak, The big goal is to have it out and done by Thanksgiving Break (I'll have lots of time to work with everybody with putting the finishing touches on). So where looking about 4 or so weeks before its expected to be finished! Stop motion is looking awesome with my new software!

Oh Btw, This scene is a WIP and it will also be blue screened in the background.

Here is the finished Sky Viper; the landing gear was still a work in progress in my haste to submit to NnoVvember in time.

My wife's SLR automatically stretched out to 16:9 aspect ratio when I recorded the propeller action video so I thought I'd try a couple of photos at this ratio instead of the usual 3:2.

I'm hoping there will be enough room to include this in my display at Brickvention which kicks off with Set-Up Day tomorrow, but it's a late addition so we'll see how we go.

So I've probably been tagged a hundred times and I'm finally getting to this now =P

Here goes:

1.) I love to write as much if not more than I love photography.

2.) I've had the same idea for a novel formulating in my head for almost seven years now. I've just started writing in the last three.

3.)I'm going to be a junior in Highschool.

4.)I have one little brother.

5.)I believe in fate and that what's meant to happen will, you can't go against it, you just have to accept it.

6.) I am constantly contradicting myself.

7.) I love where I live. I really do (I just dislike the people.)And if I could, I'd take everyone who likes my photos and show you those places.

8.) Running is a beautiful thing.

9.) Evanescence always was and will always be my favorite band. Though I prefer their old stuff.

10.) I'm terrible at grammar.

So that's more about me, and anyone who wants to be tagged, I declare you tagged.

And if you're ridiculously bored, Formspring me some questions ;D

I LOVE the 56mm 1.2

I LOVE the X-Pro2

New Harvest. Downtown Los Angeles, February 9, 2019.

The camera is the usual Canon 5D Mark II. The lens is the fantastic vintage all-manual Nikon Nikkor 85mm f/1:2 I bought from Japan on eBay.

The car is in excellent condition. You may notice the hood bonnet is released. The owner had raised the hood bonnet for spectators to view the engine. Couple of other points of mild interest are:

1. The US Flag is actually attached to the car's radio antenna. The flag is attached to a white plastic sleeve that sides over the can's antenna, but the plastic sleeve didn't cover the entire length of the antenna. It looks as if the flag is on a pole standing in the grass.

2. I am also in the photo. My reflection can be seen in the passenger-side rear-view mirror.

I HATE FEEET ! I think there so gross, but I got really bored and wanted to do something new. :)

oh & I just got tagged so here it goes:

1. My favorite color is purple.

2. I'm obsessed with fisheye lenses.

3. I can take pictures 24/7 and not get bored.

4. I love music & concerts.

5. I wish I lived in Seatle again or California.

6. When i'm older I want to work for a magazine, be a photographer or maybe a kindergarden teacher.

7. The beach is my second home, I could be there everyday and not get bored.

8. I'm 5'7 1/2.

9. I always space out and i'm always smiling.

10. I think old people are really cute and I just want to give them a hug. :)

11. I'm obsessed with snow & wished I lived somewhere cold.

12.When I turn 16 and get my license i'm taking a road trip somewhere.

13. I'm on flickr constantly, it's basicly the only thing I go on when i'm on the computer besides facebook.

14. I hate spiders & feet, those are the two worst things in the world to me.

15. I'm constantly texting and on my phone every second.

16. Last but not least, I love traveling, I wish I could travel the world and see new things instead of being stuck in Florida.

I would write waaay more but I can only write 16. :(

Before returning to camp the night before I pulled over and checked one last time what the morning weather looked liked before I lost cell service higher up the mountain where I was camped.

I was excited to see that they were still calling for partially cloudy skies around sunrise. With that bit of new information I now knew two more things. 1) I was going to have another early alarm tomorrow and 2) I was going to start my day off photographing at Mono Lake.

When I arrived at my chosen vantage point the air was clear and still. The cold was sneaky and relentless making a down jacket and wool beanie requirements. I set my tripod up while coffee brewed in the cargo bay of my SUV. The day was still very young. The stars twinkled while the sky offered no hints of the impending dawn. A crow passed by overhead and I could hear the "whoosh" of each wing flap. That was special.

Shortly before I finished my first mug of coffee the stars were quickly fading and giving way to the bluer light of dawn. As each minute passed it became more and more obvious that the sky might have something special on this morning's menu and I was eager to sample it all.

random things:

1. this was not my original concept. I was trying to work on my collab with Meggie but I failed. I got really frustrated and decided I wasn't gonna go back inside without a good photo. and I'm glad, because I'm happy with this.

2. I'm preeeeetty dang ticked off about the NBA championship! LeBron (AKA Lebaby, LeBum, LeButthead, etc.) was nooot supposed to get a ring in my book. but alas. I might as well not let my life be ruined by a stupid ring

3. my dad won this rib eating contest today, which is pretty freakin awesome right? but he was supposed to be on the news tonight, cause he WON and stuff and they interviewed him, but somehow he only made it in the background? WHATEVZ, MEDIA.

4. annnd finally, some actual 100% GOOD news - my last upload made explore front page!! ahh I can't believe it still :D proof in comments!

as I was processing this I began to think of Evan. I love how he always does those blue tones! check him out if you haven't :)

This male pheasant has taken up residence in our garden over the last 18 months. We've nicknamed him "Percy", as he struts and parades around in front of his hareem of hen pheasants, which spend most of their time hunkered down in the holly hedgerow. We await the chicks at some point during this lockdown period.

Anyway, as we have all had our wings clipped and are at a bit of a loose end photographically, I'm spending a lot of time sat in my study and "Percy" is spending a lot of time staring in the windows at me. So here are 3 of his observant looks at me caught on camera, so to speak!!

My next garden bird will feature tomorrow!

Star Lord is excited about the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2! Are you?

HHHR capture with OM1.

After catching the 411 Local at Coolidge, we opted to shoot a few more eastbounds against the red rocks before going to PEGS to catch him on the wye. By the time we relocated, he was already done with his work and was sitting on the west leg waiting for a break in traffic to run wrong main back to the east to crossover to main 2. I bounced back to Thoreau to wait for him in the quickly falling light. Within 5 minutes the headlight appeared on the horizon and very quickly got bigger as he was hauling ass up main 1 right into some killer light with 8 cars. With everything from Haystack Mountain to the bold nose logo and the hot exhaust bathed in golden light, it was a good ending to a long day.

Olympus Pen EES-2

I love Olympus film cameras. They are quite characters!

I don't know how to say it...

but i don't think I can handle 365.

1. I have too much work.

2. I don't have enough ideas.

3. I don't have enough time.

4. I DONT HAVE ENOUGH ROOM ON MY FLICKR ACCOUNT.

5. Maybe it's pointless?

Now that I have people that I know on flickr... i want you guys to give me your honest oppinion..

Do you honestly think I should continue to struggle with this 365... or will you still like my photos just as much (or as little) if I did a 52 weeks... (1 shot per week)

I promise to make the shots very good... since there will only be one per week... and I will also add random shoots like I have done already 3 times this week.

What do you think...? Let me know please.
