This photo satisfies requirement 2. I took this picture in my house when my cat was playing with her toy. I used relatively low shutter speed and high aperture to create motion blur while keeping the background clear. The ISO is toned down to make the photo less noisy.

Blue Ridge Parkway - Mile Marker 361.2
Glassmine Falls - an 800 foot fall in the Asheville NC watershed (access is therefore prohibited) which can be viewed from an Observation Platform at this Overlook.
The falls are often dry and barely visible, but Springtime is a good time to view them when rains are more frequent, etc.
We were able to see "wet" rocks and a tiny trickle of water. We haven't ever stopped here before, but we WILL be going back!!!
The beautiful "lilies" seen in some of these photos are "Turk's Cap" and they are "wildflowers" . . . amazing!
Day 33 - Feb 2
I started a challenge in 2010 to shoot for 30 days and upload one good photo everyday but then it turn into 365 days of the year. This challenge is to push myself in photography. I upload my photos to my Facebook and only put my best on Flickr. (Just in case you were wondering where were the rest)
Edit 2 - I did play with the saturation just a tiny bit, but the overall color is fairly true to how the sunset was. Getting the different exposures was a very neat way to accomplish this image.
1. I used my camera and saw the fruit in the fridge in the black refrigerator.
2. I saw the negative space which is the black and figured gthat it would be a great picture because the green and red stand out with the black background
3. I took the great oppurtinite to get the black background and use it as negative space.

Former Dayton Fire Department Truck 2
I had the opportunity to see and almost purchase former Dayton Fire Department Aerial Ladder 2. A 1955 Seagrave 100’ Tractor Drawn aerial. It has been owned by a retired Dayton Firefighter for the last 10 years. It also used to sit at the Dayton Firefighters Local 136 Union Hall. Unfortunately I did not have the initial resources to restore this truck back its former glory. It was an honor to even be able to see this truck in person.

Found this while perusing the Seattle Goodwill Store for $2. I don't know the name of this action figure or the animation series but I do believe it was popular before the Transformers. It stands about 1'6" tall. Unfortunately, it's missing shooter in the left arm and something that attaches to the belt. I still love it as it is.

This photo taken at IMA's tennisl court satisfies requirement 2. I used a very slow shutter speed of 1/4s to blur the boy's action. I used the 70-200mm lens which meant I could take the photo far away from the court just in case the ball comes close to the camera. I used F32 so I can slow down the shutter speed without overexposureI post processed this in Lightroom by changing the saturation of several colors and the temperature.
1. A duck gliding on the water with its neck outstretched.
2. I know this isn't the best quality photo, but I just thought it was so cool. And with us learning Photoshop I thought I could make it a lot better. I tried reducing noise around the duck itself and sharpening the details of his body. And then I also made the background lighter, and a brighter blue. It's still far from perfect, though.
The focus is truly the duck's beak. The angle is from above. As far as composition, there is a lot of texture with the water and you can see his wet feathers a little bit. There's contrast between where he is swimming and the smoothness of the water in front of him. There is a small pop of color with the plant. So it's a very simple photo.

Warm ups 2! I loved being so close to Datsyuk. I think I would faint if I ever actually got to meet him!
This photo satisfies requirement 2. I turned off all of the lights in my grandparent's house and opened all of the curtains/blinds. I loved how the skylight lit up his gray/white hair. The skylight was used as the key light and was very bright due to the sun being directly overhead. The windows on the side of the house were used as fill lights to allow for the rest of his face and details to have enough light for the camera to capture. I used an f stop of 4 to blow out the background, but still have a large enough depth of field to capture his front shoulder and entire head. I used a fairly quick shutter speed of 1/250 in order to ensure that there was no motion blur due to holding the camera with my hands.

I bought the pot of daffodils and put them in a dark cool place until they were ready to flower. But when I went into the front room there it was this single flower reaching out to me.
Daffodils were my Mum's favourite flowers.
I now have a memory of Alan and my Mum.

fashion show piece 2: I started off with blue pearl cotton thread and white peal cotton thread. I hand ikat dyed the white thread butter yellow, light brown, then deep brown. I hand wove this dress and sewed it together. I used one warp to make the bottom of the dress and another to make the top.
