A number of interesting points: 1/I don't know what instrument it was, but the man on the right could actually blow it without breathing for several minutes! Note that there is air ballooning inside both cheeks. I guess he was making use them to blow the instrument when he was inhaling through his nose (?) 2/ I don't know how they managed to keep their clothes so tidy and clean. 3/ their outfit is attractive too: it was a rather nice wrist watch and ring and necklace to begin with...( were they really necessary ? ) Anyway, as I always say, their use of colour is just superb!

Good morning dear Flickr friends,

I was a bit late at my "favorite pier march 2020" and so the light was a bit hard but I tried to make the best of it. We are located in Ludwigshafen at the Lake Constance. The weather changed at the weekend and we have storm and cold temperatures of minus 4 degrees again.

I always hear a lot of music, so old and new. This one from Billy Cobham from the year 2001 inspired me to fly: Ozone Part 2. Billy used his drumming pattern in different songs and solos long time before and I was fascinated, when I started with drumming. It took years when I'm younger to copy the master on the drums but one day I got the rhythm pattern of Ozone Part 2. I often heard him at little concerts in Switzerland in the past. So little, that I stood side by side him and his drum set.

Four of eight Catbirds are still hanging out in the yard. I imagine they will depart soon. Most of the other migratory visitors that make my yard their winter home; have already departed.

I have to say they seem very comfortable here, they don't pay much attention to me or my camera anymore. I could probably fill up my entire front page of images with catbirds posing.

Peak migration is April 27 - May 2. I am hoping to see a few rare visitors this weekend. Have a wonderful day and happy snapping.

A Different Dimension No. 2

I love urban exploration, especially in my hometown Hamburg. Strolling around the city I discovered this multi-storey car park at Rödingsmarkt. Going to the light well was like entering a different dimension. It was built by architect Peter Reve in 1964/65.

Both coming to Uber tomorrow! I am wearing color Azure in the Tville eyes and for Tone 2 I am wearing the Lips from Tone 2 and the upper and lower eye liner (they are separate so you can make your own unique look.

Waterscape 6 of 100 for 2025.

Recovering from a couple of days of Australia Day celebrations here and waiting for the weather to cool down a bit so I can head out for some bush walks and beaches. Temps coming off high 30's tomorrow to mid 20's on Wed, with some cloud about, woohoo, that's the day! Now the fun part planning where :))

Fun fact: The Match.com founder lost his girlfriend to a man she met on Match.com Probably good advertising I guess!

Fun fact No.2: I had to get my cards to check this one. There are four kings in every deck of cards. And while they all look similar, the King of Hearts is the only royal fellow who doesn’t have a mustache. (Are you looking through a deck of cards now ? ;)

An attempt at HDR panorama, tested it on the beautiful city of Bologna.

Here is my workflow for those interested :

- Bracketed images at +- 2 1/3

- Imported all images into Hugin as one panorama

- Exported 3 panoramas, one per exposure (Hugin allows that easily)

- Merged the 3 panoramas into HDR Efex Pro 2.

Friday saw the end of our two weekday morning trains, 920 and 937.

Mike K brought 920 up from Dunedin and took 937 back south after a crossing at Herbert.

The tonnage will be subsumed into other trains and the trainspotters will have less to do now. Not a big deal for me as 1. the sun is too high now for them now, and 2. I'm not much of a morning person. We'll miss chasing them in winter though.

Another New Year's Resolution suggestion. "I promise to spend time being inspired by music and letting it move me into a better relationship with a friend."

Music can be a powerful thing. It can transform us. It is the universal language that we can all understand and that is what makes it so very special. You would be surprised how listening to music with someone can grow a bond.

For me, listening to music with loved ones is deep rooted. Putting on records for my grandma and sitting quietly together, holding hands and smiling at each other as we listened intently was some of my fondest memories of time spent with her.

Imagine what it can do for you. You're on a road trip with someone who you don't know how to talk to. You hear a song you both like and suddenly you both are singing the lyrics out loud. This act breaks the awkward silence and gives you both common ground. :) Think about the possibilities music can add to your life. They are infinite. Happy listening!

365: the 2022 Edition 7/365

One of the requests I get from time to time is to make a triptych of house numbers I have found on my many urban walks. They are usually a combo of numbers to celebrate a special date like a wedding. Initially, I thought it would be easy to make a portfolio of numbers because I only needed to go up to 31. The triptych for today would read 26 3 22. However, once I began paying attention to house numbers, I realized there were very few house/building numbers under 100! Charlottetown, PEI still has several homes in their downtown core with the low house numbers and their numbers often have that Maritime charisma. Then there is the old city of Quebec that has several house numbers with 1/2. I posted this one for the theme “Numbers” to make you Smile on Saturday!

Another brisk day, woke up to 0°F after a surprising full 8 hours of sleep (I normally average 6 1/2). I have to admit that as much as I dislike the cold I have become aware of the wonderful silence that accompanies it. People and their animals stay inside so there is very limited noise pollution from vehicles running, dogs barking, birds chirping, and even leaves rustling in the trees. It is stillness and silence and peace.

Oh, the tea is "pomegranate burst" green tea from Good Earth, it is one of my favorites! Also, the journal has returned since that was my goal this week to include it in every shot. My daughter and I have been drawing together for 30 minutes each morning before she goes to school. I have very limited drawing skills and hope that I will improve with practice if not, that's ok, I just love spending the creative time with my girlie.

Herbst 2016 - die EuroCity Züge in die Schweiz waren noch lang (8 Wagen) und es gab noch keinen Planeinsatz der Panoramawagen. Bei Kottgeisering konnte die sehr saubere 218 423-2 (Motor: MTU 16V 4000 R40) samt EC 194 nach Zürich HB fotografiert werden.

Autumn 2016 - EuroCity trains from Munich to Switzerland were both long (eight coaches) and yet not offering seats in the new dome cars. Near Kottgeisering I was able to take this picture of the clean and tidy 218 423-3 hauling its EC 194 to Zurich.

During processing in Topaz Studio 2, a strange thing happened. When applying an opacity change, the program added a second sheep to the image (the one closest). The rest of the image remained untouched.

I have previously had double-exposure like changes but they were always of the whole image and more ghost-like.

Erechtheum, ionic temple of Athena, built during 421–405 BC on the Acropolis at Athens, famous largely for its complexity and for the exquisite perfection of its details. This week's Big Excitement for me ! My first excursion with my newly delivered camera took me to our nearest field and it was being harvested. A combine harvester - Oh JOY ! You can see the dust it's kicking up over there on the right near the trees. The driver saw me taking photos and kindly drove down the field again and right past me, smiled and gave me a 'thumbs up'. Isn't it wonderful when people are so kind? Made my day ! (That may be my next upload).

The clouds were beautiful and I loved the lines the newly cut stubble made, so I painted this scene in Topaz Impression 2. I do hope you like it !
