~ Allen Ginsberg, Sunflower Sutra~
Two of the ten things that make me happy this month: the poetry of Allen Ginsberg and sunflowers.
two hundred and fifty five
because you asked.
1. I’ve always thought French is such a beautiful language. I wish I took it up when I was younger, but it didn’t make sense to start a third language when I haven’t even mastered my second one.
2. When I was fifteen, I decided that I was going to be a radio deejay. That sort of came true… I was a deejay at my school’s campus radio for a year.
3. I did small parts acting when I was younger. It’s a funny story about how I got the audition, which I will tell at another date. The roles I did include a gossipy nurse, a teenager trying to con a kid of his savings, and a bubble tea girl who got sacked because she didn’t want to wear a bikini. I guess it felt good to have fun and get paid at the same time.
4. I was such a gawky geek in secondary school. I had thick glasses and really short hair. I was such a boy. In fact, I think I acted exactly like one. Still do at times actually. Needless to say, no one paid me any attention.
5. I am really good with my hands… Should I leave that open to interpretation? Nah… it just means I like creating with my hands. I am (if you will) a crafty person.
6. I used to get really frustrated when some of my lousier photos got into explore and the ones that I put so much work into and enjoyed creating didn’t. It made me feel like a really lousy photographer. But I decided not to let explore take away all the fun in photography and just enjoy taking photos and viewing other people’s work. Yes, I became zen…
7. Amelia likes talking about herself in the third person at times. She also liberally uses the royal “we” as and when she likes it. No Queen of England can stop her.
8. Although I like portraying myself as an artist, a part of me still loves holding a meeting room full of people enrapt with attention and telling them that I know something more than they do. All this while pacing about in noisy stiletto heels.
9. This weekend, I reflected that cooking is a lot like editing photos. You really have to know when is the right moment to stop.
10. I know this is morbid, but I think about dying a lot. I think about the people that I will have to leave behind and get really sad. I’ve also decided that the two hymns to be sung at my funeral should be “This is My Fathers World” and “I Don’t Know About Tomorrow”.
Oh gosh… that was long.

#1. I love to buy Indian sweets.
Sweet shops have a hundred kinds to choose from. I choose by impulse because I have no idea what the flavor will be. Some are sugary, some barely sweet, some almond-flavored, and some flavors I can't identify. Some are chewy, or soft, or crunchy.
It's fun to sit down to dessert and be surprised.

10 Things:
Just before midnight yesterday as I went to let the cats in I noticed that the skies were extremely clear. Clearer than they have been with the last week of clouds and haze. I noticed the stars were much more visible and the light pollution was minimal. And then on the spur of the moment I packed my camera gear—and grabbed my film body to boot—got in the car and drove 20 minutes south of the city. I pulled onto a road I knew would give me an unobstructed view of the southern horizon. I spent just over an hour snapping happily away and just soaking in the night sky. What you see here is not as dramatic with the naked eye. That's what I love about film and digital sensors; they're so sensitive to light.
Spring time on Edward Street in Buffalo, NY.
I love this building. It's one of my favorites in the city!

10 things.
1. I hate to wear a bra.
2. I sometimes dream I’m playing an instrument (on stage) when I’m listening to music. Usually the guitar or piano.
3. About 5 years ago I got to a bad point in my life. I smoked up to 10-20 cigarettes a day (way more at weekends and when I drank). And drank alcohol (usually vodka) a lot; sometimes up to 4-5 times a week (very heavily) NOT GOOD! Reason why? See No.5! Now I don't do either, except an occasional class of wine or pint of cider. - The reason why I would share such an embarrassing thing; I want anyone who is going through the same, or has been through (or on the road to) that it's ok. Sometimes life just blocks our paths. Sometimes we get lost and forget. I know I was young, and silly. But it wasn't until I had stopped destroying myself that I realised who I had been...
4. I love tea and take it with milk and one sugar.
5. I used to way over 250lbs (about 20 stone) and I’m still working on my weight. Last night I started a new ‘body pump’ class. My body is aching today, ahahahahaha. But I’ll go again next week. (I know, I’ve told you guys this before).
6. I miss my Dad. I don’t see him very much.
7. I doubt myself a lot.
8. I love Disney. All the classic animations are amazing. And I love all the new stuff with Pixar. I also love Disney songs and own quite a few CDs hehehhehe. When I have them on I stop what I’m doing and usually just walk about singing my wee heart out.
9. I love cereal and have a bowl every morning for breakfast. My faves are - Shredded Wheat, Cheerios, Special K, Start, Crunchy Nut, Weetabix, and Cornflakes. And I have all of these and more in the house at all times : )
10. I love the show ‘Six Feet Under’. Its one of my all time favourites! From start to finish it is jam packed full of amazing stories. I love how real, how beautiful, how sad, how funny, how dark and how brave the show is. I wish it never ended and just continued with amazing stories forever. I’d never get bored with it, or any of the characters, which I love all in their own way. Though I see some of myself in Claire and so probably relate with her the most. The way it is directed is stunning. And I love the music score. If any of you haven’t see it, go buy it now!! Its something you’ll want to own forever, and pass on to everyone you know.
Hope you guys enjoyed my ‘10 things’ : ) …the people I tagged, I look forward to reading your’s too!
Love.
Credo di aver scoperto da qualche giorno che mi piacciono da impazzire i tulipani... :D E stamattina, quando ho aperto la finestra e li ho visti...così meravigliosamente splendidi sul davanzale del vicino... sono stata davvero felice... :)

List ten things that people may not know about you.
1. I'm solar powered. If I don't get any sunshine for several days, I start to feel drained and very tired. This makes winters very hard for me to get through.
2. Despite my love for the sun, I'm very adament about wearing sun protection. I don't like being tan.
3. I'm seeing Tori Amos perform three times this week. She's my favorite musical artist.
4. I got bit in the face twice by mosquitos today. arg!
5. I love watching documentaries, even if they are about what seems to be uninteresting things.
6. I want a bee for my next tattoo
7. I don't like to cook, but I hate doing dishes more.
8. I fantasize about being a singer.
9. I think a Zombie Apocalypse would be really cool.
10. I like animals more than I like most people.

il mio primo ingaggio pagato! ^_^
This is a concept shot I took on an idea I had several weeks ago. I've been kicking this around for a while and have been trying a variety of different techniques to get the 'sketch' portion right. I'm also going to try some different angles to shoot this from. If you've got any suggestions for me, I'd like to hear from you.
I was tagged by casualbrewery. In keeping with his spirit, I will actually post 11 things... 10 truths and one white lie... If you'd like, try and guess which one is the lie. List of victims will be posted at the end.
1) 2.5 years into my college career, I switched majors from Music Education to Computer Information Systems. Even though none of my classes were useful for this new major, I was able to graduate in a total of 5 years, which isn't that uncommon.
2) My primary instrument is the concert flute. I also played piccolo for my high school wind ensemble. The decision to play flute was made largely out of necessity... I was a latchkey kid, and I had to pick an instrument which I could carry to school.
3) I was raised Catholic. I was an alter boy for about 7 years. Like many with that kind of background, I essentially stopped going to church after I quit.
4) My first car was a 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT, I inherited from my cousin. Damn... I really miss that car. this isn't true
5) I played Ultimate for Towson University. I wanted to play for a club after college, but my work demands prevented such a commitment.
6) I married my high school sweetheart. We started dating in 1998, got married in 2006 in Hawaii.
7) Since 2001, I had a boycott on going to movie theaters. I gave myself two exceptions: lord of the rings and spiderman. Broke the boycott twice in that time (Saw II and Shreck III) because I was forced to go.
8) My movie boycott has now largely been overruled by my wife, starting this summer. Now that we're comfortable leaving our son with a babysitter, she made the call that if we're going to have 'date nights' they're going to include the occasional movie... :(
9) In 2nd grade I burned my hand on the stove. While there wasn't any long term damage done, I swear I can still recall that very particular smell of your own flesh burning.
10) Back in April I decided to become a vegetarian... pescetarian, to be more exact. I've had a couple of lapses since then, but am generally happy with this lifestyle choice.
11) I'm of mixed heritage. Filipino on my mother's side, Cajun/Acadian on my father's side. I've been called just about everything in my life... spanish, latino, greek, middle-eastern, jewish... the list goes on. Very few guess asian, and only other Filipinos would guess that.

2/10 - My Husband Jeff
Who I love very much and I am very grateful to have him in my life ^_^
Here starts my new '10 things' project, originally inspired by Elizabeth Taylor. I've been trying to write a list of 10 things that I loved about that day, more or less daily, for a while now. Now I'll start taking pictured of some of those things. Perhaps not on a daily basis, but when I feel like it.
6 June 2007.
I love summer nights. The fact that I can go out in the garden at 10pm and the sun is still only thinking about going to bed. The scent and the warm breeze are truly lovely.
One of my favorite things is the Utata Thursday Walk. It's become something of a tradition. A little over a year ago...on a Thursday, of course...one member of Utata said she was going to take a short walk and shoot a couple of photographs. She invited others to do the same. Every Thursday since then, members of Utata all over the world have been taking short walks and shooting photographs of what they see.
It's a simple thing. An ordinary thing. But it makes the world a smaller and more friendly place.
Ten things I like:
1. Those tattoos that come with little pieces of gum.
2. Letting my hair down after having it tied up for six hours. (I work with food, can't have it down!)
3. Clean sheets.
4. Sleeping next to my cat.
5. Watching movies in my pyjamas.
6. Wearing dresses. Or mostly just not wearing pants.
7. Necklaces.
8. Books.
9. My owl bag.
10. Making video blogs. If anyone wants to hear me talk in Icelandic (and a little bit in English!) for over eight minutes then knock yourself out! www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNRvpDUTz0Q"

This time it's time to play ...."List 10 things that your friends may or may not know about you, but that are true."
Before I start here are my 10 unsuspecting newly tagged friends:
Bettie, Lamont, Bumbles, Skip, Dani, Penny, Rita, Josh, Merwing, Photo David, Mr. Pow, Mr. Decepti, One Crazy Weasel, and .....oops went over my limit...but you've been called out!
Mwha ha ha!
Ok here goes some random truths:
1. I like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for dinner. So much so that when other people (family, co-workers) see me digging my juvenile chow choice...they want want their own!! I like it on flat bread, tortillas, crackers, waffles, pancakes, and even french toast.
2. I suck at video games. Once the controllers got beyond the ninetendo gamepad deal w/ the 2 buttons...I got worse as the game systems got more complex. I have to admit some of the games looked sooo cool....but upon playing just drove me batty w/ how hard they were to control. Hello playstation! Now here comes Wii. I'm digging playing games again! Must be the two buttons. Ha!
3. My 8 year old just taught me to play chess. Guess what? It's not stuffy or hard! Totally enjoyable. I would encourage you to pick it up sometime soon and make a go of it! How many games can you pretty much worldwide just sit down in a park and just play w/o knowing any language? Pretty cool if you ask me!
4. I hate that in childrens films or literature 99 percent of the time some tragic accident has to happen to get the story across. Or the main characters are orphans. Can't kids that are happy have excellent adventures as well? Also 4 out of 5 times if there is a boy in the story his name is Peter.
5. I'm over movies for the most part. Tv shows actually have....wait for it...... character developement. That rocks! I like getting sucked into all the well acted weeklies w/ movie stars that now slum in cable shows! (Damages, Saving Grace, The Shield)
6. I quit smoking 17 years ago. Yet, often in dreams, I puff away like a mad man! I don't urge or even have any desire to smoke during my waking hours. How weird is that? Do our addictions get really crammed in the old subconscious or what?
7. I am allergic to sea food yet completely and totally fascinated by sea life. I did eat fish sticks and some other sea food as a kid. It's the shell fish that almost did me in. Since then I just stay away from anything that swims.
8. I seem to be at a point where I'm either reading comic books or classics. Nothing inbetween. Pretty much all Batman and Verne. Nothing modern or fun and popular. Wacky.
9. I try constantly...and I need to be reminded often...that it is the journey that we should be enjoying...not the end result. Paitence. Gotta get some!
10. I just realized the other day that even though I have 20 years in where I work in order to reach social security (age 65) I still have 28 years to go. Zoinks! I thought I was more than half way through. The way things are going now everyone I know that has retired at 30 years is now working another full time job elsewhere w/ less pay and vacation. I guess I'll be sticking around.......
Extra bonus truth:
Hey, I like these things!
Tag me any time.
When else does one get to self analyze in these busy, busy times?
Ok, Flickr peeps. I've been a huge slacker lately. The incredibly talented Allison Achauer tagged me weeks ago. I just now finished my list. So, here is another random helping of Fish. This time I decided to go with blasts from my past.
Tagged: 10 random flash backs
1) My maiden name is Polish. I used to be blonde and top heavy too. I bet you $5 that you want to tell a joke right now.
2) Growing up, I tried very hard to be a wallflower. I could not stand people looking at me. I wore almost entirely earth tones, very little to no make-up, and long unstyled hair.
3) Despite being too clumsy to be athletic, I was always a bit of a tomboy. I spent most of my free time riding my bike around the neighborhood just like the other boys, except I preferred to wear summer dresses with shorts underneath.
4) Some of my fondest childhood memories are of summers at the lake with my cousin. We both bought homes near that very same lake.
5) My first celebrity crush was David Bowie. Labyrinth? Wowsers!
6) My first kiss would have been in grade school, but I told the boy that I would punch him in the face and then tattle.
7) I was nearly left behind at a rest stop once. I was left behind at the mall multiple times.
8) I do not know how to handle compliments. Praise was seldom given in my household.
9) I cannot stand salons. Perhaps it's because I had fine, naturally curly hair that my mother insisted on layering & perming. It was terrible. My father called me Brillo Pad.
10) I grew up in a thoroughly working class environment. No matter where my life takes me, I will always be simple and unassuming. I'm not sure that is such a bad thing.
10 Things:
"Who are we? We find that we live on an insignificant planet of a humdrum star lost in a galaxy tucked away in some forgotten corner of a universe in which there are far more galaxies than people."
—Carl Sagan
Although I like Provia 400, I think Sensia 400 does an extraordinary job of getting the colours of the red emission nebulae just right.
10 Things:
What can be recorded in two minutes with a photograph: car light trails, star trails, and satellite trails of the Shuttle Atlantis and International Space Station.

10 things about me
1. I’m really forgetful so I have to write everything down. This means that people think I’m highly organised but actually I’m slightly chaotic. Lists are essential to me. I just need to remember to read them.
2. I love faded grandeur and slightly worn vintage stuff.
3. I teach history, mainly medieval and early modern Scottish.
4. I can’t make it through a one-minute silence to commemorate WWI without welling-up.
5. I always opt for day-trips to the coast but sand seems unnaturally attracted to me.
6. One summer I worked in a jewellery store in New Jersey, mainly piercing ears. It was quite gross.
7. I was vegetarian for about 15 years before deciding to eat fish again. I think that makes me pescatorian.
8. Having gone some time without a visit, I’ve seen four films at the cinema in the last week: Harry Potter (a bit boring really, 2 stars); The Proposal (better than I imagined, 3 stars); The Hangover (really quite funny, 4 stars); The Orphan (great twist, 4 stars).
9. I love heights, especially when I can lean over railings and look straight down.
10. Electrical equipment has a tendency to break when I’m near it. My family joke that I have a magnetic force field around me.

So I've been tagged by an inspiring lady, OUTS, quite a while ago. Now's as a good a time as any to post one of only a couple of self-portraits along with 10 totally random things.
1. Too much anxiety.
2. Busy often, mostly with distractions.
3. City instead of nature.
4. Newly ambidextrous (meaning my writing is just as bad with the right hand as it is with the left, along with my two left feet).
5. Still schooling, part-time at nights, hopefully full-time in a few months.
6. Eat sushi too often and drink too much coffee (WARNING: these two don't mix ^^).
7. Love being pushed to the back of the seat when taking off from a runway.
8. Need to shoot for more HDRs.
9. Speaking of which, need to shoot more wide-angle.
10. Actually, just need to shoot more and spend more time on Flickr, period.
I don't know how many people to tag back :P ... but I'm interested in what Christiaan, purpleface, PMcK and chewie have to say. Should you not choose to participate, no biggie.
Cheers all.
This is for Adrienne's group 10 Things Others Say About You!
So I asked the girls to think of 10 things (5 each) about me that they would tell someone if they asked, "Tell me about your daddy." Here's what they had to say.
By Sydney:
1) my daddy snores loud like a choo-choo train
2) my daddy cooks good steak. its pink. (she likes her steak medium rare like me)
3) i like to dance with my daddy because he's silly.
4) i like to play with my daddy. i cook food and he is my customer.
5) he's a good daddy because he's funny. he dances and plays funny.
By Jessie:
1) he has a big tummy because he eats a lot.
2) hes a good photographer. he takes wedding pictures. he takes pictures of us.
3) he spanks us (i really don't. lol. i dunno where that came from).
4) he tickles us when we don't listen to him. and that makes us laugh.
5) he bought me a princess curtain for my bed.
Ducks are the perfect synthesis of dignity and absurdity. Ducklings, on the other hand, are too cute to be dignified and too cuddly to be absurd. The transformation from duckling to duck, from cute and cuddly to absurd and dignified, is one of Nature's great magical tricks.
and to have them along the wall, it's like walking in with no clothes on. it's terrible. [andrew wyeth quote]
he guys! i’ve been tagged by prayerspaces.
she is able to surprise me with her images and other question. lol - so please check out her photostream too! :-)
here goes…with ten things you might not know about me...
you know it's winter over here. i mean no grey, rainy or more autumn like weather, but the real winter weather, with heaps of snow, ice. and not only for a few days like other years. it's more then three weeks ago now that the first of snow fell down here.
when snow comes in such great volumes before the ice is formed. ice grows slow. to slow for skaters. so i asked myself and some other guys. snow or ice?
for me definitely snow. and the fun thing is, i didn't realized until then. :-)
i love ice and all the fun that is connected to it, but i do love snow more than ice. and i think it's because of the transformation it gives to the landscape and everything. |1|
and because we have a house with a view (you didn't know or did you? :-) i only have to look through my window to enjoy every inch of snow and all the other transforming stuff that goes with it. it's like a lively widescreen television and because every window has it's own unique view |2|
we don't need a television at all. and so we haven't. ok joking. we do have a television, but we have no connection to any tv-channel. we decided to, a long time ago. and we are so busy with other things that we really don't know where we could make time to watch :-) |3|
the television is there, because i do love watching movies. my dvd library is growing, so for every mood there is a title :-) motion pictures combines so much i love: acting, photography, music, text and a story to tell |4|
a few of my favorite titles? copying beethoven, hable con ella, le fabuleux destin d'amélie poulain, lost in translation, a love song for bobby long, august rush, efter brylluppet, another mother and i can go on :-) last night i saw 'nothing personal' in the cinema. it was a real joy to watch and worth to watch again, so i may put it on my wish list for the growing library :-) |5|
my inspiration for photography comes from a life long watching. (i learned from a friend not so long ago, thank you, andreas :-) so many remembering through images i keep in my mind. the pattern of the kitchen floor. the carpet that became a traffic life for the toy cars i played with. the less or more faded paint on the toys, the colors and how they matched to each other. how things worked the sleeping eyes of my doll for example :-), shapes, textures. |6|
i'm a moron as it comes to history facts. i was more the mathematic and chemistry type than history. i still can't reproduce important years that count. you can tell me a thousand times and i won't remember next time, but a technical issue? give me some tools and i'll figure it out. (in my head not with my hands.:-( :-)
when somebody tells me his or hers personal history, my remembering is far more better. i think it's because it creates images and to store them? well you know that already :-) |7|
do you know the feeling when you are supposed to use your camera but other people watch you. well i have that too. i'm always a little bit shy when it comes to that. but sometimes you'll have to do your thing and every time the miracle happens; i forget everything and become passionate again. |8|
the miracle never happens when i'm cleaning the house. i think it will be a lifetime torture to me. cleaning the house will come back again and again and if one can do it with passion it'll be a joy and that on weekly basis. wow!! :-)) |9|
i think every day is a gift, maybe that's why they call it the present :-))) |10|
pff. i managed 10. :-)
i’ve tagged 10, you know who you are ;)

don't you think it's nice when your images are used for posters, advertisement etc?

10 Things:
I was going through some photos from last year and had to take a second look at this one. I didn't originally post it back in June because I didn't like the post-processing I was doing at the time. Now after everything I've learned in the past eight months I figured I could try working on it again. Perhaps it serves as a hint of summer during the bleak February days.
school started today! first day of junior year. fun. it was loads of fun. we have IB camp soon, and that'll be fun too! oh how i love school. two more years and i'll be done and missing it heaps.
anyways i've got tagged ages ago by anna and madeleine but i never got around to doing it so i guess i'll do it now.
one. school makes me happy.. i mean yes, we get homework, and yes it can be a lot and annoying and stressful, but am okay with it. i have amazing friends and i make the best memories in school. i love going to school. like i really look forward to it everyday.

three. this picture is of bombay bokeh! yay i miss that place.
four. i just had the most amazing summer ever. best summer of my life.
five. incase you haven't noticed, i have a bokeh addiction. haha.
six. i am currently reading a vampire series. not a veryyy famous one i think. its by PC and Kristin Cast. they're good! very different from twilight.

io & te.

10 things: croissants!
direi che proprio oggi.
in questa giornata grigia.
i colori sono l'unica cosa che mi rendono felice.

If I could choose where I wanted to live it would always be at the seaside.
Something about the vastness and endlessness of the water against the horizon makes my heart hurt. I can lose myself completely in it.
It also inspires fear. Everyone who ever looked down from a boat in the middle of the ocean with no land in sight knows what I mean, I think. The sun rays getting lost somewhere in the deep darkness beneath you.
The salty ocean smell, the wind in my hair, the sound of waves crashing on the shore. It all makes me happy.
There are many like it, but this one is mine.
Actually, I'm less interested in the "mineness" than in the "bikeness." I love the idea of a bicycle. I love the feeling of riding, the smoothness of it, the nimbleness. It's so quiet, so crisp. It's impossible to get on a bike and not immediately revert to being twelve years old.
I was tagged by Wendy and Bootsieking to share 10 things about myself,
A while back there was something similar going around Facebook where you were to note 25 Random Facts about yourself. Warning: I think I stopped at around 35 on that one, so here we go, in no particular order!
1) I worked for Sears for nearly 20 years starting as a Sales Associate at my local store in Pennsylvania and retiring as a Buyer at their Chicago Headquarters. It's the only place I've ever worked (unless you count my cousins Chicken Farm as a kid). I still straighten and fluff racks whenever I go into a retail store.
2) I'm good at Math, but for some reason I don't know my multiplication tables (especially the 7's and 8's). Now that my daughter is learning them, I'm embarrassed she knows them better than me, although we're studying together, and I think I'm improving. Maybe it's not too late.
3) I'm incredibly dependable and have little tolerance for those who are not. I have a hard time asking for help, or saying NO...so I often find myself working into the wee hours of the night to get it all done.
4) I love Journey and especially "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin" - it still makes me smile when I hear it. I seldom listen to CD's because I like the surprise of hearing a favorite song come on the radio - like I was meant to hear it for a reason.
5) I secretly want to be a cake decorator or work in a flower shop.
6) I was 16 when I graduated High School and didn't skip any grades (I turned 17 a week later). My father was in the Air Force stationed in Finland when I started first grade. Students there begin school at age 4.
7) At one time we had as many as 7 pets, only ONE of which we actually saught out and purchased. The rest were gifts or strays. My husband has a soft spot for the lost and needy. I really want to keep a few chickens in a pen/coupe in our backyard, but he is very much against it. However, should one - or two - happen to show up on our door step one day...
8) I love food and will try almost (I said almost) anything at least once. Some of the more exotic things have been Sea Cucumber, Thousand Year Egg, Shark Fin Soup, Tripe and Chicken Feet. It really bothers me when people say "yuck, gross or eew" to foods they have never even tried.
9) I volunteered as a Docent at the Brookfield Zoo in Chicago (one of the BEST Zoo's in the country). I still remember a ton of animal facts - go ahead, ask me a question!
10) I'm a terrible speller (yet another thing my 8 year old can do better than me). The perfectionist in me is saying I should cut and past all this into word and run a spell check...but tonight I'm throwing caution to the wind and letting it go. So tough cookies if my erros offend you.
Now it's your turn!
music inspires me
music can find me
music can take me all night long Yeahh
music inspires me
It satisfies my life
it turns me up
it goes on and on
