This photo satisfy requirement 1. I took this in my room with the lights off and used my fairy lights to take this selfie. My camera settings had an aperture of f/16.0, an ISO of 400 and the shutter speed at 1.6 because I wanted to create a "painting-with-lights" kind of photograph. In Adobe LR, I decreased the exposure and blacks and increased the contrast and highlights. I then made the photo black and white.

Day 1: I removed the left outer sill. All bolts came off easily, except the two at the front end of the sill. I will tackle them tomorrow. The rusty outer sill came in one piece - or almost!

I haven't looked at the right outer sill yet....

...How long will You hide Your face from me? Psalm 13:1

I feel like this at times, when seeking God and not seeming to receive any answer, like, are You really listening, God??

But David does go on to say...

But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in Your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, for He has been good to me. Psalm 13:5-6

The Poem Company issues are all unnumbered & anonymous, a small quantity of each held back for binding into yearly volumes. it's unknown for certain which series this is from (3 series of some 5o issues each) but, given many of Varney's statements of an intended fixation on concrete poetry, it's reasonable to assume that he may have in fact begun the Poem Company mailouts with the 2nd-previous issue's almost-monograph as a means of courting such submissions from amongst his hitlist.

• i've assigned small roman numeral numbers to these 4 issues as a means of differentiation & will correct if i ever find an accurate accounting of the series.[edited by Ed Varney. Vancouver, Intermedia Press, 1969?].

Continuing with an exploration of Sony in-camera jpg generator "Creative Styles" using "Light" as the basis for B&W images. The idea is to under-expose a scene by 1/3 of a stop and convert to BW after downloading images onto a tablet or small computer.

The goal is to have something "presentable" for when I'm on the road and don't want to wait until I get home to work on RAW files.

On a tablette I'm able to tint BW images on the tablet using Snapseed as well, which sort of mimics what I can do on the Big Computer.

I'll see soon enough if any of this is worth pursuing as we have several adventures planned for the Fall. Having said that, the places we'll be visiting will probably be best expressed in color.

[Update: Change of thinking] For that I've found I really like Sony "Creative Style - Neutral." Of course I'd be shooting RAW+jpg. The change from "Deep" to "Neutral" comes after realizing that it becomes complicated to nudge the AWB with the editor and to desaturate the scene to -1. I can never remember to do these things, even saved as a Custom Setting. So, "Neutral" it shall be from now on. It'll make life easier for me.

Four Quartets, Burnt Norton 1

Time present and time past

Are both perhaps present in time future,

And time future contained in time past.

If all time is eternally present

All time is unredeemable.

What might have been is an abstraction

Remaining a perpetual possibility

Only in a world of speculation.

What might have been and what has been

Point to one end, which is always present.

As I mentioned on Day 1, I'm on a quest to find the best Pad See Ew in my area. I've been measuring them all against the best pad see ew I've ever had, at a place in LA. Well, tonight I got the closest and I have my current #1 place. This is the veggie pad see ew from Thai Lovers on Piedmont in San Jose. It was amazing and near perfect. The flavor, the way the veggies were cooked, the amount of sauce, everything. And I could customize which veggies I wanted or didn't want, awesome! Pair that with the A-Mazing veggie tom yum hotpot we started the meal with (very spicy and a huge amount for the price) and this place is so very much the current winner. We will definitely be bringing people to this one in the future.

Re-look…

What if we take the time to have a second look at our city.... not through the eyes of its accustomed inhabitants, but through the eyes of a perfect stranger...

Very familiar and beautiful places will all of a sudden look less spectacular, they will look wired.

Our city has been invaded by millions of dark, bulky wires that took part of our landmarks and reshaped our traditional architectural places, streets, homes and even tourist attractions.

This is a call to relook our city. By overexposing these wires, I hope everyone will have a re-look on the city and contribute to its relooking so it would regain its original glamour.

1) i am excited that i'm not there.

2) i hope tahoe gets pounded!!

Alli visited a canine oncologist for staging tests on May 30/12. She has stage 1, T-zone indolent lymphoma - a slower growing cancer that isn't curable. Because indolent lymphomas cannot usually be cured, the main goal of treatment is to keep good health as long as possible.

There aren't many published studies on canine lymphoma so the information is sparse. There are many subtypes of lymphoma and the type Alli has carries a similar course to other subtypes of indolent lymphomas, which have a reported median survival time of 33.5 months or about 2-1/2 years, while the median survival time for all types of indolent lymphoma is 4.4 years.

Aspirates revealed elevated lymphocytes in 2 other nodes as well as her liver.

We will be starting Alli on a chemo treatment of Chlorambucil. It is generally well-tolerated in dogs, with few to no side effects. Hopefully, with treatment, we can slow the growth of the lymphocytes without adversely affecting or diminishing her overall quality of life. From what the oncologist told me and from what I've read so far, indolent lymphoma is not typically painful.

We will also be speaking with a holistic vet to see about complimenting her chemo regimen with natural alternatives as well.

Just incase you couldn't read them :

Life Aid Against Aging, 12.09.09 @ "De Kuip", Parklaan 1, Ninove.

This design was made for a customer who wanted an unusual interpretation of a classic celestial motif. It's a 22-inch y-necklace with a 20mm Swarovski crystal star pendant in light sapphire. Dyed freshwater rice pearls in light and dark blues, natural round freshwater pearls in silver-grey, sterling silver star charms, antiqued pewter sun charms, Swarovski 4mm bicones in light sapphire, sapphire AB and capri blue satin, and a metric crapload of cobalt silver-lined glass seed beads.

This was version 1 -- I made a couple of changes in the final product.

Tonight I finished my practice DIY lightbox. What did I learn?

1) I need to go larger in scale

2) Use a white cardboard box (I had to line the inside of this one with white paper)

3) Iron out any folds in the fabric for the inside lining

4)Muslin is too thin and needs to either be doubled up for the lining, or a less porous, smoother fabric needs to be used inside the box.

Other than that, it was a fun experience and I can't wait to try again

1. I used the bee and the plant as my subjects.

2. I wanted to capture the bee that was resting on the plant because at first, it seemed to just be walking on the plant. Then as I was editing I saw that its wing was damaged.

3. I was standing and I leaned down a bit, careful not to get too close so I didn't disturb the bee. Then I took the picture with the bee on the top right of the grid.

Looking to identify the genus species of this plant. I took this photo on the Big Island of Hawaii in April, 2012.

Shot 2 of 3

O'ahu Early Detection comments that it is a Dicranopteris linearis. If so, then what genus species is Fern #1 in my photo stream? The crozier on Fern #2 is quite different from that on Fern #1. I'm confused...
