Good morning everyone. As the title indicates I'm pleased to present today the first of some "snowbird" pics taken during our first significant snowfall of the season. Which timing wise took place Christmas eve. Not a major snow storm by any means just a few inches of the white fluffy stuff, but it did make for some nice photo opportunities.
First up in this series is the proverbial "snowbird" being a Slate-colored Junco (Junco hyemalis hyemalis). Male in this case.
For those of you that have taken bird pics when it's snowing know it can be very challenging. Not only can focusing be a bear due the falling snow creating havoc with the auto focus if it's snowing heavily, which it was at times, but so can the variable light conditions. Plus the fact you're outdoors freezing your butt off doesn't help matters. Not forgetting your fingers and toes.
With that said, I hope you enjoy the series, which will include a couple of videos.

I volunteered at PAWS Atlanta. I took photos of some of the dogs and cats that need homes. I thought I'd also remind people you can find great pets at shelters and in rescue groups. And of course, help control the pet population, please spay and neuter your pets!!

This is my 4th attempt at building the Enzo. The Enzo Ferrari my favorite car, so I really wanted to replicate it as well as possible. This is easily the most difficult creation I've ever built. My 1st and 2nd versions can be viewed here, and the 3rd version can be found here (never finished, WIP).
For this one, I decided to build it at a larger scale; 1:12.5 or 19 studs wide, because I realized I had reached the limit of accuracy at 1:16 or 16 studs wide. Since I wanted to build this as accurately as possible, it took me about 18 months to finish. Even now, there are some areas that I am not completely happy with the outcome. Perhaps the most difficult part of this car to build was the butterfly doors. It took me many months to discover a hinge solution that would be somewhat compact and yet allow the doors to open at a fairly accurate angle.
Overall I am satisfied with the result, and I'm really glad I've finally finished building it!
