Gand is different. It's an environment which I haven't experienced before. The surface is littered with remains of countless demolished craft, left to rot in the barren desert. Everything is static; lifeless. Alone. The solid lack of civilization was unbearable. Walking through the debris and shattered residue of the Rinv VI was quite absurd as well, considering how nothing was recognizable. The entire vessel had been obliterated on impact when it had collided with the planet. Anything that hadn't made it out might as well either be dead or dying. Or infected, to make matters worse.

The Rakghoul plague had spread through the entire station. Occasionally I would come upon one of those god forsaken monsters, each with a slight resemblance of a former soldier, with bits and pieces of Republic Armor straggling from their flesh. It was disgusting. The best I could do was avoid them, but even that proved difficult. They were everywhere, and hunted in dozens upon dozens.

They found me. It was impossible to reach the damaged bio-weapons without shooting something. There was only one, but that was enough. I could easily pick it off with Ruby, my rifle, but couldn't find the nerve to kill it. It was still a former soldier. A friend. Consumed by the intentions of the Sith acolyte, it was still a person at that. I pulled the trigger.

I killed it. No, I killed him. The faint resemblance of Fett's face fell to the ground as the body toppled over. Confederate bastards. They're contaminating the entire planet.

Build for challenge on brickpirate.net: any cover whatsoever (film, comics, music, book…).

I wasn't in a "brickbuild" kinda mood so I tried something different. This is a hybrid between a traditional Lego mosaic and a Powerpig (Chris McVeigh) type of drawing. I worked it a little like a painting, with several layers.

Obviously it's almost impossible to put all the details on such a small surface and the result is more than approximative, but somehow I'm really happy with this. Something I may study more thoroughly in the future.

Yesterday afternoon I picked up a Nikkor 50mm 1.4. This purchase was due to the influence of the notorious Mifsud borthers: Melvin www.flickr.com/photos/melmif/ & Nic www.flickr.com/photos/nicmifsud/

Over the coming days I will be posting pictures that are the result of me exploring this new lens. I hope to get the hang of it.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Ghostbusters, and just in time for national Ghostbusters day, here is my LEGO 'mechto-1'!

It is based on the Cuusoo/Ideas set 21108 which is a superb likeness of the iconic ecto-1 car. I didn't think I could improve on the design, so instead I thought I'd make it into a transforming ghostbusting mech, complete with ghostbusting accessories!

Enjoy!

A new year and project. Wish me luck.

'Leafscape 1' is a macro photograph of a leaf.

So begins the February Photo Challenge.

Day 1 is you, or me. So here I am. Oh how I hate doing sps!!

Looking forward to tomorrow - I won't be in the picture!! ;-P

Happy Hump Day!

Happy new year to you all. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a great start to the new year.

1996 RIAT - RAF Fairford

Here is my latest LEGO creation - a 1:16 scale model of the LaFerrari. When it first launched in 2013, I was not a fan of the design. However, the LaFerrari has grown on me over time and even though it's now 8 years old, its styling is still fresh in my opinion.

Building a LEGO model of the LaFerrari proved to be quite a challenge, as the real one has many complex curves and intricate shapes that were difficult to replicate. Whereas most of my other creations have one or two areas that I can pinpoint as being the most difficult to build, this one was simply difficult as a whole. In the end, I am happy with the end result and it is a nice addition to my shelf alongside its predecessor, the Enzo Ferrari.

As usual, this creation features opening doors, trunk, and engine cover.
