It's the start of Eva's 52 weeks for dogs project, and I thought I would share the back story using a little inspiration from Meg Price and Barney - in the form of a conversation between Eva and myself:

Dave: "Eva, It's time to start your 52 weeks for dogs project."

Eva: "You mean 52 weeks for dog treats?"

Dave: "Well, I can see why you would get that impression, but it really is about the photos"

Eva: "Sounds good. Just please don't make me do anything too embarrassing. Remember, I'm proud and mighty"

Dave: "You do realize that right now you're wearing boy's underwear with a hole cut in the bum for your tail?"

Eva: "Dude, I'm in heat and it's not cool to talk about my condition"

Dave: "Sorry."

Eva: "Can I have a treat yet?"

Dave: "Nope, pictures first, then payment."

Eva: "Are you sure about that?"

Dave: "Maybe. I thought we should start the year by highlighting how smart you are. Want to play some Scrabble?"

Eva: "Sure, I love scrambles. Throw some cookies all over the floor and I'll scramble for them!"

Dave: "Not quite, it's the word game."

Eva: "Sounds great. You get the board and I'll spell out some words"

------pause for her to do her work-----

Dave: "I like the 'fifty two weeks eva' part. But are you seriously playing the word 'ye'?"

Eva: "Darn tooting I'm playing 'ye'. It's the plural of 'thou' and this project requires work from a lot of us. Mainly me, but also you as the photographer, Karen as the assistant, the kids as part of the fun, and everyone else on flickr to share with and be inspired by. Oh yeah, don't forget the treat baker. Can I have one yet?

Dave: "Sounds like a little bit of a stretch on the word 'ye', but it does seem to be the only way to make it work well. And don't forget you've been getting treats all along."

A little long for a conversation, but I thought I would give everyone a glimpse into the inner workings of her mind. Eva is our Brittany Spaniel pup. Hard to believe that she's almost eleven months. Last year I did the project with my retriever sweetheart Kael, and loved the project, the group, and all of the great photos plus extra time with Kael. This year will be different with Eva as her energy level and training are different than Kael's was. One thing we are working hard on is letting her off lead. Hopefully we can get that rock solid so all of her photos don't have to be indoors or in the back yard. We hope to share some of the natural beauty of Saskatchewan with you over the project as well as some photos of the fun and quirky Eva.

And by the way, this scrabble set is one of my favourite things. It's a 1950's vintage set that was at my family cabin for years. There are even score cards inside from games my brother and I played with my grandpa when I was in grade 4 or 5. I used to be able to get a whopping 36 points back then - for the whole game.
