Interior of the Salvatorkirche (Church of the Savior), a Greek Orthodox church with a slightly convoluted history:

Built in late Gothic style in 1493 as a cemetery church for the relocated cemetery of the Frauenkirche.

With the secularization in 1803 it should be destroyed, but it was used as important storage, so destruction was avoided.

In 1806 it was gifted to the Lutheran community in Munich, but due to continued usage as depot the Lutheran community could not use it. With the decision to build the Lutheran St. Matthäus church in 1825 the Lutherans returned St. Salvator to the crown.

In 1828 King Ludwig I of Bavaria gave it to the Greek Orthodox community for use, but the church building remained property of the state.

After this it remained Greek Orthodox and was renovated multiple times, most recently some interior refurbishing happened in 2022.

Desearos un feliz fin de semana

Most likely a few million images of Neuschwanstein Castle have been taken over the years, but this one is mine. Shot was taken from Marienbrücke on a cloudy drizzly normal late autumn day. Hadn't really thought about posting till today. Hope everyone on flickr is enjoying their week. :-)

Schiffsverkehr auf der Ostsee in Warnemünde

A super wide view of Nymphenburg Palace as seen from the east with some impressive clouds above.

Schloss Nymphenburg is a palace located in the west of Munich and one of the main tourist attractions of the city, with yearly over 300,000 visitors,

The palace is the main summer residence of the House of Wittelsbach, former rulers of Bavaria.

Commisioned in 1664, the central building in the style of an Italian Villa was completed in 1675. Gradually the sides were added and the current appearance was reached in 1716.

Another dig in the archives. I remember this day at Spoon Bay, looking towards Wamberal Beach in the distance. There was a magical red sunset but the bushfires were quite bad this season, so the sky was also filled with smoke.

I recall the words of that famous old philosopher Yoda ... On a beach, you are. Fire smoke on the horizon, there is. On the beach, stay.

Very wise Yoda, he was. Happy Wednesday out there, may your skies not be filled with smoke.

Stunning Autumnal Colours reflected on the Staffordshire to Worcesstershire Canal just outside Penkridge in Staffordshire

The leaves are all gone for another season. Soon the river will begin to freeze up and the snow will start to fall. It saddens me - as I am a summer person.
