Varenna is a comune on Lake Como in the Province of Lecco in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 60 kilometres north of Milan and about 20 kilometres northwest of Lecco.
Varenna was founded by local fishermen in 769, and was later allied of the commune of Milan. In 1126 it was destroyed by the rival commune of Como, and later received the refugees from the Isola Comacina, who had met the same fate (1169).

This is in spring (last year), but the colour palett reminds me much more of autumn than anything else.
Busy bus and tram station with a futuristic roof structure, located in Schwabing.
And, even if the structure looks like "plastic fantastic", it is actually a steel construction, total weight 400 metric tons.
Combined from 4 exposures, each 15 seconds long, to catch all the action.

I take pictures because I like it, not because I am good at it.

Or Mad about mist, I headed out to Sutton Park this morning with Marnie. At first, we could barely see 10 yards around us, but when we reached here, near the Donkey Sanctuary, the fog started to lift a little, enough to get a fairly 'atmospheric' photo. It was very quiet, very peaceful. We enjoyed it. I may not be able to visit the mountains, but there are always the beautiful woods so near home. I am privileged to be only three miles away. Others have nowhere to roam in safety. I am also so blessed to have a loving canine member of my family who takes me out for walks with her.

A panoramic view of Schloss Blutenburg (Blutenburg Castle). The castle was first mentioned in 1432 though it's origins reach back to a moated castle from the 13th century.
In the years 1438–39 Duke Albert III, Duke of Bavaria rebuild the castle as a hunting-lodge.
Nowadays it houses the International Youth Library (Internationale Jugendbibliothek) and the library of the Michael Ende Museum.

Visitors at Läckö castle - with the castle reflected in the water.
Läckö is one of Sweden's most famous castles, situated on Lake Vänern (the biggest lake in Europe - outside of Russia). There was a castle here in the Middle Ages, the place was first mentioned 1294. But it burnt down in the 1470s and a new one was built in its place. That was the founding of the present castle. At first it belonged to a bishop, but after the reformation it was taken over by the king in 1528. The present-day look owes much to work done on the place in the middle of the 17th century, when the place was owned by Magnus Gabriel De la Gardie (a member of the absolute echelons of Swedish society at the time - he was married Maria Eufrosyne av Pfalz, a royal princess).
But the Swedish economy in the later parts of the 17th century suffered heavily from all the wars going on and the Crown needed money badly, so much of the land the Crown had handed out to the nobility was taken back. And that fate befell Läckö. That meant the end of the more innovative architectural work on the castle.
So this is a medieval castle famous for its Baroque style.
Built in the east of the Holy Monastery of Patmos, on the top of the hill with view of the sea, the three windmills of Chora gave their name to the neighboring district of Mili. From the moment of their restoration in 2010, they can be characterized as another jewel of the island, which was awarded by Europa Nostra.
