Bei Jacaranda-Bäumen handelt es sich um mittelgroße bis große, sommer- oder immergrüne Bäume oder Sträucher. Sie haben gegen- bis wechselständige, meist doppelt oder einfach gefiederte, selten einfache, Laubblätter und glockenförmige, überwiegend purpur- bis malvenfarbige Blüten. Einige wenige Arten haben weiße Blüten. Es werden end- oder achselständige Rispen oder Thyrsen gebildet. Die zwittrigen und fünfzähligen Blüten besitzen eine doppelte Blütenhülle.
Die Gattung besteht aus etwa 50 Arten. Ihr ursprüngliches Verbreitungsgebiet sind tropische und subtropische Gebiet3,wie Brasiien, Mexico und Südafrika.

Sunbeams at the Broekpolder, Vlaardingen. This area covers approximately one quarter of the Vlaardingen city area.
From 1958 to 1975 this area functioned as a huge depot for (heavily polluted) dredgings from the port of Rotterdam. It is now the main recreational site of the city.

This had been sitting on my bucket list, for a long while. I was thrilled to be able to capture this sunstar, behind Wizard Island. The weather was very unpredictable, with a clouds and snow forecast every day. My first luck was to be able to find a room at the Crater Lake Lodge, which had recently opened after winter closure. Being a light sleeper, I kept looking out the window, every time I woke up during the night, in the hope of seeing some clearing, to have some sun for my sunrise. I also had the bonus luck of capturing some moonlit night images, which I'll post at a later time.
This is a three 24mm horizontal image panorama.
