There are no poppies blooming yet this year where I live, but here's one from last Spring for this week's Monochrome Bokeh Thursday.

Image taken from Poggenmühlen-Brücke, Speicherstadt in Hamburg Germany of the Wasserschloß straddling the canals.

Depuis plusieurs jours il en passe souvent, parfois vers l'ouest d'autre comme aujourd'hui vers l'est, je pense que la remontée vers le les pays nordiques est commencée.

Bon week-end à toutes et à tous.

One of the brown pelicans at Shell Beach, Louisiana

It's the time of year I start looking through earlier trips to see what I might have missed and I came across this one from the Outer Banks. It's actually a vertorama (barely more than square tho) made from 4 horizontal images. In LR, it didn't look like much due to the distortion of the lighthouse at 24mm, but I was able to "mostly" straighten it out in PS. It also took quite a bit of cloning work to get the nasty red tower that's down south from here too. The lighthouse rays were more subtle in this image vs a couple of my other shots from here, but I think it still works... One of my favorite little features were the neon lighting bugs in the lower left. :) Hope everyone's having a great weekend! (This was w/my Bower 24mm at f2)

Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary, Chicago

This is the last image of my ongoing series of countryside images.

There's more on www.chm-photography.com.

Some birds, including this little warbler, appeared noticeably soggy on a wet, foggy day last month at Chicago's Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary.

Thanks to Sharon (& Wayne) for the ID on this bird as a White-Eyed Vireo.

Several clouds were growing while I was shooting the Bryce Canyon at sunset, why not mount the Zoom and do some shoots on the far distance? The small mesa on the horizon under the pink clouds was absolutely interesting and mysterious. Who knows its name?

Check out Heather's Page on FB for a look at her Visual Journal, a link to her blog, and a mention of the upcoming release of her book, The Clay Girl in October.

This photo is one of Heather's sunrise shots from the beach at the Melia Cayo Santa Maria resort.

She's a better writer than she is a photographer, and she's a damn fine photographer! :-)

An early morning shot of Mt. Rainier mirrored nicely in one of the Reflection lakes. Mountain Paradise indeed.

Success of his Elements of Political Science and his first satirical books Literary Lapses, Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town and Arcadian Adventures of the Idle Rich allowed him to move from his family's summer house at Sibbald Point, Lake Simcoe and over time develop his own lakeside retreat at Old Brewery Bay, where Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching join.

Here in 1928 he built Leacock House (above) designed by Wright & Noxon, Toronto. The scale and ambience of the plans reflected Leacock's success and prestige as a world renowned.

LEACOCK MUSEUM NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE - For over fifty years the Leacock Museum has been welcoming visitors to the Old Brewery Bay on the shores of Lake Couchiching. This stately, 19-room summer home represents Stephen Leacock’s lifetime love affair with Orillia, a town he immortalized as the mythical Mariposa in his quintessential best-seller Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town. Included in the nearly 10- acre site are Leacock House, the Boathouse, Leacock Cafe and the museum archives and administration building. The museum grounds feature gardens and trails ideal for a stroll, especially in their summer fullness or during fall colours. Open year round and available for rentals, meetings and special events. - See more at: www.ontarioslakecountry.com/listing/leacock-museum-histor...
