I posted several photos of this sunset last year but this one didn't make the cut a the time. Seems worth sharing now. Taken at 6:39 pm ;-)

"Silver and gold

And it's growing cold

Autumn leaves lay

As thick as thieves

Shivers down your spine

Chill you to the bone

'Cos the mandolin wind

Is the melody that turns

Your heart to stone..."

This Great Tit flew into our living room and landed in our orchid pot. After a few moments of contemplation she flew away! In the meantime I could take some pictures of this little bird

I asked this gentleman if I could take a picture of him. Sure, he said, it's just that I'm a bit stressed. I've stolen a pair of sunglasses from a guy and I think he's looking for me right now. I thanked him and went the other way.

False Creek

View from Charleson Park towards downtown Vancouver and the BC Place Stadium

False Creek is a short inlet in the heart of Vancouver. It separates downtown from the rest of the city.

The False Creek area was the industrial heartland of Vancouver through to the 1950s. It was home to many sawmills and small port operations, as well as the western terminus of the major Canadian railways.

The BC Place Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located at the north side of False Creek. It is the home field for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League and the Vancouver Whitecaps FC of Major League Soccer. It was the Olympic Stadium during the 2010 Winter Olympics and 2010 Paralympics.

I hiked so many times to Second beach last summer. It is an amazing place. This is one of the pictures taken at twilight when the stars started to come on in the sky.

For this shot the settings are f/4, ISO 2000, at 20 sec.

Wish you all a nice Friday and a very good weekend

Gulls, often referred to as seagulls, are seabirds of the family Laridae in the suborder Lari. They are most closely related to the terns (family Sternidae) and only distantly related to auks, skimmers, and more distantly to the waders. Until the 21st century, most gulls were placed in the genus Larus, but this arrangement is now known to be polyphyletic, leading to the resurrection of several genera. An older name for gulls is mew, cognate with German Möwe, Danish måge, Dutch meeuw, and French mouette; this term can still be found in certain regional dialects

The tawny owl is one of the most common owls in Britain, able to live in a wide variety of habitats. Despite this, because it is nocturnal it is rarely seen. Most often, we only know of its presence by the familiar deep ‘tu-woo’ or ‘kee-wick’ most commonly heard about two hours after sunset in late autumn or winter.

The Peterborough Lift Lock National Historic Site of Canada is located on the Otonabee River section of the Trent Canal in the City of Peterborough, Ontario. It is a large concrete structure along the Trent-Severn Waterway designed to lift boats 19.8 metres. The lock operates on a balance system, whereby water is let into the upper chamber, a connecting valve is opened and the heavier chamber Peterborough is known as the gateway to the Kawarthas, "cottage country", a large recreational region of the province. It is named in honour of Peter Robinson, an early Canadian politician who oversaw the first major immigration to the area. The city is the seat of Peterborough County.

Vila Franca de Xira, Portugal - 16 de Fevereiro de 2016

Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California. I shot this picture when we were in San Francisco in September 2015. We rented some bikes and rode over the bridge. It was a completely different experience, than driving over it by car. It was quite windy, but we were lucky that it did not rain that day. The cloudy skies made for some good shots.

Vila Franca de Xira, Portugal - 13 de Janeiro de 2016

A couple of weeks ago I set myself the challenge to go out for a walk in the rain with my camera and my 35mm prime lens only. Here is one of the results I got. Check out my blog (see link below) for more images from that walk.

For this shot I used intentional camera movement (ICM), hence the blur.

Enjoy!

LG von der Ostsee!

there are magic hours after sunset. we all know that. it was just me, the sand, the sound of the tide. darkness came slowly and embrace me. i stayed to capture the last tiny bit of light. when there was nothing left, i turned to the moon on the other side and walked away feeling the sand under me while the cold air rushed back to the sea.
