Le long des étangs, autours desquels rainettes et oiseaux ont élu domicile, plusieurs kilomètres sont à parcourir dans un décor naturel.
From the Archives.
A series of images I have taken during snowshoeing up to a place on the Schauinsland mountain.
It was the coldest but most attractive winter that time for taking images from these impressive old Beech trees I love so much.
Worth to resist the cold..

A puddle's eye view or rather iPhone's eye view of Skogafoss ... It is hard to get an original composition at this famous waterfall, so I was glad to find the puddle and thankful to the strangers who walked into my composition ... it was not an easy shot to take with the overwhelming spray so close to the falls, it was hard to 'see' what I was composing ... (do look at it large if you have a moment)

My tribute to Jo Cox
and all the other recent victims of unrestrained violence !
A spoonbill nest at Jefferson Island. Three birds are apparent but there is a another baby in front of nest with its head behind a leafy clump. I tried many times to get a shot with it in the frame but it didn't cooperate!!! :-)
Anhingas are large and slender waterbirds with long fanlike tails that resemble a turkey's tail. They have a long S-shaped neck and a daggerlike bill. In flight, Anhingas look like a flying cross; the wings are held out flat and the neck and tail stick straight out. They have slim bodies and look rather flattened in flight.
Taken at Circle B Bar Reserve.
It is a former estate garden featuring annuals, roses and wildflowers and an extensive rockery. It is located on Wilket Creek, one of the tributaries of the Don River West Branch. The estate's title was once held by Alexander Milne, a Scottish weaver who settled here after the War of 1812 and left in 1832. The land and the woolen/saw mills was obtained by Rupert E. Edwards in 1944 and created his country home. Edwards home was left in neglect and was purchased by the Municipality of Metro Toronto in 1955 and became Edwards Gardens in 1956.
Origami Darth Vader has spoken: "I want to let you know that Marjan is having an absolutely necessary summer break..... She will be back, I promise! So live long and prosper until then".
Update: she is back........ ;-))
I find it interesting that I can feel the emotions in me that I felt when taking this photo. It was quite a storm as it approached our town.

The Princely Beguinage Ten Wijngaerde (Dutch: Prinselijk Begijnhof Ten Wijngaerde) is the only preserved beguinage in the Belgian city of Bruges. There are no more Beguines living there, but since 1927 it has functioned as a convent for Benedictines, founded by canon Hoornaert. In the same year the houses at the west side were also reshaped and enlarged into the Monasterium De Wijngaard, a priory of Benedictine nuns.
The complex includes a gothic beguinage church and about thirty white painted houses dating from the late 16th, 17th and 18th century. Practically all of these are built around a central yard. The main entrance with gate can be reached via the three-arched stone bridge, the Wijngaard Bridge. In a bay the image of the holy Elizabeth of Hungary can be seen, who was the patron of many beguinages. De Wijngaard is also devoted to Saint Alexius. The entrance gate was built in 1776 by master mason Hendrik Bultynck. The first Beguine house next to the entrance is furnished as a museum and the exhibition includes paintings, 17th and 18th century furniture and lacework, among others. A second gate gives access to the Sas House, via the Sas Bridge.

The river is still in spate after all the rain we have had here in Scotland and is strewn with trees and other debris that has been washed away. I clambered out into the water to get this shot as it was the only way I could get an angle on the water falling over the rocks with the mountains in the background.
I managed to get to Mote Park lake just in time to catch a few minutes of this early winter sunset - my first of this season. It was a very cold afternoon and the lake was frozen over as can be seen looking at the foreground.
With the high wind warning yesterday, we went to Fifty Point hoping to see high waves and a dramatic sky. Instead it was very calm and still with a dull grey sky!

Here's another composition from my last visit to Joshua Tree. A shot of the Ancient Juniper taken facing north with the glow from the city of Twenty Palms. I have decided to embrace the glow instead of complain about it. :)
I have started saturating my photos a little bit more than usual after I made a few test prints on an Epson 9900 using a custom RGB profile. Those photos I selected to print, seems to be a little weak in color based on the sRGB colorspace which has a much smaller color gamut then the AdobeRGB1998 colorspace which is available on most cameras and I was using for my photos. But, if I then convert to the AdobeRGB1998 colorspace from sRGB I reduce the amount of colors that get clipped down during conversion. My wish on the next "first star" will be to have the profile supported by the web changed to AdobeRGB1998, It would make for a brighter more colorful internet.
I would like to take a moment to explain my reduced activity here on Flickr. I work in a prepress/advertising environment which gets crazy busy during the Christmas season, I have been working 12 hr shifts and haven't been able to spend as much time Flickering as I usually do. I will be heading out to shoot saturday night but I have vowed to spend all day Sunday catching up!! Please be patient with my busy schedule. Man am I looking forward to the new year when things usually slow down a little. :)
Thank you for taking the time to visit and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! :) Have a great weekend one and all. :)
If you have any questions about this photo or about photography in general, I will do my best to help, just post a comment or send me a Flickr mail and I will respond as quickly as possible.
